To intercede simply means to pray for another.
Yes, according to the scripture Jesus is the one that intercede for mankind.
But the question is do we pray for others continually?
That is called intercession.
Remember the story about Peter when his brother James was killed! And the scripture recorded that prayers was made for him.
That is intercession and if nothing was done by the church, he would have died like his brother James.
In conclusion, intercession is the work of the spirit of Christ, nevertheless a man factor is needed too and that is where a believer comes in.
