Through the 80's I was not a fan of U2 in fact I knew very little of U2. However in recent years I have become a fan because I heard Bono speak when he is not behind the rock star microphone. I believe he is a man of deep conviction and not only speaks well of the problems he wants to fix, he actually gets in and tries to help implement the solution. Also, I believe he has been an inspiration to many young people through his speeches at various colleges. He is also a role model, I believe he lives his life as he speaks of his life, for a rock star to be married to the same woman for over 30 years is a testament in and of itself. Lastly, as I listen to Bono speak he has actually started me on a renaissance of my own belief in America and the future. God Bless you, Bono.

You know, it's always hilarious to me how people always point out Bono's ego. In his performance and interviews an air of egotism does indeed leak through, but honestly, I don't think it's really fair to rag on Bono about the size of his ego. I doubt there's really a more humble rock star of his caliber. He is the first to make fun of himself and point out the absurdity of his celebrity. How do you think his band has stayed together for 30 years? How do you think his marriage has stayed intact?

Everyone is hating on Bono, it's your opinion which is fine. But why are you guys here? It just seems like a huge waste of time to be investing time in something you hate. Go do something you find worthwhile, you'll enjoy it so much more than finding things wrong with this. As well as if people can receive something positive from this then don't criticize them for it. An amazing human being
It takes humility on his part for those things to happen. Ego destroys relationships. And besides all of that, there's his humanitarian work, which, regardless of whether you agree with the means Bono sees as solutions, you can't honestly discount as him just trying to look good in front of people. Listen to him talk about this stuff. You can tell just by him speaking about it that he has spent a LOT of time learning about all of this stuff and therefore obviously cares about it truly.

I love the double standards we have for people who make an effort to be good. Here he is contributing his finance, time, and effort to help fix an actual problem. Only intelligent people know how great this man is. I have been a fan of u2 and Bono since 1984. Now people slag him off all the time. These people are like 90% of people in this world IGNORANT AND SELFISH. I got tired of defending Bono sometime around 2015. You can't educate stupid. He will always be my musical hero, possibly the only person in this world I totally respect. I have a Masters Degree, from a great British University - so I understand and critique everything he says. These ignorants cite his tax avoidance, etc, when he is probably the one Irish person who has paid more tax than anybody else - EVER. U2 were Ireland's biggest export for 20 years, outselling even Guinness, yet idiotic indigenous Irish cite him as an hypocrite, just because he is wealthy and successful. The reason being....most Irish are IGNORANT and SELFISH. The guy lost his mother at a young age (like myself.) He could have curled up in a ball and given up. No, he is probably the most successful human being of the last 50 years. Dis-respect this man and you're just dis-respecting yourself.
