    This needs to go viral, at least for your what not to do list. People still believe most of these!! I grew out of my acne but not until my 40s. If I knew then what I know now! Gentle cleansing, micellar water and oils: squalane and rose hip seed. Thanks Alice!!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole

      YUP absolutely all of those for me also! I usually don't use rose hip in the summer months but it's in the oil blend I'm currently using from Pixi - it's a lovely blend and reminded me how great that oil is!

    M.S. in nutrition - that explains why you're the only beautuber I can stand to listen to talk about nutrition. I also have my M.S. in nutrition (I'm an RD), and it sucks when I have to unsubscribe from someone I like because they start posting videos "educating" about how great Keto is 😬

      Haha you definitely understand then! I am so happy I pursued that interest - what I learned is invaluable (even if the best way I could summarize it is, "balance is key") But it is SO flustering that people come to me for validation on fad diets. No, they're all terrible, extreme dieting will always do more harm than good - that is always going to be the answer!

      Agreed! I have a feeling it's hype/marketing. "Lose 10 pounds in 3 days!" sounds so very nice...except it's physically impossible 😐
      But "slow and steady wins the race" has never been the best campaign for anything, even if it's the absolute truth.

      @@sharroon7574 On the keto diet, you're forcing your body to use fat and protein as its main energy source, which is a big shift. There's an adjustment period where your body has "learn the new system", or produce the necessary enzymes to keep up - it's more commonly known as "the keto flu".

    All my pillow cases were bleached as a teenager. I grew up rubbing Sea Breeze on my face twice a day after “washing” with Noxema (how is that product still on the market?). I also sat in the sun to dry out my acne (and I figured having a red face would help my acne blend in and not be as noticeable).
    I live in Colorado and a dermatologist told my daughter not to use anything with oil, after I mentioned I have seen people say that oil helped their skin regulate it’s own oil better. Have you done a video on what oils are good for different skin issues (like oils high in linoleic vs oleic fatty acids)? Some people swear coconut oil is the best thing while others say it’s highly comedogenic, so it’s confusing. I don’t want to break out just because I’m curious if it will break me out. Also, mineral oil - it’s considered “bad”, but isn’t the molecule too big to penetrate the skin? Or is it just trapping crap inside your pores? Thanks!!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The opinions on oils are so conflicting! I AM a fan of mineral oil though - I've used it without problems (my only issue is when I see it being a primary ingredient in an expensive product. It's cheap! And amazing to me when people spend hundreds on mineral oil products but fear Vaseline! I digress though lol)
      As for coconut oil, I'm testing Kopari after Pixi. I want to see for myself what coconut oil does on my tricky skin. I'll do the testing for breakouts so you don't have to lol! (Send good skin vibes 🙏😂)

    But now that I’ve added the farmacy honey moon glow my skin is AWFUL w. Nasty breakouts. I’ve been going back & forth between purging or damaging my skin barrier. I’m still learning as I go 😂😂 but your channel has been such a wealth of knowledge for me!

      However, speaking of Pixi, I thought I would give the Glow Tonic serum a try and it's going very well - still early on saying what the results will be, but at least it doesn't sting the way Honeymoon Glow did.

      I’m really excited to see your video on pixi!!! They’re products seem to be really well thought out! Have you ever tried their cleansing balms? I don’t usually splurge on make up removers, so I don’t want to keep purchasing the farmacy one (just go thru it too quickly) I’ve been curious about pixi’s though! Great tips Alice. I’m 43 and deal with occasional hormonal acne. I mix Differin and.05% Retin-a cream and apply it at night after my other skin care products. This has done more than anything else for me. I also use a tiny amount of Differin in the day just on any pimples if needed. Of course, I always apply plenty of sunscreen. It took me a long time to build up to this. I used Differin only for about a year and a half. It’s really great for hormonal acne and hyperpigmentation which I also have. It didn’t do a lot for fine lines so I switched to Retin-a and found it was not as good at treating my hormonal acne and hyperpigmentation. Dr Davin Lim did a video on Retin-a and mentioned you could mix different strengths when trying to increase your dose so I asked him about mixing Retin-a and Differin and he said it was fine if my skin could tolerate it. It actually works great for me. Differin is more gentle than Retin-a in my experience so my skin is happier mixing the two than using the Retin-a alone. Sorry my post is so long. Hope you’re having a good weekend 😊.

      That's quite fascinating to me as I didn't know you can mix the two (but it really is a matter of what your skin can handle!) It does make sense though, as tret is more often used for anti-aging and adapalene for acne. And yeah, as long as you're using SPF - i can see how it would work well! Thank you for sharing!

    Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser isn't safe to use. It contains BHT. BHT is a toluene based ingredient.

    I switched from the body shop’s tea tree oil to the Jason’s 100% tea tree oil and learned my lesson that first night after trying to apply it the same way. I had to run back to the bathroom to wash it off it was so intense my eyes were even red and watering. It is absolutely amazing on my breakouts and seriously helped clear up my skin after some pretty serious adult acne breakouts. I will say be very cautious when applying and patch test to see how much you need to dilute it and make sure you have a very strong moisturizing routine after. I have oily skin and at night when I use the tea tree oil I will still use a slightly thicker moisturizer and a few drops of rose hip oil and its created a rly nice balance that controls the spots I can get but my skin is also taken care of and moisturized.

    Hi Alice! Questions on the Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM Serum:
    1) Do you recall purging from it? I want to try it for my adult acne, I am an "Acne Lifer".
    2) At most places it costs about $65 an ounce. How long does an ounce last if used daily or every other day?
    3) Due to cost of the single ounce being so high, I wonder if going for the QVC deal with the giant 6.7 oz for $126 is a good idea, or is that more than a human could use in a year?
    4) I watched another one of your videos where you mention you find great deals on it for REALLY CHEAP, can you give us some tips on where to find the 1 oz sizes for a better price that $65?
    5) In the other video, you also mentioned liking the Strivectin Star Light Retinol Oil. Any opinion on comparing PTR vs. Strivectin for keeping your skin clear of acne? Thanks :)
    P.S. I am new to your videos, but love, love, love them! You very fast and hard hitting at providing viewers with so much helpful information, facts, and opinions packed into each video, it is amazing! You say it like it is and are so well balanced with your commentary, I am a new fan!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't recall purging from it actually, but it may have been because I had already been using other forms of retinol.
      As for the price: the deal is, when PTR's own website runs their sales (Black Friday and July 4th), the .4oz serum goes on sale for around $5. As you can imagine, it's an INCREDIBLY good deal! Now, the problem is, it does sell out. So you kind of have to plan on it and get there early. There's a bit of a sad addendum to this in that I noticed it was missing from the last sale!! So I'm crossing every finger in hoping that deal isn't the past! I bought 10 in the last July 4th sale and I'm on my last bottle - so that makes around 4 oz total in a year (although I do stop retinol if I'm using another retinol in a trial - so it's hard to gauge that amount with great certainty).
      As for the Strivectin oil, I talked about finishing it in my last empties video. I really adored that product, but the end of the bottle was frustrating. It's a minor grief, but I'd be quite mad about the difficulty of getting the last few drops from the bottle had I paid $99 for it. Still, I'd grab it in a heartbeat if it was included in a 50% off sale. I'm not sure if this speaks more of the product or my cut off of what I'll personally spend 😂😂
      Hope that helps!

    Baby girl, you can save money on those hydrocolloid patches by springing for hydrocolloid bandage sheets on Amazon. For ten bucks, you can get 10 4x4 inch sheets of the stuff. Granted, you have to cut it, but it really is a great value. I bought a pack last September and I'm about to buy myself another pack, but you'll probably have to use less than I did (it's been rough hahaha)

      I wish they listed the probiotics used ☹️ - since they didn't, you know it's a VERY low amount

      @@AliceintheRabbitHole Alice, i did check the HUM probiotics but sadly they only sell in the States (=paying customs and shipping if you live in Europe). I have tried probiotics before but had little to no results. You mention it might be a matter of a good mix between the different probiotics. Would you by any chance be able to give us an idea of what to look for eventually ? (if time obviously, lol) Thanks a ton , xoxo
