The reason of his existance is code so messed up that the system has a stroke. If Missingno was to exist, it would be Arceus dying, or something so universally dooming that it's final creation is a mess of matter and antimatter.
The beginning makes it feel like after you've defeated it's first form, the pixels around you are slowly shifting and re-colliding. And then MissingNo find the willpower to fight again.
Even more gimmicky, once it falls, the next time you trigger another pokémon and that pokémon faints, the pokémon you used to defeat said pokémon would glitch, and you'd need to faint the glitched pokémon to fight against MissingNo again. Running away would make you loose the glitched pokémon.
For context, go read the prequel to this comment on a video this guy made called "Vs. Missingno - Fanmade Pokémon song (MissingNo Phase 1)" You walk away, with a whole new appreciation for your life, but wait... This really makes me wish for some new plots and formulas in the mainline Pokemon games. Gamefreak has plenty of intriguing elements in their games (Glitch or not) and i feel that they do not use them at times, which is saddening, of course, Missingno is one of these points of interest. I've longed for a game where this abomination is the focus. Perhaps rather than another evil Organization we can have some corrupted AI, perhaps an older, failed version of Porygon trying to reach the status of Arceus and actually doing some damage on the region, making the situation feel urgent and important rather than focusing solely on gyms and obtaining badges.
