    This was what I had too. Used it for so long. The software is so responsive and fast. Super instant and you build up muscle memory around using it as a result. The MP02 just isn’t the same (sadly) although still a great phone.

    Have the MP02 which I like, but the battery has been really awful since day one and drains much faster than I expected considering it's only for phone and text. Tenthering works well though.
    Thanks for the video Jose.

    That's because the primary problem with the "real" dumphones like the Light Phone and Punkt is that they use Android, which is slow and battery hungry. Ignoring the resource limitations of these respective companies, if they built their own custom OS for the hardware, we'd have much, much better and responsive phones even with the same specs. From a software design standpoint, if you had a choice, pulling in the massive codebase of Android, when you only need a tiny fraction of the functionality, is just a bad idea.

      Does the light phone run android? I thought it didn’t have google play services which is one of the reasons I was interested in it.

      @@yayabrooklyn The OS is Android-based. They've customized it and I'm pretty sure Google Play isn't made available on it.

      @@yayabrooklyn android but tweaked as hell. You won't any of google services on a light phone tho, maps maybe at best

    I have two MP01 one brown and slrhe second white. I have in there my private number and work number. No smarphone, MP01 is very responsive, good battery, and very good signal and for me me has a very good Italian T9. Věry very satisfied. My daughter wants one too, she hates smartphone and doesn't like to be connected so I bought another one white colour, 59 € in a super sale yesterday. The screen is really probably the best thing, quite visible everywhere.

    Thank you, I was considering this but I live in the US and I guess it won't work here?

    I had one and, although I liked it, the call quality, volume-wise, was so bad that I couldn't really use it outside.

      Maybe You held it wrong :P Quote from manual "When you use your phone, hold it so your hand does not cover the antenna area. If you cover the antenna area, it may affect your network signal."

    How is the battery life of the MP01. Since its OS is not based on Android, I expect it to be 7+ days with low/minimal use. Is that realistic?

    • @JoseBriones
      @JoseBriones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. 5-7 days is realistic. More than that is possible, but it really depends on signal and use.

  • @targetoz5470
    @targetoz5470 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it have hands free speaker? And obviously it won’t work in our 3g+ networks is that right?

    • @JoseBriones
      @JoseBriones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes for speaker. It works on 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE

    So you need to first either get a Time Machine or move to a country with 2G?

  • @ompte196
    @ompte196 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Who says that 2G Will be turned down on 2025 is wrong, in some EU countries 2G Will ne prolonged at least until 2029 -2035, Czech Republic for example is one of these.

    It's soooo tempting, but sms inbox and outbox is garbage and it was even in nokia times. I got this phone for 10eur, yes 10! it's worth exacly that much. If Punkt makes firmware update with group chat, i'm back.
