Thank you for always being so transparent with your creativity and selflessly allowing people to copy your ideas to help make the game better! We appreciate ya Tim :)
Wish I’d found your video before I started working on my gadget-cache birdhouse . . . I’m like your ideas and designs a lot more than the gimmicks I tried. I guess I’ll just have to (finally) paint, finish, and hide this one . . . And start the next one! Different meaning than usual, but . . . THANKS FOR THE CACHES! - GeoCrunchyBill
Oh yes, we remember that geocache very well. We have found it October 2016. And that Inn was also a good place to stay. We would like to come back one day. Best wishes and thx from Germany.🤙
I like using PVC board outside instead of pine. PVC is more expensive, yes, but it will never rot, never leak. Pieces with also fuse together well with a PVC rated expoxy. The material is also paintable. It makes cache maintenance low to not needed at all. Thanks for sharing, Tim. :)
Thanks for the new video!!! So excited. You are the inspiration for my birdhouse gadgetcaches. I have built 5 of the seven gadgetcaches in my area. I am halfway through building 5 more for a gadgetcache power trail. Thanks again.
Great idea for a cache and the construction looks pretty simple. Love the paint job. Hoping we can get down your way again to find this and more of your great hides.
So glad you posted this one up. We always draw inspiration from your gadget caches. My husband, Jonathan, did a series where he put the gadget inside ammo cans so we didn’t have to make the bird houses. Have you ever thought of doing it that way?
I've done a few but they have to be hidden of course and the few I have done have been stolen. I still prefer hiding in public places where business take "ownership" of the cache. They keep and eye on it for me.
WHAT!!!! No signature WVTim sign off, 'raising the geocaching bar one cache at a time!' :) I really like the idea and concept. Down here in the south, I am like Derek, wasp! Might put a removal flap or something like that over the opening. I will come up with something, but thank you for sure for getting me thinking about building one! Nice video and thanks for sharing the idea... Nice build.
I think "Hunter" makes all my videos. She is not a house cat but a BARN cat and that Barn shop is HER house. She getting pretty old, hope she makes it to a couple more videos.
I watched the video a couple times, very cool cache, luv the idea,,,,Only question I have is, have you had any trouble with wasps and hornets building their nests in the slot you stick your hand up in to activate the motion detector?
WVTim have you had any problems with wasps flying up inside and making a nest? On some of mine that I did is South Carolina that was a problem with many caches. Just curious.
That's a perfect spot for wasp on this cache, but in 7 years never a problem. Might be I get soooo many people finding my caches that the activity prevents them from getting started. Not sure why, but no problems on this one.
This is a great idea for a cache. Do you have a link for the lights and PIR? I'm trying to find one on EBay and Amazon UK but they all seem to be one piece rather than ones you can separate.
Video at 4:25 points out that I separated, I just cut off one light entirely and the other I cut the plastic and then the wires and I explain that I added a piece of wire in.

So excited to see a new video from you!! I knew I turned those notifications on for a reason!
Thank YOU!
Wonderful cache. Thanks for showing it to us in such detail.

Nice way of creating a cache based on an existing product!
Many of mine do that, I've used an Etch a Sketch, xylophone, legos, marbles, easy button and I could go on and on.
Awesome! Such a neat idea 😍
Thanks for sharing!!

Good for you, glad I can give you some ideas. Good luck on your build.
Love a video that combines the Maker movement with geocaching.
Thanks for the new video and awesome ideas. Glad to see you back. I hope to run across one of your caches soon.
Yesssss 🎉🎉 he’s back!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
MY FRIEND from across the ocean. Good seeing hearing from you. Get that county of yours in Covid control so we can come in April!!!
@@gadgetcaches 🙏🏻🙏🏻 let’s hope so!

Love to have you visit. We've had lots of visitors from Canada.

Great idea, wish I would have thought of that. If I end up with a wasp problem, I can always add one.
Oh come one, your geocats actually built this gadget cache. Admit it! Lol.

another great cache tim :)
So how does the two lights get the lock open ? Thanks.
It's a 4 digit combination lock. When the light is on it will give you the combination as seen in the video
OK ! Thanks Tim I love your videos' !!
yes, but that is a secret!
@@gadgetcaches Absolutely !! No worries.....
welcome back Tim.... Welcome back...
What if dangerous insects make a nest in the big hand cavity?
I watched the video a couple times, very cool cache, luv the idea,,,,Only question I have is, have you had any trouble with wasps and hornets building their nests in the slot you stick your hand up in to activate the motion detector?
I could see that could happen but no, no nest have ever been built there. I guess all the activity keeps them away.
WVTim have you had any problems with wasps flying up inside and making a nest? On some of mine that I did is South Carolina that was a problem with many caches. Just curious.

@@gadgetcaches Here in Ontario we put dryer sheets in areas where wasps may try to make nests, apparently they can detect the smell and don't like it.

Found one. For anyone in the UK this looks similar to the one used www.screwfix.com/p/saxby-laryn-led-floodlight-pir-black-1-x-2w-daylight/5278j

Which of your designs would you say hold up the best in harsh winters?
Birdhouse like this one should last for years and years. One way to extend the life of any birdhouse is to put a tin roof on it.
Hi there wvtim I’m curious to as how you are putting the 4x4 posts into the ground
I just use a post hole digger, I try to bury them 18-24 inches. Use a tamping bar to tamp them in well, makes them rock solid.
What type of fiberglass paint do you use?
Check out the video at about 7 minutes, its not a paint but and epoxy... I use West System for outdoor applications.
I’ve watched this twice and never saw how you solve it.
The two lit holes have numbers. They are the 4 digits for the combination lock
