One of my undergraduate professors resigned her position at our large university to take a job at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. When I asked her what drew her to take that job, she told me, "It's Holland, Michigan!" I really didn't know what she meant...until watching this video! That's a beautiful place!
Ha! We have family that lives in Holland on my wife’s side of the family. I grew up south of their in St Joe, where we also have a lighthouse we are proud of. Many good memories of Pure Michigan.
Merry Christmas to the wonderful and inspiring Smith Family. What a gift to receive a notification that a new America's Parks video has dropped. Is Shane the tallest of the clan now? Wow! Excited to see more videos especially the Hawaii trip. Mahalo and Aloha
Pastor Randy!!! So great to see another video! It's wonderful that you get to celebrate Christmas with you family. I hope you have a blessed Christmas and that we see another video from you soon! Merry Christmas
Wow! You are in my backyard. I grew up in Holland on the south side of Lake Mac. Got married and moved just a little ways to the east. When looking for something to do, we almost always head to Holland State Park. Summer to swim, Spring and fall to watch the boats go in and out of the channel with a picnic meal next to the channel. There is one thing you missed. Up in the hills between Mt Picgah and the state park there is hidden in the woods along the sand dunes homes built in the late 1800's. Before the channel was built ,the water of Lake Mac ran to Lake Michigan in a stream that went to the north west. The homes were built along this stream. It is a historical district today and can be seen through the trees in winter but never during summer because of the leaves on the trees. Have a Blessed Christmas and New Year.
Wow! Congrats on the move! We loved Michigan, but I don't know about a winter there (being an ex-Southern California ocean girl)... Holland has such an awesome little downtown - one of our favorite "Main Streets". How fun to see it at Christmas time! Merry Christmas!
99/100 because you didn't use the crosswalk at 0:28. Someday you should do the car ferry from Muskegon to Milwaukee and drive down to Chicago and back home. Your son has grown a foot! He can probably reach the top cabinet above the fridge. What else, hmmm....oh haunted tiki Brady Bunch Hawaii series scared me as a kid. Merry CHRISTmas.
We really need next year's Christmas video to feature AP being visited by 3 ghosts of National Park rangers and learning a wholesome lesson of some sort.
Very blessed you are Randy. Merry Christmas.
Such a fun day! We love Holland!

Looks cold! Merry Christmas to you and the family.
Heyyy Randy, i love the beard!!!
Based on the sonic quality of the snow crunching, I'm guessing a temperature of 24F during that hike. 😉
