Thank you Gary. I'm very pleased with this clone saw its working great. I'm glad to hear that. I've went back and forth on including this mishap in the video, but I hoped that someone might see it and think twice or get them a pair. It was close on being much much worse. Thanks for watching.
Hey Mike. That was a close call and still nasty. I'm ready for more protection also, I've been dancing with the devil way too long. The tree with the broken top, ya might want to deal with the top first by securing it to the tractor with rope and adding some tension between the way it fell and the direction you want the bottom section to fall, split the difference. Stand on the opposite side of tension and start your face cut. Keep looking up. The saw works some nice.
Mr Kenny, thank you. That sure was close. I'm very thankful it wasn't worse. I've had some close calls over the years but finally got bit. Great advice on that tree with the broken top. Those things can be dangerous. I don't need any more close calls.
I was thinking about wrapping rope or chain around the tops and pulling em away. That is one of those situations I am not quite sure what I would do with no equipment.
Tripping hazards become even more of an issue with the straps on the back of your legs. I went down fairly hard recently because of em. Glad you didn’t get bit even worse. Stay safe Mike
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead I could easily have been impaled with the broken off oak branches I was in. It ripped my shirt and I was bleeding pretty good. "Nothings safe"
@@oakiewoodsmanOh man. Im glad it was just a torn up tee shirt and glad your ok. That is an eye-opening experience. I honestly wouldn't have thought about the staps catching but I can see that happening now. This is a hobby that can sure injure or kill someone in a hurry. As I get older I realize I'm not as bullet proof as I once thought. It's still enjoyable to do and a great skill to pass on to the kids. Just got to make sure everyone stays safe.
I agree. I always keep a tape on that machine just because it comes in handy sometimes. I have already replaced it with a working one. Mr Joe it sure was a fun build and its starting to wake up. It definitely has an appetite.
Glad you’re ok , sometimes we learn the hard way 😂, I bought my first pair last year, got too keep reminding myself to use them, cut for years without them, saw ripping good 👍🚜🪵🔥🇨🇦🇱🇷
Mr, Joe that's good advice. I suspected it was going to leak. Before i built it i watched one of your episodes about the one you had leaking oil all the time. I guess that's to be expected. Ill look into it further some time soon and see if its something i can fix or just deal with it for now.
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead zeromark has built a neotec clone. Just talked to him today about it. I didn't think to ask about leaking. He ran 7 tanks through his today alone. I think he put all aftermarket in. He mentioned he is going to swap the chain adjuster to OEM though.
I am super glad you are ok. Cannot stress enough about PPE (however my viewers could call me a hypocrite as of late). Better to be safe than sorry. As you said, could've been a LOT worse. Love the clone, glad its ripping for ya. Looking forward to more videos on it. Keep cuttin'!!!!
Hey Travis. Thank You. For sure things can go wrong in a hurry. Im glad it wasn't worse and i could pass this along. Hopefully it will help someone out in the future or at least get them thinking about wearing their PPE.
Oaks are super susceptible to ground compaction around their bases. If you drive a dozer around and clear around them, they can die within a few years. I killed some of mine running a 12k lb track loader around them. I started to researching it and found that is the most likely cause.
That would make since. I suspected that being the case. Its a bummer for sure. As much timber was in that pasture and we hand picked certain straight mature oaks to keep. Then they end up dying. That tree in the video that the top was broken out of. That was actually the only oak in that area of the pasture that was still alive. I Have 5 more oaks right around that tree that have died and I'm going to have to cut down. Thanks for watching Mr. Joe
saw eats quite well. i'm glad you included the mishap bc it gives me a wakeup call to start wearing my chaps again...thumbs up !!

@TheRustyGarageandHomestead the tractor bucket might rip it off too. Depending on how much fiber is holding.

Thank you Mr Joe. I didn't even think of that. I could see them getting hung up on limbs for sure.
Glad your ok.

Hey Mike, I saw you over on Brocks channel and came to see what you are about. Great stuff buddy!!
Mr Dan thank you. I truly appreciate you saying that. Hopefully there is something I've published that you woukd find informative. Thanks again
Bummer you broke your tape and the saw is performing very well. I am going to want to build one now 😉

Your saw is running very well Mike! I like it. It is leaking just like my Neotec did. Don’t leave it full cause it will all leave. 😂
