It's a shame we'll likely never see this version of Jill if Capcom ever returns with the VS series. They could give the moveset to someone else, but I can't quite think of anyone at the moment (Black Widow if she didn't already exist?)

Do you always have to back dash for the machine gun spray to connect?
Not so it connects but so it gets the most damage out of the super;
Not backdashing gives you less damage I think but I could be just dumb
Just like @madeuinheavan108 said, if you don't back dash, you get fewer shots to hit the opponent, which will lead to less damage
You can also use certain assists to help the super get more damage. Examples like Zero’s Ryujen, Spider-Man’s Spider Sting, and some others.

My god Jill is so bad in this game. So much effort for such little damage. Mess up once and she dies easily because of her low health.
