    But you didn't talk about bias and equalization adjustment, I think that would have been the most important detail to mention because it's the thing that almost everyone doesn't know how to use.

    Teac knew what the HELL they were doing when they built those decks, they were BULLETPROOF, you had to BREAK them to stop them from working, and they sounded WONDERFUL! Easy to find parts, easy to service and they were AFFORDABLE in their day, I'd STILL have one if I came across it, if it were in decent shape, I'd bring it back to life, it's WORTH IT!😳

    My 3300S supply reel does not rotate freely in "stop" mode when routing the leader through the tape path. What should I look for? Likely a brake issue?

    This is going to be a weird question; I have this unit, same model. I love it! But it’s hard for me to believe that 15 inches is tape pass by the head assembly every second, at high speed. Am I missing something?!
    Where can I send you a video of my unit? Yours seems to turn faster than mine….

      Yours is not 2T and 15 ips as the one in the video. There are different versions of this model.

      I have a 3300 model also. There is a switch on the left side panel that is high speed low speed. High speed should be 15ips. low is 7.5 ips. It is a push button in for high, out for low. Good luck

    WTF? The IBM 360 aesthetics brought me here, from season 4, last episode (E13) of The Good Place. But wasn't expecting this would be so arcane to operate.

    Thank you, can you please show how to connect the music to the source? For example if the music is from a CD player.

      Hi, you can connect a CD player directly to a tape recorder as long as your CD player has an analogue output.

      @@velddynamicaudio2879 I have just bought one of these and also have a akai 4000ds mk11,to record from digital to analogue,i use a D.A.C (Ddigital to analogue converter) bought on ali express,less the £10,you can get more costly,but mine is all i need.i record from my Mp3 player into a new digital amplifier,then from that to my DAC then into my reel to reel recorder,plays great (and i'm a old fart amateur....lol)😂

    My Teac A3000 is playing too slow on the high speed setting? The tape was recorded at 15ips. It plays even slower on the slow speed setting.

    I just purchased one of these... I'm new to the reel world though. Can you help, what size tape width do I need for these? I want to transfer my digital music to tape. It says in the manual 1/2" on a 10.5" reel for the 2T version however the assy tensions arms are grooved for 1/4"... I'm so confused. I currently have 1/4" tape on there on 7" reels... Thanks

      all the 3300 series of decks use 1/4in tape including the 2t. The 2t Version is 1/2 track format on 1/4in tape, meaning that the tape is divided into 2 tracks as apposed 4 (2 playback in one direction, 2 in the other) which is the standard. Keep in mind that the tape doesn't determine the number of tracks but rater the machine heads do.

      Why put Digital recordings onto tape? You won't restore analogue sound from digital. Just curious as to why you'd bother ?

    • @chris_johnson_music
      @chris_johnson_music 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stupidhandles Some digital recordings can sound too harsh and transient depending on what ad/da convertors where used. Transferring a digital master to analogue can help shape off the transients and give it a slight bump up in the low end. Ideally recording to analogue tape would be beneficial in my opinion but yes you can slightly restore the analogue sound from a digital recording.

    Hi, great video! I'm a bloody beginner, I got a nagra 4.2. Can I erase tapes with it? Can I erase tapes with the TEAC A-3300SX? Thank You, Leo

    • @velddynamicaudio2879
      @velddynamicaudio2879  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, you can erase a tape with any tape deck that has a erase head, which is nearly all of them. A Nagra 4.2 will be able to erase by simply recording on top of an existing recording. You can also erase by setting it to record without giving it an input. It will erase the tape but not record any new signal on it.
      An erase head will have a back centre and is always the leftmost head in any recorder that spools from left to right.
