The AV-8A/C is just neat
Entered service in 1971, about two years before the end of Vietnam, though they weren't sent there.
They are also a tad bit faster than the Harrier IIs, since the Harrier II has a chonky airframe that generates more drag.
The US exported the A models to Spain (re-designated as AV-8S Matador), and when Spain was able to acquire the Harrier II, they were sold to Thailand.
The C model is just an A, but with the nose-mounted recon camera removed (and with countermeasure dispensers equipped.
An AV-8C was modified by McDonnell Douglas in the early 80s to serve as the prototype for the Harrier II, which was re-designated as the YAV-8B "Enhanced" Harrier.
I think there was also an AV-8C modified to test the GAU-12 Equalizer, replacing the twin 30mm ADEN gunpods.

As someone who spaded the av8a in the tech tree i can say it is one of the most fun vehicles i have ever played especially when facing people who literally cannot counter your missiles.

Hey Cole, I just wanted to let you know that, using your video(s) as an inspiration, I sat down and completed Ace Combat 5 last month. I don't particularly care for it _as a game,_ but sitting through and beating it on my own accord helped me better understand the appreciation people have for it _as_ a game. I just wished Nagase would shut up.

This jet was acutally really good for me. Very good at CAS, decent at intercepting high flying or fast deck huggers, and as long as you were aware of your surroundings, you usually will bag at least three kills a game. As for the British harrier, it’s also pretty decent but the missile could be changed and countermeasures would be a god sent.
What I like about Cole over other content creators is he perfectly encapsulates the sheer rage from playing this game
