So, f*ck the environment as long as your guitar is slightly lighter? Thought of doing a bit of excercise? I support Harley Benton 100% on this one. I definitely prefer better pickups, bridges, nuts, frets and tuners to a "tonewood" that hardly (if at all) affects the sound. Maybe you should buy a PRS? Mr. Marmite over there claims tonewood is a thing because he says so.
@@user-bh5yr7wc1v To each their own. I play metal, so to me the wood don’t matter. My 5 year old HB LP is heavy, but I lift weights so that’s ok. I just think that whoever’s responsible for the design language is making all the right choices. But I understand your POV and I forgive you for not sharing my enthusiasm. ;p
Changed all hw on all my HBs, so your message is pointless. Have a US Tremonti PRS as well. Liked HB until they switched to meranti. The wood and the craftsmanship was very good on mahogani HB guitars, now it is just the latter. I only kept the boards of HBs, everything else was changed, as it is cheap and not really good, incl.pickups. Meranti is not just heavier, it sounds worse. Do your research. It is a cheap tonewwod, one of the cheapest there is. If you guys at Thomann want to build meranti guitars, at least do proper chambering. Or return to mahogani. Or do both (best option) and increase your prices a bit. I wouldn't mind (literally nobody would) paying 50 dollars or euros more - if you built it this way. The way you've chosen to take is a road to hell. Your guitars are now made of plywood, and that, sorry to say that, is a thing you just cannot replace on a piece. Everything else, you can... 😢

I have the original SC Custom in white, I love this guitar, It is more like an ESP Eclipse than a Les Paul but I like this, I had to change out the Wilkinson pickups as I think they were the fake ones, but I put Fluence pickups in and routed out a battery housing, it is an awesome sounding guitar now! HB did not knowingly put fake Wilkinsons in their guitars, the fakes got into the Wilkinson supply chain, HB remedied this as soon as it became apparent. Kudos to HB!

I'd specifically like to see a more modern, Strandberg-style headless, because I really hate the Dullahan shape. But if they have to do a lot of research and development inhouse, it will drive their prices up. Ultimately, it's just easier and cheaper for them to copy other guitars and change the colours around every 4 to 6 months.
Does anyone know how the VR pickups hold up against the Opus 1 and the Roswell's? Im torn between this, SC custom 2 and yhe 550 2 Main difference is the pick ups so any help deciding would be nice
They are not necessarily superior ranges, but sure, there are models that are definitely more expensive, like the guitars with EMG pickups. These Custom 3 guitars are a modern take on the LP shape, the SC550s are THE LP shape take from HB. Different things for different purposes.
That design in the center of the headstock is rather ugly, anyhow I'm lefty anyways:-7 PS: One thing that strucks me about this particular model is the back finish, simil to the front, really nice.

Fantastic guitar. The only point to improve is the freatboard material. A darker wood would look much better
You can get a stain for it
Boiled flaxseed oil is one of the best for Roasted Jatoba, and it does darken up the fretboard quite a bit.
minwax dark walnut stain pen is what I used on mine
Olive oil

Guys, put some Boiled flaxseed oil on those Roasted Jatoba fretboard, it'd look amazing, also for these promo videos.
incredibly beautiful
Love the new Headstock inlay! Really unique. Hoping it also gets incorporated in other SC customs with classic looks. Great Job HB!
Nah is ugly, and make no sense with the overall design/aesthetics of the guitar. They probably had a warning from the authentic guys.

What a beauty!!!!!
Oooh I want one. Have one of the older versions and it is a great guitar to. ❤
I just want the gold top paint. I have a project guitar I would love to gold top with that shade of gold.
Can't wait for the demos of the new sc custom III actives!
Looks great,sounds great. Awesome.
Byebye Gibson...... hello Harley Benton! 😜
The tone sounds really darn good in this demo. Looks sharp too!
Thanks!
I love that gold!
Some of the new Custom SCs have graphite nut and some plastic nut. Is this really necessary?
I was wondering too
Needs a dark fretboard to be perfect.
Boiled Flaxseed Oil best for Jatoba imo. It darkens it up, like lemon oil does for Rosewood.
Glad I waited for the SS frets to land!
Just ordered this model. 🎉🎉
Gold top with P90 version. Please 🙏🏻🤘🏻
I have one now. They are ok. No idea why it's a Gold Top when it's all gold.
Georgeous. A review with the active tesla pick-ups please Harley Benton ?
Q mebas a decir ,toda la razón,
why not give the fusions a tesla pickup upgrade with the same wilkinson bridges?
Splitting hairs here, but is it technically a gold top if the back is gold as well? 😉
I own lots of HGs but I'm not sure about this design. Ok I bought one
Waiting SC 550 III plus EMG PAF 😅
Will this be available in that gorgeous black with gold furniture at some point?

great stuff. but an all golden guitar is not a gold top.

Can’t u really find a better wood for the fretboard? Looks very ugly
Jatoba is very durable as a fretboard and probably cheaper than pau ferro or rosewood.
