- Part 2 of my winter sowing project in 2023. I winter sowed native plant seeds in February, and these are the results.
Growing native plants is easy but we all have successes and failures along the way. Hopefully this video will encourage some of you who are thinking about growing from seed next year.

I love your videos!
I’m starting my native gardening journey and will be winter sowing seeds for the first time this winter. I hope it turns out OK. 😭
You and me! LET’S GO and best of luck
The right gloves 😂 relatable content
You still have GLOVES?! 😂
I don’t have any as my dog takes em.
I’m so impressed with your winter growing!
Haha thank you and yes, they do love gloves! Especially if they have dirt on them! 🌱🌱🌱
I didn't think of doing it with lids on. I just put them into old plug trays or 2 inch pots and set them out. I usually get good germination that way but I wonder if would happen earlier with covers and the plants could get a little head start. I'll have to try this, thanks for the video!
You definitely did that, Ms. Lisa 😲💚💚!
Thanks for watching!
Great video. Totally pops. And I'm paying too much for the Prairie smoke too!
Thanks! 🌱🌱🌱
Excellent information. I’ll have to try this! We have such weird weather here in SE Arizona, 8A . Putting them in containers outside never occurred to me, but it will solve the cold but low humidity problem. Thanks
Thanks for watching! 🌱🌱🌱
I think I have all of your LEFT gloves! 🤣
GIVE THEM BACK 😂🌱🌱🌱
I have the same glove problem because I always wear holes in the right hand first lol
Stay warm! 🌱🌱🌱
You can always throw the pot that didn't grow in an empty spot, maybe it just wanted more time
Absolutely! Especially the shrubs that have seeds with a hard shell, like the viburnums, I'm going to leave them for a second winter if I need to. Thanks for watching!
I have that glove problem too 😅
The struggle is real
Me too

What kind of soil did you use? The jugs that were successful are the healthiest i have ever seen!
Thanks so much! I used promix. That's what a lot of the nurseries use.
Did you take seedlings from bottles and plant directly into garden?
Yes! I planted extra in case some didn't make it. 🌱🌱🌱
Thanks. I'm about to move mine to the garden, but I was going separate and move to separate little pots first as an inbetween step.
