Inositol Triphosphate (IP3) and Calcium Signaling Pathway | Second Messenger System

- Lesson on the Inositol Trisphosphate (IP3) and Calcium Signaling Pathway. IP3, calcium and diacylglycerol (DAG) are important second messengers that are unregulated upon activation of a G protein-coupled receptor. Inositol triphosphate and DAG are cleavage products of phosphatidyl inositol 4,5 bisphosphate (PIP2), which is cleaved by phospholipase C. Increasing levels of IP3 lead to augmented cytosolic calcium levels that further lead to activation of downstream cellular targets.
Hey everyone. In this lesson you will be introduced to the IP3 and calcium signaling pathway. We will also discuss the purpose of the pathway, enzymes involved in the pathway, and how the pathway is regulated.

Yeah he is
After 2 years to lol😅

Who created this magnificent, elegant, yet simple mechanism? The way PIP2 is disassembled into two useful parts is genius! Calcium is stored and is only released with the key (IP3), genius! This is a very controlled chemical pathway needing several keys (DAg, IP3, and Calcium. It must be responsible for very intricate balances in the cell. Thank you for making this elegant pathway simple to understand and accessible to marvel at. Thank you!
nature did 🏞. Sometimes I wonder how a human could kill another one, if they are both such attuned systems where every molecule or ion counts 😣
Unbelievably useful explanation, so well laid out. Thanks
you should have included the activation of G alpha subunit by GPCR which then activates phospholipase C... regardless, the video is excellent.
Read my book for a week and I had a hard time understanding this topic. And I just discovered this video and now I understand hahah thankyou very much! Please make more videos like these
Saved my brain cells, thx
Thank you. You have great videos. Greetings from Colombia
Wow!! It is clear explaination to a complex pathway ...please keep on
WoW! Best explanation I have found on this topic. Thank you!
Your channel is so underrated!
Thank you so much, I watched like 5 different videos on this topic but still didn't get it but I do now
YOU ARE AMAZING. THIS WAS SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND! ALL CAPS CUZ YOU ROCKED IT
Thank you. This was extremely helpful.
thank you so much! Easy and simple explanation.

Thank you for this ! A life saver!
Beautiful
Thank you, my physiology book did a terrible explanation along with a figure that didn't seem to go along with the explanation.
Thank you so much for this
legend ...thank you so much
A wonderful work! Well done and Thank you👍👌
thank you thank you
Very good video, thank you so much.
Great video, just a quick question. Is it not the sarcoplasmic reticulum (rather than endoplasmic) that calcium is released from into the cytosol?
The sacroplasmic reticulum exists only in muscle cells but I believe the video is talking about a typical body cell.
Very helpful!
great simplification!
Saved my day!! Thank you
Very informative
Amazing thank you
Thank you so much ❤
But why is PIP2 no second messenger? It does it work too right?
Great video
understood, thankyou🙂
Thank you for this!! I appreciate it!
Thanks a lot!! it helped so much.

Thank you ☺
I think I may have a metabolic disorder, and my doctor keeps telling my symptoms are psychosomatic, I am trying to do some personal research about non epileptic childhood seizures and how that effected my metabolism. I appreciate the video in helping me better understand the concepts in the papers I am reading.
Sinply the best !
include the calmodulin and myosin light chain kinase

Hello I have a question, what would cause this pathway to be terminated or stopped? Thank you.
This is perfect, thank you!!!
