Lean is heavily influenced by another even stranger rapper named Lil B. The dances you were talking about, the weird lyrics and flows, and instrumental style and how the music is kinda a unintentional meme. I love them both cuz they weren’t afraid to take risks and sometimes u gotta break conventional shit down to create new shit.
This is pretty much when he started, think he was 16. Like listening to the first thing someone makes. Yung Lean has a thing, the more you listen, the more you love it. He's grown a lot musically from this since then, he's 25 now.

he's evolved a lot since this. i think you should check out "blue plastic" and "my agenda", both very different but recent songs from him.

This song blew me away with how... not great his voice is? if that makes sense? like I hadn't really heard anything like it at the time just young people tryna make music and have fun, being inspired by American culture (which hits home because I'm surrounded by a lot of US culture as most of the people I know live there). Didn't really realise it was even a possibility at the time as silly as that sounds haha.
You weren't the only one who couldn't tell if this was an act or not when this song came out hehe
But that's what I really like about Yung Lean despite not being a superfan or anything, I like that blending of understanding.
I think the difference between Lean and Semetary is that Lean wasn't trying to make bad or strange music, or at the very least, I don't think Lean was acting - as in - "is this kid being serious?" - and more "trying to be like the US artists and media he has consumed while still trying to be his awkward self" acting.
Where as the latter seems to me as trying to be as outrageous as possible for clicks.
Makes sense this isn't your cup of tea for the playlist etc, it's not always mine either.
It's fun to listen to kids experimenting though. It's almost like watching low budget movies for me.

ManeMane4CGG is typically a Chicago Drill artist, and It's very cool to see him being able to do a song with a somewhat typical Yung Lean sound

@@31TV_TX The origin of trap music how it got more popular and started many sub genres of trap/rap and started the whole soundcloud era. His wordplay is good even if it doesn't rhyme that much and I like it its also a sound that grows on you I didn't like it as first but then It grew on to me so to each their own
I think you'd find Yung leans Montreality interview interesting. I wouldn't say youd love it,but it's a lil glimpse into the guy. He's a strange character,cool to me, but strange.
