George, I had an ablation at 64, a procedure which was not in any way an ordeal. I needed a little bit longer to be confident to fully get back to work than the cardiologists suggest (this is the norm, see online patient forums). It resolved the atrial fibrillation and got me off most of the medication, as intended. I’m told it should be effective for 15 years or so, and then maybe need doing again. Do take it easy for a few weeks afterwards. We’re praying for you.

Considering there‘s another ACNA bishop currently on trial accused of negligence…How is it the bishop of C4SO is not also being held to trial? This is a pattern of either willful negligence or sheer ignorance. Considering this parish is in his home town it’s hard to believe he couldn’t know. Either way, this is not an isolated issue in C4SO.

Celibacy is the required norm for all Christians living in the unmarried state. There are no exceptions to this. Thus, single Christians should be both celibate and chaste as a requirement. Among married people chastity is required within the confines of marriage. One practices chastity according to one's state in life. Chastity alone does not include celibacy it is the kind of chastity according to one's marital state.
To be chaste one is control oneself, thoughts, actions and the like relative to the sexual desires and thoughts and indeed deeds. Marriage is not a license for sinful thoughts, words, or behaviors. It is a state of union for the good of children, families, and the formation of Christian households. Such households are to be places of love, chastity, temperance, and holiness, a place where Jesus is welcome. A home of virtue and goodness and charity.
Chastity includes avoiding masturbation and that which may excite such behavior. Masturbation is a sin and an abuse of the self, just like other forms of popular self-abuse.
Should one fail to live up to the standards of true Christian living by falling into sin; one must repent of such behaviors and seek forgiveness of sin. The power to forgive sins was given to Christ to His apostles and their successors. Such forgiveness is normally found in the sacrament of confession.
One would first and foremost speak with God and ask for forgiveness, and one would then, in obedience to Christ, seek the sacrament to ensure that which Christ promised. To do otherwise to not confess, is to disobey the Lord. Failure to follow the Lord's way is to not obtain those graces that He wants to provide, and failure to confess is often a prideful thing, this month of June should lead one to ponder pride vs. humility.
Within the Catholic Church the month of June is dedicated to something referred to as The Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heard IS essentially Jesus Himself with a focus on His Heart, the seat of His love. In that one focuses on unique union of God and man in the heart of the Savior, that heart that loved so much. Ponder then the humility of that heart and the pride of parades of the poor souls who are oblivious all but carnal desire, locked in a hellish delusion of either ignorance or rejection of God. Therefore, prayers are needed for the salvation of souls, and the liberation of sinners from sin, that the life of God may be all in all.
    Best wishes!

@@DonalLeader It's a question of priorites. Some people are obsessed with their own salvation so much that they cloister themselves away from society prioritizing their own self-discipline over their obligations to other human beings (e.g. matthew 25 and others) Jesus told us to prioritize compassion and the service of others Most religions have similar distinctions (mahayana versus hinayana in Buddhism) Aesceticism has a role, but it's not the end game.
You wont let gay people get married. So saying sex outside of marriage is always a sin isn't taking into account their situations, your point is moot. If a gay person still follows these commandments and has sex outside of marriage, it's clear to me at least how Jesus would feel

    • @johnjon1823
      @johnjon1823 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@davidsprouse151 Well He will separate the sheep form the goats. My point remains, sin is always sin. Jesus would prefer no sin at all; it cost Him on the cross.
All sexual activity outside marriage is a sin, one's sexual proclivities are irrelevant. Those who may have homosexual tendencies are not given a pass anymore than a bachelor with normal proclivities.
Marriage is not an option for two homosexuals to join one another since it is not in the design of God. Sin is not in the design.
While mental disorders may mitigate against culpability for various sins, sin itself is not abrogated by difficult circumstances. Culpability may be mitigated, but sin remains sin.
Therefore, one may be objectively guilty of grave or mortal sin, while subjectively the culpability may be mitigated due to the particulars of the situation. In any case sin is still sin and Jesus does not endorse any sin.
Further, the grace to avoid sin IS provided by God, it IS there, it is up to the individual to make use of it.
Nobody gets a free pass on sin, nobody.
The effects of original sin darkened the intellect, and damaged the unity of the will, the intellect and the imagination, to say nothing of genetics. All humans are damaged goods.
ALL sin damages the person, ALWAYS. One becomes blind to the sin by its repetition, and that further darkens the intellect, hence: men in skirts, baby killing, self-sterilization. All sin has an impact on the human environment in every respect.
All sin debases mankind, every sin does this, and it is the goal of the devil to debase that which is made in the image of God.
Sodomy debases all who do it, just as adultery and the like. These are deadly sins. Life is restored by repentance.
If one falls a thousand times, one must repent 1001. This is why 70x7 is important to know.
No passes for sin, NONE. Mitigation of culpability -up to God alone.
We don't get Jesus on the cheap. The road is narrow, narrow, the gate is small.
This is why purgatory exists, few die in perfection and the Lord loves us all.
For those who do not know the Truth, scripture tells us they are judged by the light they have, but the Lord does indeed write the commandments on the human heart.
It is urgent to convert the world. Look at where it is.
      God bless! Best wishes!

I'm afraid many Christians are naive and unrealistic. These things do happen, and we need to face up to the situation and punish wrong doers . Protecting the institution is shortsighted. Eventually the institution is damaged far more as in this case. Having all this publicity about the Archbishop of Canterbury is doing far more damage than would have done by prosecuting the original wrongdoer . We should be protecting young people in the church first and foremost.

As a minister who came to Anglicanism in my 40s, I am still mystified why the church has to employ barristers and solicitors in disciplinary issues in church. When I was a manager in business, we investigated misconduct ourselves under the company's procedures. If we made mistakes then the one being disciplined could appeal and then take us to an employment tribunal. To spend half-a-million quid on legal fees in an internal process is crazy - especially as the SEC is not a state church. The diocese is absolutely tiny as well - like stipendiary clergy being in single figures I believe. Just self inflicted nonsense as usual.

With all due respect to your analysis of the situation prevailing in South Africa after the elections, I think you should do more diligence check on the unresolved issues in the pre and post Apartheid South Africa. The 4,7 m white South Africans have continued to enjoy and benefit from White capital monopoly and the majority of black South Africans still live in abject poverty. The TRC in South Africa was cosmetic and each election is going to bring more tension in the country. Ideologically, the DA party and ANC are very different. EFF and MK party will continue to capitalize on the disgruntlement of the poor and the young people who were born after 1994 who have nothing to do with the struggle for Independence. Archbishop Thabo has been vocal about a range of issues including the rampant corruption and state capture by the politically connected. The unresolved injustices of the past, will continue to affect the entire broad church too eg the Land question. Who owns the land and will they ever willingly sell it? I don't think they're willing to do anything to freely give back the land their ancestors took away from the locals and created Bantustans for the indigenous peoples. Mandela didn't do anything about it because his handlers never wanted him to do so. South Africa should learn from the mistakes that ZIMBABWE made in terms of the Land redistribution. It is not just an economic issue but it's political and religious for Africans. The umbilical cord ties every African to the land. Thus, in pursuit of justice and equality, the Church of the province of southern Africa must advocate for justice and righteousness in this unfolding cunundrum. ANC as a party is at its weakest to provide leadership for a better South Africa.

A major contributor, having been shown a pre prublication draft of the report, withdrew his contribution to the document because it was not hitting enough against Welby. So while the delay isn't covering up, it appears the report is, through severely "pulling its punches".
I think if Kevin and George had been assogned the task of compiling the report, honest and accurate journalists as they are ( sincerely meant ) then the report would not have "held back" or been "held up".

Gentlemen: the entire topic of 'Safeguarding' is a minefield for the Church: not least because the Church has a problem with human sexuality, 'per se'. I'm just reading Michael Arditti's novel on this very topic, 'THE CHOICE'; and can recommend it to other viewers. Arditti knows the Church of England really well: to judge from his other novels set within it. He's like a contemporary Anthony Trollope! When young, and with burgeoning hormones, young males will try lots of things with their bodies: been there, done that, bought the t-shirt! Unfortunately, the Church is not the right organisation to be providing any advice whatsoever, at this stage of a young man's life (I cannot speak for girls). Packed with Puritans and 'scriptural literalists', the Church imagines that the first tijme an adolescent male has 'sex' should be on his wedding night! This is the stuff of rigid (pardon the pun!) nonsense. We have had more than a century of insights into human sexuality: and the Church (as represented by your type of thinking) has imbibed NONE of these insights. Fortunately, 'secular' society has: although there are more than enough bureaucratic 'woke' women around to ensure that boys are in the situation they are in today. What is it about these people? Are they jealous of burgeoning 'youth'; when theirs' is past? Just look at some of the comments below: and the problem stares you in the face. Jesus of Nazareth began with US: today's church-goers begin with a badly thought-through, un-orthodox, 'Doctrine of Scripture'. Again, they would do well to read Alan Richardson's article on the topic in 'A DICTIONARY OF CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY'. I know this is an elderly tome; but it explains the Anglican 'Doctrine of Scripture' to perfection. And it is NOT that espoused by so many on here.

@@georgeconger2850 I doubt that, George. Alan Richardson was Professor of Theology at Nottingham University, before being appointed to be Dean of the Cathedral in York. He was a great theologian; and edited 'A DICTIONARY OF CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY', which has been my 'go-to' reference source for most of my adult life. As for Michael Arditti, he writes novels: many involving the Church of England. 'EASTER' was one of the first of his novels I read. I don't read much fiction: but do enjoy the Shardlak Novels of CJ Sansom, and those of Michael Arditti.
