Alex’s voice sounds so scratchy, it’s kinda cool. I like the little accents he does on a few of the lines. But the album version is so much smoother. This song is still awesome though, and I like to see the original thought.
This version is more clean than the album's version. And when I found up the Arctic Monkeys for the first time, I only listening the demo's version. Even if after I found up the album's version, I think the demo have more strengt and life...
@@xHershel dude that’s awesome! I went to school to be an audio engineer but I sadly dropped out. Once I got to pro tools I gave up. But the most fun I had was recording local artists, mixing and mastering. It almost didn’t feel like school it just felt like fun. But yea pro tools made me hate music 😂😂
@@xHershel Ableton, that’s what one of my teachers had told me to use and what he records on. I still use Logic Pro and sometimes garage band on my phone 😂 But stock sounds suck.
***** Yeah... I don't know what I was thinking... Oddly enough I actually changed skin on my set just yesterday... The size, material and snare do matter though...
I still prefer their demo to, pretty much everything theyve ever done since. I remember listening to this on my old brick of an iPod first year of university....sigh.
i cant belive ive been listining to this album the whole time instead of Whatever, have to say after listening to the real album that ritz is the only boardwalk song i prefer.
Alex said in an interview that they changed the lyrics to this song cos some of the original lyrics were awful. Anyone know if it still exists anywhere?
way better than the album version, and all subsequent live versions. it seems they forgot why the song works. it's the staccato guitar riff. the playing is totally in the pocket on this version, not so much since
We blessed and lucky people who discovered arctic monkeys with this version will always obviously prefer it. It does sound way better than the other version. This one is raw, rad , the other one is the usually fucked up album industrial version that tries to improve it, when in reality they forgot that sometimes less is more
I think he just sounds like that, it sounds like he only has more voice cracks because of, possibly, his voice changing knowing how young he was while singing this
They should release a compilation with all of their raw demos. They sound great!
well aren't you in luck
Now I get why they play it so slow now. They didn't slow it down, they brought it back to its original tempo. Still prefer the faster temp though.
this the same tempo as the album one
No it’s slow because Alex Is nearly 40 and has a throat disease and can’t sing properly now because he can’t do it how he used to anyway
Alex’s voice sounds so scratchy, it’s kinda cool. I like the little accents he does on a few of the lines. But the album version is so much smoother. This song is still awesome though, and I like to see the original thought.
Wow the first guitar riff has unique vibes! I like both the demo and the album!
U can actually hear jamie's guitar here
This version is more clean than the album's version. And when I found up the Arctic Monkeys for the first time, I only listening the demo's version. Even if after I found up the album's version, I think the demo have more strengt and life...
that’s just... wrong
Alan Smythe the guy who recorded these basically let the music industry know about this band he’s a legend in sheffield
Agreed.
It sounds like a band playing music. Studio version is just too studio, and what for?
Demo versions are so cool
1:35 Love matt's voice in the back :)
OMGGGG when they sing in the background... awww u can tell how much younger they areee
Matt Helders is God
im sure that when they first played this song, that snare fill from the beginning felt pretty odd haha
The vocals sounds very "indie" if that makes any sense.
Very indie
@@connordougherty9860 lmaoooooo 17 year old me couldn’t explain it. I’m an audio engineer now btw haha

Definitely prefer the album version, this one doesn’t have the same energy and his accent isn’t as strong
This is Glynn Jones singing
@@buttertones nope , it's alex.
Reyes v2 Glyn Jones left the band way earlier
You don't know what you're talking about
@@buttertones he left before their first gig
shit...i just found out that ive been listening to this one the whole time.....rly not sure which is better
It's raw genius
To me this was the definitive version, I found this version on LimeWire as a child lol
This version sounds much better than the so-called "clear" version on the record. The drums actually sound like drums here.
i still prefer the "woaHrtic monkeys and this is, i beht you lookgood on the dawncefloah, dont believe the hype"
Very danceable
Great one!
Did Matt use his 70's Ludwig or something? Damn, that snare doesn't fit!
***** Yeah... I don't know what I was thinking... Oddly enough I actually changed skin on my set just yesterday... The size, material and snare do matter though...
Snares don't really change that much, you have to get another snare if you want another sound. Heads won't do much nor tunning
its sounds "VERY" different.. im dont agree.
i think thats sounds very similiar with a pair of post production changes
the originals are always way better than the album versions in my opinion !!!
I still prefer their demo to, pretty much everything theyve ever done since. I remember listening to this on my old brick of an iPod first year of university....sigh.
damn u the og fan
Well from 1984!!!
i cant belive ive been listining to this album the whole time instead of Whatever, have to say after listening to the real album that ritz is the only boardwalk song i prefer.
Me encanta más este sonido que el del álbum.
I'm glad they changed. This version doesn't have as much energy as the finished one. Still great, but album one better. :)
alex baby voice
Alex said in an interview that they changed the lyrics to this song cos some of the original lyrics were awful. Anyone know if it still exists anywhere?
Are you sure he wasn't talking about Riot Van? The Demo version of it is much darker than the Studio one.
I’m not sure but I think there was a clip of them on Jools Holland where Matt says the earlier lyrics “miss dynamite”
no if u listen to them both they sound diff (beat and quality)
Hi
Is this still Alex singing? It sounds so different.
He sounds young haha
Damn the solos are much better

and wot it is that surpri-ises me-
Where can i find a version of higher quality?
only higher quality is the album version
demo>album

This is the original, you mean different from the album version?
So much better than the album version. I don't know why they messed with this.
Lol ok
how
It's good, but the album version is much better man.
@AyalMorann You mean raw?
this version is much better, agile beast are inside
Agree 👍🏻
Deutscher Channel lol
Is Alex drunk?
???
Probably 😂
I think he just sounds like that, it sounds like he only has more voice cracks because of, possibly, his voice changing knowing how young he was while singing this
this version is 1,000,000 times better than the album version!
its just the same song
Are you alive ?
It’s more raw but yes same song
shit compared to the album
fuck off
Eleven years later but yeah... Fuck off Jim
Well duh they were like 17; the fact they knew about music theory amazes me
