    I watch Dave Canturbury, Corporals Corner, Grey Bearded Green Beret, Coal Cracker Bushcraft, Junkyard Fox and Survival Lily to name a few. Each are good in their own way. As a Former Marine myself I have graduated Bridgeport Mountain Warfare Survival Training, so not a newbie when it comes to bush craft and survival. I have not found a better channel than this one.
    Like I said the aforementioned are good in their own ways, but this channel is the best overall in a lot of ways. Always informative, practical, entertaining, motivating, and easy to watch. If and when the apocalypse takes place, Andrew will be one of the last men standing no doubt.

    I ate mice, rats, opossum, rabbit, lizards, snakes, turtle, maggots, worms, bugs & all sorts of other stuff when I was in the service but that was more than 35 years ago now. I have to give it to you sir, I wouldn't have eaten that mouse unless I absolutely had to but you did it for OUR education! You are definitely hard core in my book. Thank you for sharing and thank you for your service to this great country.

      @@GrecoLefteris Yes I have. However in my day it was C-rats and if you've ever had some of those you would yearn for a rat or opossum ;). All the things I ate was because I was an instructor in the survival school and we had to do this with EVERY class that went through. Put a little tobasco on the mice and they ain't half bad.

    Cool vid, I’m thankful for the people who not only make a “survival kit” ‘ahem’ (the stupid ones who make foolish choices which can lead people to harm). Your effort, the time spent, the process of continually learning and improving are truly appreciated. I’ve studied survival for quite a while, and those who pretend to have it together, never used the kit, never actually studied anything but TH-cam and can lead to loss of life leads me to just block people indiscriminately. Thanks for your effort and actually SHOWING use of kit.

  • @Eidolon1andOnly
    @Eidolon1andOnly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Nice little kit. I would recommend putting a leader on at least 2 of the fishing hooks because it can be difficult to thread the eye of a fish hook when shivering. Same logic as to why you prelpad the sewing needles. I'd also put those candles in an appropriately sized ziploc bag so in case they melt, the wax won't get all over the rest of the gear. Also it wouldn't hurt to add a few paper coffee filters to help strain sone much out of water, or as a fire starter. Also some iodine tablets wouldn't hurt either.

The Fire Plow… I’ve never done one, I understand the principle…but dang, maybe that’ll be my summer fire training! Perhaps a video? Just throwing it out there! Heat and friction for the win in defeating flex cuffs! I like the deadfall set up too, good training! Micro cordage is something that’s been coming up lately, I keep a hank of it in my Wazoo belt for a rainy day, you never know when you might need some! You forgot the most important culinary item for the well-done mouse… a mini bottle of Tabasco… it makes everything taste better! Lol…

    You combined multiple technique that most instructors would have dragged out over 4 or 5 videos. Much appreciated!
    As a nurse I would add to be careful breathing around mouse droppings. Urine will be there as well and Hantavirus can be contracted from deer mice. Worse in enclosed areas like sheds but potential still there.
    First survival class I took in ‘93 we had to eat a grasshopper the first day then “Rat on a Ritz” later that week. Eliminated many participants.
    Also, I tried to join the Marines but they wouldn’t let me. Me head wouldn’t fit in the jar.

    Highly motivating! There are plenty of rats out there, for sure. Too many people overlook this valuable food source. I killed 14 desert rats in 2 nights using a Buck knife and a Baby Ruth candy bar for bait. But that was just pest control and boredom. I didn't eat them! I could have though if I had needed to. I got tired of them rats stealing my food and crawling around the shelter all night, so something had to be done.

Showing folks new to this stuff (especially me) that it is doable. Maybe in a similar video in the future you could provide tips on what to look for to determine if an animal is fit to eat before it is cooked. Friction hardened spear tip was handy as well as how to mount the nail in the staff. Excellent block of instruction. Bravo Zulu.

    Awesome video! I did this years ago,, with a figure 4. Field mice really do taste, just like chicken! I was laughing my ass off, when you said, "tastes like chicken"

    Excellent demo of skills at hand! Knowledge on another level for sure. I will find time to practice some of these skills soon. Your ability to add new and pertinent content on this channel is truly AMAZING. Thanks for sharing lunch!
