Dude, just wanted to say you have made my life so much easier by posting this! I used to frack around with the damn respot cells forever; now I'm in and out in under 15 minutes. Really thank you!

Thank you for this, been having some cells not opening fully at work. Can't imagine how hard it was to record and tinker at the same time. I salute you, sir.

Update: Your solution worked! We just regained 2 lanes. Thank you once again!

If only the bowling alley didn’t pay me minimum wage as an AMF mechanic man. I love the job, we had 36 lanes, 12 82-90’s 12 82-70’s and 12 82-30’s. The bowling alley management and overall owner was crummy and paid the people who gave out shoes more than the only 2 mechanics that worked there. It was my brother and I, my brother was the head mechanic and I was an A Mechanic.

honestly. having it in spot position to adjust the stop lever is what youre supposed to do. after that its way easier to run the machine back up and adjust the cells though. Not sure i would advise this

Why are there no plastic doo s on the end of the fingers??

Denny F because that machine well all 34 of them has been run into the ground, eventually once I was allowed to spend they got new rubbers, plastic inserts etc

    Excuse me.
After the first stroke, the No. 5 and No. 6 pins will be displaced. How can I solve this problem?

Pop all of the links off and open the cells, at home position
Assume your table is leav and flagged correctly, spot the machine with no pins in the cups and stop at bottom dead centre,
at this point the cups will be toeing out, adjust the rod connected to the Swan neck and adjust the rod so the roller is 16 though gap between the roller and Swan neck or so roller can be turned by your fingers, but so the is no play or gap between them
Then adjust the small carb link to adjust the 7 pin rsc fingers to sit gently on the bump stops, then adjust the rest of the 1 2 4 7 wire way so the cells are lightly touching the bump stops, at this point as the wire ways are held open, the links will only fit over the ball joints when the rods are the correctly length, too short it won't pop on as wire ways have no movement, and too long you'd have to force the link on and you'll fell ot tension up, then d the 3 5 8, then the 6 9 then the 10 pin, undo the adjudicator or wirewire tracker limit bolts our as no required
Return the table to home, close the cells and adjust the 1/4 set screws so the finger gap is 2 inches table gage
Half close finger and pawl and adjust the respot rod for a 1/8 gap, cam adjust measures tool for lbs, if the spot ŕspot rod arms buses and pins and ball joints are worn this may have to be lower
That's about it, fine tuning on finger gap so all finger hold the pins so bottom of top red ring just touches finger at same point on all pins so you get a nice even thud as all 10 pins hit the deck at the same time, too lose pins will hit hard and wobble, too tight the table will pic them up but won't be able to release them as one pin or more sitting g off of the deck will seize the wire ways shut due to the the 33 olbs of pins sitting on them,

I would say that the 5 and or 6 cells most likely have a bent respot pivot pin, the scissor will start to close, normally when the forst scissor hits the pin it will stop and the remaining power will transfer to the path of least resistance on the other finger, when the pivot pin is bent, or the centre stud on the track is bent, the silver washer and or x washer is bent, respor arm bushes worn, etc, the whole scissor will be stiff so the fist finger fins the pin and the scissor can not dissipate the tension on that finger so it forces the pin to slide across to the other finger, making it fall over or move inwards to the centre trapping the cells shut

Bent wireways catching the tops of the respot cell assemlble, lose ball joints that can flop about and pan head screws sticking up can cause Jams and binds as well, I've literally spent hours before now on one lane 😅

I have a friend who owns a bowling alley. He has had it for a number of years but the machines are not functioning. He has had people dicking around with them that don't know what they are doing and made things worse. He is in real trouble and I would like to help him. I am an auto mechanic and I am confident I would be able to do this job but I don't want to jump in there and mess something up. Is there anyone or anywhere I could go and have someone train me to work on these? He has 8 amf 82-70c machines.???

The machines are easy enough to learn, im uk based most centres are pulling out the 70s and 90s for strings, bowling vision may be able to arrange training, outside of the uk im not able to comment but im sure there are places to learn from

@@simonpinspottertechstiggyg730 thank you for replying. Yeah I just went to this place last night for the first time. An old friend has it and is really losing his ass not being able to be open for business. He is just a school teacher. So it's not like he has a lot of money. It was kinda just a dream of his. He just isn't a mechanical inclined type of person. And is very nice. So people have just been taking advantage of him and no progress being made. He mentioned the string machines. This is an old place in a small town. And he is trying to keep the retro feel. That plus lack of funds would prevent him from getting new machines.

This would have been FAR more useful if didn't shoot it vertically. Movies, computers, TV's and you EYES are horizontal. VERTICAL VIDEO IS A SCOURGE.
