I'm finally upgrading my 10 yr old Apple AirPort Extreme with 802.11ac wi-fi connectivity to the all-new eero 6E Pro with connectivity at 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz & 6Ghz. Well I guess Amazon's gonna get to see all my Internet activity and sell my data to the highest bidder with my new eero 6E Pro wi-fi mesh router system thingy. So that's fun. Are you still using a decade's old Apple AirPort Extreme like I was? Are you trying to figure out a new router setup that's kinda future proof? So far so good with this eero 6E Pro (minus the whole iCloud Private Relay feature not being compatible 😫)

I am still with Apples AirPorts and srill very happy. Easily getting 250+gb speeds. No need for change in my case.
As was I! It was rock solid and I love the AiPort Utility app. But I wasn’t getting the coverage I needed and some areas were just too weak even with optimal placement. You can use an old AirPort Express to extend but those are 802.11n. REALLY ancient.
I was suggesting a wired connection between the two devices! I was just suggesting running a short cable instead of a long one, but that meant you would have to pull up the raceway. Haha glad we could hang I had fun!
I hear you. I’m sure had we talked it through a bit more we would have gotten on the same page. I think my mental hangup was not knowing if it was best to run the Ethernet cable directly into the West Router from the East one…or to keep the cable going into the home theater switch and then running a cable from that switch into the West Router. We, like most people, were probably thinking the same end result just two different paths to get there. Bottom line: more communication was needed.
Either way, though, we got some funny moments in there and you helped a ton with getting it set up.

This mesh system sucks. I installed it and realized I can't assign different devices to different nodes. I can't even separate the 5 hertz from the 2.5 hertz. It was hard to connect my security cameras because they are only compatible with the 2.5 hertz. I am going with another brand.
So why does that mean the Eero sucks? Sounds like maybe your research before you purchased the system is what sucked… 👀

Did Eero not specify anywhere that it can’t separate the 5 and 2.5Hz frequencies so devices that can only use one but not both can be used reliably with the router?
If possible - set the 2.4 and 5 GHz band separately. Especially for smart home devices.
Hopefully fibre to the home comes soon because you’d hopefully be ready to take advantage of it with all your mixed devices 👌🏾

I have 2 Eero Pro 6E’s and 1 Eero 6+ and my iCloud Private Relay is turned on…not sure why yours isn’t working 🤔And using a wired backhaul is definitely the way to go.
I have no idea either, Kevin. I did hear that eero update the software for the system and maybe that broke iCloud Private Relay? I keep getting messages saying I have to turn it off. 🤷♂️
@@matthewTobrien I do have limit ip address tracking and private Wi-Fi address turned on under my Wi-Fi settings on my iPhone 13, private relay is on also…I don’t know if those settings are helpful or not though, just a thought

Glad i'ts you and not me; I got rid of mine five or six years ago (ie once the firware updates were cancelled).
