I asked the veterinarian why is he playing all the time without pause and he told me that it's only because he is a puppy when he grow up he will play less. BOY WAS HE WRONG!!! he played all day at least 1 hour without a break until the day he died. And he was ALWAYS happy. And he knew he was beautiful

My baby Leo is the sweetest dog imaginable - 10 years old and still acts like a puppy! He does have eye problems, but it hasn't dampened his spirits. Shih tzus are wonderful, happy dogs.
I picked up a homeless Shih Tzu 5 years ago. It took almost six months to get rid of all skin problems and parasite diseases. Now she is 11 years old, healthy and smart. She knows daily schedules of every family member. Terrific companion.

I have a shih tzu and he barely barks, only when someone rings the doorbell or a stranger enters. But after 2 minutes of excitement he settles down and is the friendliest and calmest dog ever. He's stubborn, but was trained when he was younger and listens to my parents.

i have one that is 4 years old now and he is like a human sometimes with how he acts. you can really tell his mood by how his fur sits on him so we always kbow when something is wrong with him. Skooter-the name of my shih tzu- loves to run around a jump a lot and whats funny is that he had a disk that was very slightly out of place, something that only happens in bigger dogs normally but it happen to him. We were all sad because he couldnt run around the house or run outside and bark at the cars and people down the ally. He's all better now though. I also had another one named Sassy who was a little princess with her personality, she had a pillow to lay on in every room in the house, she sort of went blind but we all loved her the same she died a few months after we got skooter. she must have been at less 17 years old when she passed on, we all loved her and cared so much for her just as much as we care for skooter.
they're actually really chill dogs, i have had one for most of my life got her when i was like 6 and now im 17 so thats 11 years and not once has she been anything but loving and a great lil pal
I love my Shih Tzu. His name is Titus and he has the puppy cut :). Titus wasn't as hard to train as they are making it out to be. He knows sit, paw... other paw (lift both paws),lay , roll over, spin around, and when I shoot him and say bang he plays dead. It wasn't hard it took about 15 minutes for each trick.

i have a shih tzu and he is the most precious thing ever. he is actually quite small for the breed, only 12 pounds, but he is so trusting, sweet, and pretty comical. he loves to be held upside down, belly up, like a little baby! i totally recommend these dogs for everyone that wants a cuddly, nice little buddy who will love you and follow you everywhere :)

You clearly know nothing about this breed. My grandmother was a Shih Tzu breeder for 20 years. I currently own one and can confidently say that they are far from dumb. In fact, one of the most intellectual breeds I've seen. My dog is brilliant. Not only do they have unique personalities, they can easily learn almost any trick you throw at them. He is like a border collie; he does Agility. One thing I absolutely love about this breed is that they have a calm and friendly demeanor. They are protective. When I was attacked, my dog leaped up and bashed his head into the man's pelvic area and bit down on him. The list goes on. Just a overall wonderful breed. I highly recommend this breed for new owners as they are easy to train and relaxed unlike terriers.
I've had 3 shih tzu's in my family. They are not that smart. They take many more repetitions to learn tricks than my german shepherd or sheltie did. Even a mutt learns faster than the little shih tzus. They are cute, but not the brightest dogs in the pack and you can argue all day but many (or most) breeds and mutts are more quick to learn than shih tzus.
I wonder who has the greater bias. It's like, I can tell someone if their kids are shitty if Ive only babysat, even if that parent thinks their kids are the sun, moon, and stars. They're blinded by a bias and salesmanship of the breed.

My Shih Tzu Brooke is quite the talk of the town. We have brought her into Chuck E. Cheese (never barks unless there's someone that comes in our house she doesn't know) in the doorway, Walgreens, and of course Petco. I love my little Princess Brooke! She is certainly the spoiled princess :)

They are smart dogs and can be trained. My dog can almost do all tricks like jumping through hoops and sneezing on command. I highly recommend this breed, especially for new dog owners.

Shih Tzu are the best !!!!!! my late Buddy left us on 02/22/2013 it was the most soul painful thing we had to do but it was his end he passed away from liver cancer the cancer went to his brain and well i dont need to go in detailed , all i have to say is if you feel something is wrong with your dog go to the vet right away , we had him for 7/8 blessed years we found out his illness in October and he stayed strong till February may he rest in peace my beautiful baby
My Shih Tzu Mandie is WONDERFUL with children. She was introduced to them very young. It all comes down to the temperment, training, and socaliztion you put them through. Mandie is 8 years old and Mason is 12 weeks old. Mandie is very smart and easy to train, Mason is a mess still in his puppy stage though! Each dog has a different temperment for sure!!! I love my little M&M's :)

Shih Tzus are very smart! They know how to manipulate their people, that is why they sometimes ignore your commands. They have to know you are serious and will follow through. They think about what you are asking. "HMMM...do I really want to come?" lol.

And because they are not very smart it's fun to watch them being silly. I've had a lot of dogs but the shih tzu is my favorite breed forever!
I miss my 14 year old Shi tzu Zeus. He was such a sweety and I grew up with him. He died in 2008 so I don't cry but when I see a dog that looks like him (black and white) I get really upset. It's been 4 years but I still feel sad.
I've grown up with Labrador Retrievers, it's the only dog I've ever known. But around this time last year, my parents let me get a Shih Tzu. She's a year old tomorrow, she's black and white, and her names is Bella. She's the sweetest thing ever. I still love my Labrador Retrievers, but I got to say, the Shih Tzu's are a really great pet, too. She sleeps with me every night and sleeps on my feet, just like they said in this video. :P
My shih-tzu is large and between 25-30 pounds. I'd imagine he's one of the larger shih tzus. I strongly recommend this dog for anyone with children. I got him at about 3 years at the local shelter after being found stray. He has treated everyone that has come into the house with nothing but kindness. He lets the baby pet and lightly smack like all babies do without reacting, and he likes to be around her and protect her. PS-I find a short haired way more cuter than a long haired shih tzu

Shih Tzu are the best !!!!!! my late Buddy left us on 02/22/2013 it was the most soul painful thing we had to do but it was his end he passed away from liver cancer the cancer went to his brain and well i dont need to go in detailed , all i have to say is if you feel something is wrong with your dog go to the vet right away , we had him for 7/8 blessed years we found out his illness in October and he stayed strong till February may he rest in peace my beautiful baby

My Shih Tzu Mandie is WONDERFUL with children. She was introduced to them very young. It all comes down to the temperment, training, and socaliztion you put them through. Mandie is 8 years old and Mason is 12 weeks old. Mandie is very smart and easy to train, Mason is a mess still in his puppy stage though! Each dog has a different temperment for sure!!! I love my little M&M's :)

Shih Tzus are very smart! They know how to manipulate their people, that is why they sometimes ignore your commands. They have to know you are serious and will follow through. They think about what you are asking. "HMMM...do I really want to come?" lol.
My aunt had two of these fluff balls. The most rambuctious, naughty, and cutest things ever. Sadly the one dubbed "peepee monster" from his 24/7 happy pee died but his daddy is still howling and shitting all over the place.

I am the happy owner (should I said owned by) of a cute male shih-tzu; his name is Weechee-Widdle & he simply melts the hearts of my hubbie & me. Since having babies for us has been difficult this doggie has changed our lives. We love him deeply, shih-tzus are adorable ♥
I just got a baby girl shih tzu and she's black with a white chest and blue eyes. She loves me and never walks away from me. She always wakes me up 7:00am. But she is really sweet. She sleeps all day on my lap. And she snores
They're so cute when they walk. They're like a mop with legs, lol.
We love our shih tzu his name is Heaven, I have four kids and with him is five and he is very, very smart. My kids and husband have been able to teach him several tricks but yeah when he is not in the mood, he is not in the mood.

They are not the smartest dogs but they behave very well if you are willing to train them.
And because they are not very smart it's fun to watch them being silly.

I miss my 14 year old Shi tzu Zeus. He was such a sweety and I grew up with him. He died in 2008 so I don't cry but when I see a dog that looks like him (black and white) I get really upset. It's been 4 years but I still feel sad.
I recently moved away form home for uni and I miss my little guy so much!!
I've grown up with Labrador Retrievers, it's the only dog I've ever known. But around this time last year, my parents let me get a Shih Tzu. She's a year old tomorrow, she's black and white, and her names is Bella. She's the sweetest thing ever. I still love my Labrador Retrievers, but I got to say, the Shih Tzu's are a really great pet, too. She sleeps with me every night and sleeps on my feet, just like they said in this video. :P

My shih-tzu is large and between 25-30 pounds. I'd imagine he's one of the larger shih tzus.
I strongly recommend this dog for anyone with children. I got him at about 3 years at the local shelter after being found stray. He has treated everyone that has come into the house with nothing but kindness. He lets the baby pet and lightly smack like all babies do without reacting, and he likes to be around her and protect her.
PS-I find a short haired way more cuter than a long haired shih tzu
