    Good tips and thanks for the video. I have an Esprit 150mm telescope and I wanted to use my Starlight Instruments Feathertouch focuser on the scope but I need a M65 extension to use it. It took me a very long time to find a M65 extension. I finally acquired the 57mm extension from the same site you used. The adapter is well made, works really well and amazingly good value.

    Thanks so much Astroshed! This is the video I’ve been waiting for😀 I’ve got the 120, and I’ve wanted a rotator for a while now, I tried to get one at the Practical Astronomy show and the International Astronomy show and as you said, no one makes one at that thread size! Also, my focus tube comes right out to 80+ and that has caused the EAF to occasionally fail if it hits the stop limit when winding out, it’s a fine line! Your tips will surely help so thanks for sharing and clear skies👍

      Hi Stuart. Brilliant video. Thanks for the tips. I watched your video a couple of weeks back and went ahead to order the 27mm and 36mm spacers from Ali Express. Everything arrived in the UK within a week or so. Quality seems quite good! Looking forward to trying one of them out on my Esprit 120 on a clear night.
      Cheers. Bernard.

    Great info because this can be quite an issue finding adapters for this kind of setup. When I got my Pegasus Astro Falcon rotator for my Esprit 120 about 3 months ago, I was finding the same adapter issue. After quite some discussion with Sidereal Trading in Australia who were in contact with Pegasus Astro, shortly after (about 2 to 3 weeks later) Pegasus Astro had these adapters available and I was able to install the Falcon rotator in front of the field flattener and it all works extremely well. Clear skies.

    Good tip about the M65 extension tube to bring in the focusser.
    About the M65 thread, I believe Primalucelab has the Arco 3" rotator with M65 thread, so no problem but very expensive piece of kit
    The Esprit 80 also has 65mm thread on the focusser, so the same as the 100
    Also if you want to use a rotator it's always best to place it before the flattener, because the flattener should also rotate, therefor Primalucelab and Pegasus Astro makes these adapters.

    Nice find on the M65 to M54 conversion rings. I absolutely hate the stock rotator on my Esprit100 but didn't want to drop the $800+ US for the PrimalucaLab electronic rotator. I've looked and looked and couldn't find something to get rid of the stock one and use the WO manual rotator. Sounds like I have an option the Pegasus adapter rings. I'm guessing $200 for the two adapters and the WO manual rotator. Seems silly to have two rotators but I really dislike the stock one!! Thanks!!

    Hi,
    Thank you for the tip. I am the owner of a Esprit 120, and I was always bothered with the focuser needing to be so much out.
    I just ordered the 36mm extension (I was tempted with the 57mm though).
    By the way, I am also an owner of a CEM70. Just like you, I believe. Could you please explain why you need to add a big weight on the front of you telescope? Maybe it the esprit 100 that needs to be place higher on the dovetail receptacle? Is there another usefull tip you would like to share around this? :)

    • @Astro_Shed
      @Astro_Shed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment, glad you found the video useful, the reason I use a weight on the front of my scope i so I can move it back slightly so it does not hit my roof in the obsy when in the home position, without the weight it means I have to push the scope further forward, and then it hits the roof in that position, it’s just a personal thing really…as it is the scope is pretty much bang in the middle and the mount saddle is nicely in the middle of the losmandy dovetail on the bottom of my scope…

    Hi Stuart, thanks for this video. I love the optics of my 120 but the rest is pretty poor. You talked of fitting a rotator which I would love to do but I can’t find an adapter to go from the male thread M54 on the William Optics manual version back up to the male M65 to go back into the flattener Do you have any knowledge of such a thing? The Pegasus M74 down to M54 will work fine at the other end. Thanks from NZ🇳🇿

      Hi and thanks for the comment, this is what you need, it will convert the M54 male to an M54 female then you use the Pegasus M54 to M65 adapter you mention, this is how I used a manual rotator..

    I do have one question. The ED120 has a pretty bad reputation for the focuser. There are lots of comments on Cloudy Nights about replacement focusers that will fit the 120. Agena has one GS-M-LRA-D-96 that supports a ZWO EAF focuser which I am considering adding to the rig
    . What are your thoughts on the focuser on your 100ED. I am guessing it the same focuser as the 120?? Thanks for any suggestions.

    • @Astro_Shed
      @Astro_Shed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be perfectly honest, I think the focuser is superb, as long as you have one that is set up well from the factory, ie nice and tight but smooth, some have been known to be a bit sloppy, and that’s where the issues start, but they are pretty easy to adjust if needed so don’t worry….

    I have an Esprit 100 ED and cannot seem to get good focus. I use a Bahtinov mask, get the correct spikes , but after i remove it I just cannot get a clear view. I was wondering if the Flattener has a issue. I want to remove it and seem if it helps. Also, I am cranked out to 600 mm to get that focus. I think I will try the spacer. Overall, I am not al all happy with this scope. I have three others and almost do not want to use it anymore. Should I try a 37mm or 57mm? Thanks for sharing the video. Mike ( USA)

    • @Astro_Shed
      @Astro_Shed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mike
      Sorry to hear your not happy with the Esprit, 60mm I think you mean not 600, but that is Normal for this scope, I would get the 36mm spacer that is what I use and my focuser is out about 25mm
      Never used a bahitnov mask as I use autofocus in NINA

      Worth trying without the flattener to rule out an issue with that 👍

    I have the Esprit 120 with the 0.77x reducer Flattener and a mirrorless camera which requires a 95mm backfocus from the end of the flattener to the camera sensor. How can put a rotator in the train. The manual stated no modification should be made with the train.

    • @Astro_Shed
      @Astro_Shed  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello,
      Thanks for the comment
      As you see in the video the rotator would go between the scope and the flattener, as the focuser tube comes so far out on these scopes to get focus, this allows you room before the flattener, but you need the adapters I also talk about in the video.
      I don’t have room either, between the flattener and the camera…👍🏻

    • @Astro_Shed
      @Astro_Shed  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also by adding the rotator between the scope and the flattener, it does not mess with the required backfocus, (flattener / reducer to sensor distance) as that is the other side of the flattener, which is what the manual is telling you not to change…

    I have Esprit 120ed. Tremendous optic, and total crap focuser. I put tried and trusted Moonlite focuser, and obviously it fixed problems.
    Now, Skywatcher telling that they will fix focuser, and according to them that sheeit cost 700-1K. Why they don’t want to buy it from me? They could fix it and use on new scope. People with lesser demand will be happy with it.
    By the way, Pegasus rotator is super. You don’t want to buy ZWO, do you. You have made proper choice for camera and don’t use ASAir.
