    Great list. To add holding the picture view button while the camera is off allows you to see the pictures/edit as well enter the menu system without having the lens extend. When done you can press play again to turn off or the power button. Holding the movie button while on can toggle the Wi-Fi on and off

      Worth noting, you can customize the long press function of the movie button. Enabling WiFi is just the default option for that button.

    Just bought myself a GRIIIX(which should reach me next week) after reselling a few DSLR lenses and after spending a few days with a GRIII. The GR ergonomics, user interface and settings paradigms are completely different from everything else and the breadth of customisation is more than amazing. The downside of that is that one has to "forget" a lot of the automated logic and muscle memory built through the years on other systems. It can be intimidating to do so. It is the case for me anyway. This video has brought to light a number of wonderful features that I probably would never have noticed on my journey approaching this camera. It did so while keeping things clear and simple. So a big thank you for that! After watching it, I feel even more excited with my "return to Ricoh" (had a film GR1 back in the days, and deeply miss it ever since it drowned in a flooded tent).

    Hi, and thanks for the video!
    I am a new photographer who just bought the Ricoh gr3.
    Do you think it can be my primary camera for work?
    Mainy for architecture with a wide angle lens?
    Is it professional to show up to a client with a pocket size camera?
    Your thought is appreciated 🙏🏼

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      For sure you can shoot architecture on the GR3 but it's really hard to say if it would work as your only camera for paid jobs. When you shoot for a client you have to be able make the photos the client needs. Whether you can do that on the GR3 depends on what your client needs.

    Interesting features. Internal memory is something that every digital camera should have. Having only 40 "possibilities" can make one's photography better. Limiting yourself makes you think more instead of just hiring away hundreds of images.

    Auto EV compensation is an underrated feature in this camera. It works in manual mode also. You can dial in your preferred aperture and shutter speed and you'll get those values for most shots, unless it gets really dark or bright and then the camera will take over. I don't think this is a very common feature in other camera brands.

    great video thanks...I still don't get snap focus - if i set it to 3m but shoot something at e.g. 1m or 5m is it out of focus?

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the f stop, please experiment in real life situations.

    • @andreas.farsch
      @andreas.farsch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It depends. You can program a button to specifically invoke snap focus, than the camera will focus at that pre-programmed distance, period. (Or even set the lcd-display to take a picture with snap focus distance by tapping the lcd). In these cases the actual distance and the aperture value will determine the depth of field. But there is another case, I'm surprised Matti didn't mention it: *Full press snap*. This is an additional setting. With this your camera works like any camera, with auto focus and half-pressing the shutter button etc. BUT if you swiftly press the shutter button all the way, the camera won't focus, but take a picture at the pre-programmed distance (which you can set via the short menu if you customize your short menu with it). Full press snap really is the best of both worlds: have AF most of the time, and if something worth taking a picture happens very quickly, just press the shutter button quickly.

    Great video! I am a new owner of the GRiiiX and have been using primarily the P-Mode with DOF program line. I understand the different program lines (DOF, max aperture and normal) and what they do but I'm interested to hear which you use and which suit different situations. I find that max aperture pretty well keeps it at 2.8 at all times and I am more likely to miss focus with it. The DOF on the other hand hovers around 4.5 and I have gotten better results.

      @@AlexandreSantini That's your opinion and you are entitled to it, of course. This video has now about 27 000 views and quite a few comments and you are the first one to say it's a clickbait. If you read some of the comments, you'll see that there are many GR owners who did know of theses features. You can, of course, find all these features in the manual and also browsing the menu. But, most never read the menu or get to know their camera properly. They just want to get shooting quickly. That's why YT is full of camera tips and tricks and people love them. These videos also remind you that your camera has features that you may have forgotten. Modern cameras are so feature rich that it's easy to ignore some less frequently used features. Not everyone is as expert and thorough with their cameras as you are. I actually wonder why you even watched the video, because you already know every feature in your GR and you probably are much better photographer than most of us too. Anyway, all the best to you and I hope you'll snap many more awesome photos on your GR😀
