Wow! You really had a wonderful reading month, Nicky! How great!
Oh, I haven't read 'The Pickwick Papers' since I was in college! Your pleasure in it makes me want to re-read it! 😊
Very insightful to note that perhaps because you love Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot so much you're not as drawn to read Sherlock Holmes. That might ring true for me as well.
Although I will say, I read through the first ten of Laurie King's Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series about fifteen years ago and very much enjoyed them. I guess there are nine more books at this point, but I'd definitely need to re-read from the beginning if I ever go back to that world!
I felt the same way about 'The Woman in White,' so now I want to read 'The Moonstone.' 😁
Hahaha! I'm about 12% into five different NF books at this point. Can't make up my mind either, so maybe I'll just keep reading them all like this. 😂
    Thanks for sharing! ❤

@@WildHeartsandWildflowers good to know I’m not the only one spreading myself thin across all these good books haha. Haven’t heard of Laurie King so now I will probably check Goodreads lol because I do love a good mystery series. And I’m so glad my raving about Pickwick papers had a positive effect and not a negative one 😂 How lucky you got to read it in college… I wish I had read it sooner but dickens always intimidated me.

@MyMessyBookshelf Yes, but I tell myself that not reading all the classics when I was younger means I still have so many great first reads ahead of me! ☺️

    What a great reading month!
I also read The Picture of Dorian Gray in October, my favoriteof the month. I enjoyed Something Wicked This Way Comes last October.
Now, I am really looking forward to picking up The Moonstone and The Pickwick Papers at some point!
I also really enjoyed reading The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in October.
I planned on reading Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed for nonfictionNovember, but picked up the audio of H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald (narrated by her) and it's very good. My physical read right now is World Without End by Ken Follett.

Thanks for watching 🙂 Sounds like you had a great reading month as well! Wild sounds like it could be very interesting. Haven’t heard of H is For Hawk before… a nature book? I need to read more Ken Follet. I read Pillars of the Earth several years ago and really enjoyed it. Is the one you’re reading a sequel or a separate timeline completely?

@MyMessyBookshelf I read Pillars of the Earth first. World Without End is several hundred years later. Next year, I'll read the prequel The Evening and the Morning.
H is for Hawk is a beautifully written memoir. Hope to read the Cheryl Strayed book as well, if I find time.

I bought The Pickwick Papers on my Kindle! Not sure when I’ll read it but glad to have it. 😊 I read The Picture of Dorian Gray years ago. I might give it a reread next year. I have The Woman in White and The Moonstone. Haven’t read them yet.
For October, I read a ton of fantasy romance, a couple of paranormal romance and one literary fiction. Enjoyed all of them. lol

What a great month you had! I’m so curious to try T Kingfisher, I keep hearing it’s a good one for those of us who get scared easily and they seem really enjoyable and entertaining. I think it’s perfectly fine to dip into different books at once, and I don’t think you need to get yourself together at all! 😊 Maybe just keep dipping and eventually one will stick. That sounds like I’m saying something else but I’m just talking about the books alright! 😂 I hope November will be a fantastic month for you too!

@@ellenmadebookclub 🤣 I will keep dipping! But yes! Please try T Kingfisher sometime! I’ve enjoyed everything so far and I think I’ve read four books. Interested to see what books you pick up for the neuro event you are doing because I might find yet another nonfiction to add to my list lol!

@@MyMessyBookshelf Haha good! 😂 Yes, I think I will have to! You've convinced me!
So far I've only started Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason forNeurovember. I needed something before bed and the nonfiction ones didn't feel like the most relaxing. I think I'll need to pace myself with those and read a little bit each day. Looking forward to them though, but maybe more for a walk than for sleepy time!

Yeah, I was completely surprised by the side quest to UTAH in A Study in Scarlet. I didn't really find it offputting, mostly because I enjoyed it just on its own, but I liked how it all came together in the end.
