Sir, are you aware that Mad Catz, manufacturer of Rock Band equipment, went out of business on March 30, 2017? In January of 2018, they were acquired by Logitech and now only manufacture keyboards, mice, mouse pads, and headsets.
It's such a shame we didn't get this on the PC. I would've personally preferred it over the Xbox or PS4 version because it would allow for more instrument support overall. Plus it means improved servers over Steam connection. Since it is suspected that Harmonix is responsible for taking down Phase Shift from Steam, it would be nice to get an official rhythm game on the platform.
Buying a console would also justify for racing games as well since those are always short lived. And maybe the occasional game you can only get from disk only.
It shouldn't be the job of the player to pay you to develop a port. This is just exploiting the generosity of gamers who frequent kickstarter and such. Indie devs I can understand since they don't always have the money to get the level of quality they want, but you're a AAA company, you shouldn't HAVE to ask people to crowdfund your games.
+Altoryu They don't have EA and MTV Games backing them up this time around. That's why they have to rely on the community to support them to do anything at all with RB4. It's sad, but that's just the way it is for them now. :c
Honestly, I'd be much more excited if it were a port of RB3, rather than RB4. I realize that'd be highly unrealistic, but to be honest, RB4 still just feels like a highly downgraded RB1. Hell, I'd love a revival of the RBN, but it saddens me that it's through the PC version only, rather than consoles.
my main question is even if this becomes successful, will they be able to transfer all rbn songs to consoles or will both consoles get the treatment that the ps3 received for rbn?
They explain it in the FAQ. Consoles won't have a full-fledged version of RBN, but selected songs might make it. Back then, Xbox 360 got RBN only because of XNA, which allowed creators to test and publish their own content themselves. PS3 didn't allow for such a system, and thus only got selected songs from XNA. Now, XNA is dead and neither Xbox One nor PS4 allow for user-generated content. The only way to make it happen would be the PC, and Steam Workshop seems like a good choice.
If you guys find some way to bring our DLC to the PC, then I am all in, 100%. Otherwise.. I don't know. Rock Band 4 is missing a LOT of the core features that made the game so immersive. I'm happy to play Rock Band 4 and support you guys since you've provided me with literally thousands of hours of entertainment over the past decade. But I am still consistently switching back and forth from RB3 on 360 to RB4 on PS4 (Yup I'm one of those cases). If there could be some kind of solution that can be found through bringing the RBN and collection to PC, while saving people from having to rebuy music they already own-- that would be an incredible accomplishment. Maybe some kind of Rock Band account with account linking to gamertags and PSNs, recognizing owned songs on all platforms? I don't know if something like that would be possible for the PC, but that would be the real accomplishment out of everything if it were the case. Either way, I'm excited to hear this news, and I wish the team the very best in making this happen :)
This game died when Mad Cats went under. No one can buy the XB1/PS4 instruments anymore and people are selling them for ridiculous prices. People are even selling the old PS3 Instruments without the wireless dongles that to deliberately price gouge them for the dongles. Harmonix's solution to play Rock Band 4 is to give in to these people and pay an insane amount of money for the controllers.
Wow how i didn't know about this back in 2016? I will support this to get Rock Band 4 to PC if you guys read this and in the future put RB on PC (RB4 or RB5) please make all the DLCs available to buy or redownload every single song and export that was released i will not dislike it if i have to rebuy DLCs
+Elvis Sanchez Nope, apparently "not enough people used it" to justify including it. Personally, I believe they got their data from people who went through the process of signing into Xbox Live/PSN through the in-game menu, and I don't know anyone who'd bother doing that just to go into practice mode.
***** You might be right. I remember not signing in a lot when I had RB3 for the 360. Damn it! I used the hell out of Practice Mode to get through some tough songs.
Not 100% sure how this campaign is going to do, but I hope for everyone's sake it goes well so we can get RBN happening again. Also, not to be a suck up, but I had a lot of fun playing songs like The Final Battle and Level 1 - Winter City in RB3. Do you reckon some more of your songs will come to RB4 if the Fig campaign goes well?
The only reason this didn't get funded was because no one knew about it! I mean seriously... you chose some website no one's heard of before to crowdfund the game, and no one... they talk about tools to make the custom songs and such, but how would the people willing to make them handle a song to work with original stems / multitracks like the official songs do?
the game uses multiple audio files for a single song (and all of them), so when making a new custom song, you would need access to said song's studio stems, but i read in their FIG page that the user-created content is supposed to be literally user-created music, not getting a song from an actual artist and making a chart for it like in Frets on Fire or PhaseShift. in other words i've answered my own question since a while ago

RBN! NEED! Most my good songs are there! So I'm guessing this means that those who invested in the RBN previously will be left out? I'm not going to complain about about adding MORE options (ever, more is good!).. but I won't be happy if RBN will only be on PC :/ For now, I can't bother to invest (nor afford to). I paid the equivalent of 333 USD (more than the US cost) to buy RB4 on release which was a hell in Europe, to have it turn around even cheaper in the US. Europe didn't get RB4 advertising, Europe misses out on cool opportunities like the Road Crew thing. I'm tired of eating it for next to nothing in return.
I assume things just didn't really go too well with the launch/sales of Rack Band 4 that they need to crowd fund a port of this game. Don't get me wrong, I would love a version of this for PC it is the main thing I play on after all, it just seems like 2mil is asking alot maybe? The real concern I have is what the main issue many people have with this. I assume it is the fact that PC users have to pay just to get a port? You pretty much do that when you buy it anyway and I would assume if you help fund it you'll get a copy of the game anyway. I mean that is usually a tier reward right? So in the end you are just gonna buy the game normally if this is successful. I mean, if what I heard is true and they just truly need help funding a game you enjoy is that a bad thing? I am generally curious. Is this truly as bad as people make it out to be?
If they brought all the user songs over to consoles then I would easily put up $300. Since they're not and I got burned by RB4 once (about 900 different ways), I hope the fig campaign fails. Note it will also likely make some bigger artists less likely to release songs, so it will probably mean the death of getting several big acts as well.

Is this truly as bad as people make it out to be?
please make the wiimote based instruments compatible
"but there's something missing." yeah. online matchmaking
PUT IT ON PC!!!!!!!!!
"You lost me at Tim Schafer."
This is amazing thank you Harmonix
YO where the f did this campaign go? How come this was hardly talked about anywhere? This shit absolutely pisses me off.
they barely got 50% of the funds they wanted
but hey, they wanted $1,500,000 for a mere PC port
@@swagnamite1337 Pretty sad, consider they develop games on PC's and Macs and then say that porting it is work but?????????????????????????????????????????
