Dear friend, this is a very moving tribute to wonderful Johnny Crawford!! it haunted me in a way.....I don't get the connection to the Gene Pitney song, 24 hOURS FROM TULSA, although I remember it very well from around 1963. I have a lot of memories of that time.* One is getting to meet Johnny right in my home town of FORT WORTH TEXAS!!! He I believe had just wrapped up the 5th season of Rifleman, and was filming his movie, INDIAN PAINT in the Arlington area. My best friend and I met him twice over those two years, and what a thrill that was!!! So much happened in those intervening years, to all of us......the Beatles, the Vietnam war, the changes in music and US culture, the JFK assassination, the moon landing, etc. Fast forward to 2011, my husband and I traveled to Kentucky to see Johnny perform with an orchestra, long after he began that journey and part of his life. He was a terrific entertainer, and just as friendly and down to earth as he had been so long before in 1962 and 3. I am so glad we made that trip!!! Charlotte is a wonderful person, and they made a wonderful couple!! I pray for her, and for Bobby and Nance, and all the family, as for all the "family" at the Celebration of Johnny's Life. I just watched it and am inspired. Life is good!! * In 1962, when I first met Johnny, I was leaving behind some wonderful times.....the school I had just "promoted" from. The teachers there had a profound effect on my life. One in particular, my 6th grade teacher, passed on May 2 of this year. It seems so strange how all the loose strings in our lives have a way of tying together at certain times. Now I am hearing that familiar old song, thinking about my teacher and Johnny each of whom had a direct effect on my life! The power of Almighty God.....and I am thankful......Thank YOU for your tribute!!!!

Johnny was one of the best childhood actors I have ever seen, Johnny would put himself into his character and he made Mark McCain seem like a real life character. I never missed an episode of the Rifleman.

I still watch the rifleman series!! Are there any other shows besides the rifleman!! I will definitely purchase the series if they eventually go on the market.

A huge thanks goes out to Muriel Williams who was the first Johnny Crawford Fan Club president living in Van Nuys, California. She typed letters to the fans in the days before copy machines were invented. Kudos goes to Muriel for keeping us in touch with Johnny during his early years as an actor!

That is sad that he left us with that terrible affliction but now he is in Peace. That singer is NOT Johnny. That is Gene Pitney singing, "24 Hours From Tulsa". I saw Gene Pitney in concert with his Caravan Of Stars way back in 1970, at Notre Dame.
