the edges are curved, so you need it to attach the skin properly. Like on phones, you just use the dryer for when you need to apply the skin on curved surfaces
shouldve done the same with my ps5. i tried getting the perfect stick for 1 hour until the skin stretched and never fitter properly again. had to throw away my middle skin.

Don't buy it, it's not worth it. The skins are not cut correctly and you will have to wait the better part of a month to receive anything. The people who have youtube tech channels send their devices to dbrand and they do it for them. That's why they come out great and the youtube tech channels praise dbrand. That and they get the skins for free.

Easier tip for installing the top skin: -Remove a thin vertical strip (width of the apple logo) of the white paper backing so the apple logo cutout is open. You can do this by poking through the logo cutout from the front and peeling the back while using scissors to cut a straight line. Point of this is so you don't have to unpeel everything at once and struggle to line it up -Now line up the top skin with the apple logo while ensuring corners are lined up. - Once lined up, press down around the logo to stick and then the remaining areas from that vertical strip you cut in step 1 -Lastly lift each side and unpeel the white backing from middle to the edge. I used the straight edge of the packaging to smooth it out as I was unpeeling and sticking -
ProTip: Use the brightest headlamp you have, even if you think you have "good lighting". I had two KeyLight Airs and still found that the spotlight from my headlamp really helped. Their backing paper really does make all the difference in the world. Zero bubbles on my new leather top skin.
Tips from a real customer: 1- Watch the whole thing at one time. 2- Replay only the specific part u want to watch/need. 3- Believe me you’ll skip the whole video once u align the 1st hole or the apple cutout. 4- U can use a plastic wide non sharp pry spudger to avoid bubbles. 5- ⚠️ Do Not use the hair dryer in the beginning, it ruined small part of my sticker, and got a little bit discoloured. 6- Only use the hairdryer at the end, with the lowest temperature & lowest airflow. 7- Do a quick inspection with ur fingers, and with good lighting. 💡 8- Done. ✅ 9- I did not copy this from someone else, so all rights reserved.😂 10- Enjoy & Congrats on ur new Mac, those things aren’t cheap or even reasonably priced. ❤
Ordered a lid and inside skins for my MBP; watched these tutorials; worked like a dream; really love 'em. The challenge is most of us have never done this before - and we only get 1 shot !! Few comments based on my experience - first, don't attempt when you're stressed or you've a time-bind....take it slow. Second, the lid skin is easier than the inside - as it's easier to take the 3M backing off and also align 3x corners. Took me about 10-15 mins. For the inside, it's nigh impossible to remove the 3M backing without the keyboard/speaker/track-pad inserts detaching! The speaker strips are also VERY thin...they run down the outside edge and are tricky to apply straight/not wavey. Third, for the lid and inside, there are key 'stick' points which it's really critical to get aligned. PLEASE do avoid the temptation to 'push-on' when it's just a millimetre 'not right'! This last comment particularly applies to the inside skin - I found there were key 'locator points' which need getting right before pressing the skin down...for example, 3 outside edge corners plus 2x edge corners of keyboard plus 2x edge corners of trackpad. Lost count of the number of times I lifted the skin and GENTLY put it back on at ONLY these key points. Then you can focus on getting the alignment right on the 4x edges of the keyboard/trackpad (between the corners). Also take your time with aligning those thin strips either side of the speakers! Inside skin took me about 60 mins all-in. Take your time and you'll be just fine :-)
This finally gets easy around the 10th time you do it. However, you should mention in the 'heat' stage on the bottom skin that you are VERY likely to create air pockets on the bottom you have to massage out after each corner. Fantastic products, though.
For the 2021 MBP 14”, the palm rest is now cut differently. it doesn’t have the keyboard or speaker cutouts. This means the backing is shorter and the instructions don’t really apply as the vinyl portions above and below the trackpad are too thin to use the technique shown in the video.
DBrand team, can you please update this tutorial or stop linking to it for the new MBAs. The bottom chassis no longer has a surface curve near the edges, so heating up the skin actually expanded it and made the screw hole cutouts misaligned to the screw holes on my macbook air 15". I've also found that the trackpad cutout on the palm rest skin is wider than it is taller, making the side gaps around the trackpad larger than the top and bottom gaps. For a $70 dollar skin set, I'm a bit disappointed with the results. I hope the next batch is improved.
I find it EXTREMELY annoying that they always make a joke of one installation (in this case the trackpad but they also do the same thing for certain parts of the iPhone and iPad skins). As proven from other comments, this is a first time installation for a lot of people and it would be helpful to go through it properly even if it seems obvious to the company.

The price is $69.95 which indicates a full set, but when adding to cart it says it's just the essential kit with the top skin only. Emailing customer support goes unanswered. It doesn't appear that D-Brand offers any full kits for the 15" MacBook Air, only top skins. I guess I will have to go with SlickWraps instead, but I really wanted to try D-Brand this time.
The bottom part is different on the new design, the feets on the new design are different and not flush like the old one, I can't put it on as I get bubbles around the feet and don't know how to. Can you guys please update this video with the new design macbooks?
I had very few issues installing the dbrand Swarm skin on my 2023 16" M3 Max MacBook pro. Only mistake I made was I messed up the orientation of the apple logo on my first attempt (doh!) but was easy to remove and start again. Note that to install the bottom cover I found there was no need to use a hairdryer, and I used the same installation technique as for installing the top skin. One of the holes on the bottom is ever so slightly misaligned but don't think it would cause an issue. Overall very happy and it is a quality product!
Why I cannot have Top and Bottom skins, but just Top, for the REAL BROWN LEATHER ? I would buy one but because you don’t give the Bottom part, I’m won’t buy it 😝.

BEWARE -- bottom template is wrong for bottom of new 2023 macbooks. The new macbooks have stubby feet now that protrude down quite a bit, the holes must be enlarged. I've opened a case with dBrand, hopefully they give a shit. My other skins went on perfectly.
This is about the fourth or fifth dbrand product my partner done. The palm rest COMPLETELY failed. We did not stretch it or add heat. IT DID NOT FIT. It's way too big! This is with the MacBook Air 2022 M2. I contacted them for a replacement and they told me I must have stretched it. Definitely didn't. We even had it flush to the left side and it was STILL TOO LONG on the right! It was also bigger than the keyboard area cut out. For $75 CAD (super annoyed it's a Toronto company and I'm in TO yet they list the prices in USD...). They said I could get a replacement for $5 USD for the shipping. I don't think I should have to pay more when I already paid $75!! It's clear their products are not up to date and need to be fixed.

HEY PEOPLE! If you're having trouble with applying the palmrest skin, tape all the cutouts excluding the cutout pull space with scotch tape, and pull the 3M paper away from the skin instead of pulling the skin off. I've finally done it after a third attempt on my MacBook Pro!
I know it’s been over a year, but somebody suggested to tape the cut out to the rest of the palm rest skin before peeling off the 3M sheet. Sounds a good idea to me

Took me 2 minutes. How? I just removed the skin from the 3M paper and just lined up the Apple logo on the sticker with the Apple logo on the Mac. Its a big sticker, so I put it on like a big sticker lol

Same...i think Dbrand has been cheating us. Even though they offer sizes for specific Macbook models, i think they have been cutting corners and sending us similar templates...and writing off any customer complaints about alignment as the customer used too much force
I followed this video for my 15 inch MacBook Air and have been disappointed with the outcome. There is no mm gap between the shorter edges, but there is with the long edges. I suggest that you line it up with a gap along the long edge but not the short edge. For the bottom skin, the cutouts don't line up at all, so I wouldn't waste your money buying them. I wrote to dbrand and they decline to provide a refund or acknowledge their mistake.
I tried to “gently “ pull in track pad skin but nope. The cut out pieces never came out. So disappointed in this skin. Now I have to pay extra to get the new one.
I already have the top part of the skin. But will having it on the bottom portion effect how it release heat from the laptop? I dont want it to over heat.
What is the hair dryer for? I'm assuming to dry the sweat off your head after trying to install the top skin perfectly for 2 hours.

I loved the uniform look of the palm rest without removing the keyboard cutout. :-) Now that I think of it, I do have a transparent, silicone keyboard protector skin for my older Apple keyboard... Hmm.
Does the skin provide any grip? The only reason I am going to skin up my macbook is because is slippery as hell! Could someone please elaborate? If yes, which dbrand skin provides the most grip?

Same...i think Dbrand has been cheating us. Even though they offer sizes for specific Macbook models, i think they have been cutting corners and sending us similar templates...and writing off any customer complaints about alignment as the customer used too much force
No matter how slowly I pulled the skin off of the backing paper, the cut outs still stayed on the paper
Was too scared to apply the Skin, left it for a week after receiving it. Need not have worried it went on like a dream.
I followed this video for my 15 inch MacBook Air and have been disappointed with the outcome. There is no mm gap between the shorter edges, but there is with the long edges. I suggest that you line it up with a gap along the long edge but not the short edge. For the bottom skin, the cutouts don't line up at all, so I wouldn't waste your money buying them. I wrote to dbrand and they decline to provide a refund or acknowledge their mistake.
Anyone with an M3 Air and notice it seems to peel over a bit? Tried reapplying but no dice to get it on and leaving that gap they mention

I tried to “gently “ pull in track pad skin but nope. The cut out pieces never came out. So disappointed in this skin. Now I have to pay extra to get the new one.

I already have the top part of the skin. But will having it on the bottom portion effect how it release heat from the laptop? I dont want it to over heat.
No it won't, MacBook Pros of this generation vent heat toward the rear of the machine and not the bottom.
