      I am about 40 and i converted few weeks ago.
      It started simply because i was tired of mach3 prices, so i wanted to try this out to spare some money.
      And it ended by buying complete set - Merkur Futur, some random razors, proraso, Tailor of Old Bond Street, Edwin Jagger, ... Muhle Bowl, Simpsons Wee Scott brush and really beautiful handmade leather handtashe made in England to keep it for rest of my life - stuff for about $400 :-D
      First shave after 20 years with mach3 was terrible, that forced me to check YT for some techniques, now i had about 6th. shave and i am shaving more BBS than with Gilette for sure, with less burn now. + i shave every second day, which was not able with m3.
      But i understand those who want to stay with cartridges, its like car with automatic transmission. It just works even if you dont know to drive :-D
      Now i am in love with wet shaving and that bring me here.
      @Kensurfs and @

    I love my Oneblade Core. Doesn't shave as close as most of my other DE razors but I don't get any nicks or ingrown hairs either. I liked it so much, I upgraded to the Hybrid. Been using that for a few months now and it does shave closer than the Core. I liked that one so much, I bought the Genesis!! (Oneblade had a great sale on and loyalty points went a ling way) Definitely worth ther shipping and customs charge to get delivered to the UK. I've converted a few friends too.

    Thanks for all the time and very valuable information you bring to the process of shaving. Bought a Core razor and used it seven to eight times. My beard is grey and not heavy anymore. I had two problems, the first was the blade fitting into the head. After the first shave, I changed to another blade and the next blade was not secure. It was loose in the up and down motions which changed the angle of contact. The other issue was a couple of times I needed a needle nose to remove the blade. I wrote the company for a return, they replied, send it back and you will get a credit in a few days. I thought that was strange because I was looking for some dialog or an exchange. Maybe the guy was just having a bad day. I'm ordering a FOCUS R48-7, the razor from a country of master craftsmen of leather goods, shoes and fashion. Time will tell.

    I'm always amazed how the likes of Old Spice and Brut original's still smell as wonderful as they did back in the 70's. You'd think the alcohol would have turned and ruined them. My uncle had that style bottle of Brut in 1975! Nice video and liked the Zippo magic.

    Great shave, Ken! I recently got my Merkur 34c, and I can’t believe how well it shaves. BBS consistently! Also, I guess the single edge blades are a good idea in concept, like the supply razor and blades, but the fact that you have to get blades specifically for that razor definitely takes off some points in my book. Hope your week is going well!

      Problem I had with the Supply Co. razor was I lacerated myself pretty badly twice and my third (and last) shave with it was mediaocre) and although loading a new blade appears (and should be) simple, it's too easy to drag the edge of the blade against the blade stops and effectively ruin the razor (the main reason my first two shaves sucked). Additional charge for the optional 'mild' and 'aggressive' settings (which I never used) was a slight bummer. Their soap and post shave balm are really nice (and they're coming out with a men's care line which looks promising). Customer service was great and I opted for their 'keep it, save us the expense of shipping and disposal and we'll give you half your money back' offer. Might try it again but for now it's sitting in my closet.

    You do just fine with the lather. There are videos from guys I really like a lot, but they spend more than 10 minutes brushing on the lather on, and then the video runs 35 minutes. I pass on many of the long videos and that frustrates me, as I really enjoy the chat during the shave from some guys. I just don't have time to sit for many 35 minute shave videos. Skipping ahead I miss out on the chat, so that doesn't work either. Most of us shaving this way for awhile tune in for the chat from guys like you and the products.

    You did a good job of shaving with a new razor you have never used before and I would say you shaved as if you had it for some time( you applied pressure and that is the secret when using the core IMO). I recently also purchased the Oneblade core and it is a excellent daily driver for folks who have to shave daily because of job demands. The Feather blade works well for a couple of shaves for myself and it gets tuggy on the third IMO. I use a modified Gem and it works well also and I also know that blade well also so I'm a happy camper. Oneblade had a great sale on the FHS-10 blades buy 30 and get 30 free and that brings the average shave around $.25 on a 2 use blade approx. I really like to use the core if I had a rough shave from a different razor prior use and I want a irritation free, nick free shave I like to reach for my Core lately it seems. Great video on some new products.

    You don't really need to use any more pressure than is necessary to engage the pivot.
    To engage it, you'll want to put the back (well, the top of the razor) on the skin and the pivot's going to sort the rest out.
    For me, the blades are the bane of the razor. They just seem to get blunt too quickly and I have to use twice as many passes as with almost any other blade.
    Also, Kai Best blades fit it (put should only be inserted one way, so "BEST" is readable while inserting them, otherwise they can be quite difficult to remove), but they're carbon steel and tuggy right away, so not a very nice option.
    The Leaf, Focus R48 and the Broman razor shave better because of the blades they use, but the One Blade razors are actually better engineered, IMO. Quite a shame, really.

    It has taken quite a while, but I will finally be ready to make the change from my Sensor III. My 3 considerations this Razor, The Twig, and Supply Company. Twig is my front runner for cost and variety of blades. The One Blade… the blades are more expensive and what if Feather decides to stop making the blades? I would be SOL! Supply… is just a bit expensive for me at the moment. I wish there was a way I could talk/text this out with you.

    Just as a point of fact, those Feather blades are compatible with and originally made for Valet razors.

    • @toddmoore9841
      @toddmoore9841 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kensurfs Not that I know of. I don't have a Oneblade, so I can only speculate. I've read that early Oneblade razors could use spineless GEM blades, but they made later revisions to the razor that broke that compatibility. Kai does have some industrial blades that look very similar to the Feather FHS-10. But I won't be trying those on my face, even if I do pick up a Oneblade. www.kai-group.com/global/en/biz/industrialblades_special.html

    In a visual comparison to the Leaf, this might be good for my scalp; which I usually only shave once a week. I use my mild DE now; however, against the grain on the back, neck up to crown is some of the toughest hair to cut. This type may make that easier.
    Looking at their website, this is not an inexpensive shave. So my only justification would be that one blade should hopefully last me a month each, at once per week use.

    I have a OneBlade Core and it's a nice razor but NOT any better(or worse)than a vintage GEM or Micromatic and etc. In my opinion the shave technique is not radically different from the aforementioned. However removing the blade can be tricky. Sometimes it does not want to come out and other times it slide out easily. I suppose at the end of the day it is the type of razor each person has to try out personally.

      OneBlade's web site currently has the Core model on sale for $19.99. This is a great deal, since OneBlade revised the material of the Core razor head from Tritan polymer to Polyphenylene Sulfide polymer (supposedly increasing the longevity of the razor head). Curiously, a OneBlade razor comparison page says the Core is still made from Tritan, so who knows... I guess tolerances and other factors were a reason why the OneBlade isn't available in a metal with lesser quality than stainless steel. If I preferred mild razors I'd consider the Hybrid (with a stainless steel head) instead of the Core. Unfortunately, it's currently $129.00. Still, Mantic59 has lots of good things to say about the OneBlade Core in his article "My Long Term Evaluation Of OneBlade Razors" (written one year after the OneBlade Core was released). Hope it works out for you.
