Dschingis Khan in 79 and Samiid Aednan in 80 are two really memorable songs / shows of those years.
Germany was actually on a roll during the years 79 to 82. A bit injustice in them only winning 82.
Germany was on a roll between 1962 and 1968 in my opinion. A huge injustice that they did not reach the top 5 on any of these years and got 0 points on two of them.
Edit: I actually feel like they didn't get good results in early Eurovision because of the whole World War 2 thing which if you ask me makes sense. But most of their Eurovision songs in the 1960s were very good. Especially Paradis, wo bist du.
1979: Probably the worst Eurovision song ever

1981: Beautiful

I totally agree. I am not sure if Djengis Khan was German or Swedish but i believe they were German.
Samiid ædnan was my total favorite the last part with Mattis was the best.... He was my biggest crush back then...

It’s certainly off key in places
For me Logan was not a winner this year. His win in 1987 was much better, that was a well deserved victory.

Belguim is basically a mickey take from one of the best groups of early synth-pop... and I love it!

My favourites of this year are Italy, Turkey, Ireland.
Just finished watching the whole show. Ireland is a well deserved winner. I also liked Portugal, Switzerland, Luxembourg . Our entry ( uk) was OK. If I ever ranked our entries probably in the middle somewhere.

Turkeys singer Ajda was fantastic and still is. But it was the wrong song for the wrong time. 1980 there wasn’t such a thing as ethno pop and juries didn’t get it.
