I live in Middle Tennessee now but my roots are in Eastern Kentucky. This family reminds me of my mom's family. Her parents had 12 children and they all had to help work to raise food for the family and to share with less fortunate family and neighbors. They were all raised in the Old Regular Baptist church. Grandpa was a deacon and "Called" or "Lined Out" the songs Since he was the only one with a song book he lead the singing by first saying a line then the congregation would sing it. So many great memories on so many subjects! Thanks for sharing! God bless you!

I absolutely love the interviews you do with the older generation. This knowledge will need to be used again one day and unfortunately it is dying out with this generation. We live in such a modern world that most people don't know how to grow food and live a simple life. This information is vital and thankfully you've provided a (hopefully) life-long time capsule for it.

I thoroughly enjoy these videos. My two grans were virtually the same age, but as different as could be. My paternal gran spent her days inside an air conditioned house and watched a lot of television. My maternal gran always wore an apron, did not have air conditioning, nor a tv that worked well. She did have a water cooler, but in east Texas, was not very effective. She would be up before sunrise working her vegetable garden and/or flower garden. Neither one ever drove. My maternal gran constantly made yeast rolls for the sick and had a network of friends and family that wouldd deliver if the distance was too far to walk. What i wouldn't give to be able to sit on the couch and listen to their stories.

I loved this so much. I admit I cried because I miss my family so much. Thank you for sharing. The stories remind me of the ones my dad would tell. They cured their hams in the attic which was a bedroom for the kids. They would go to bed with hams hanging above them. There were 3-4 boys to one bed and one night a ham came loose from the rafters and landed on my uncle who thought my dad punched him so he laid into him and gave him a big black eye! They would just laugh telling that story. They said they could see the sky through the roof and would wake up with snow on their beds. It was a hard life in the mountains, they worked so very hard.

What wonderful stories they told. Its obvious that they were and still are a very close knit family. They reminded me of how us brothers and sisters are when we're all together... looking at their pictures. My Mama passed 3 yrs ago...and we went for Daddy's 84th Birthday celebration a couple months back we took pictures with all of us around my Dad. 11 of us are left..one brother has passed on. Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful people and their stories, with us, Tipper. A strong reminder of how precious family is. Thank you again.

You know, what would be interesting is a segment on quilts. MyGranny Edith, my aunts and mom would make and give us quilts ….. they took great pride in the design, and the amount of work they poured into making something unique for each child or grandchild is really amazing. It is such an art.
Thanks again for this series …it really brings back fond memories of chicken and dumplings with broad beans and cornbread. …back in the early 70’s

The only thing I didn't love about this was the sentence 'the last installment'. Then delighted when you said you'll likely return. What a wonderful family. Please let them know how much we enjoyed hearing all they had to share! When the subject of pig slaughter came up, I tuned in closely; I worked summers during college at our local slaughterhouse (they always called it 'packing plant', a bit of a euphemism). I worked in the hog kill, in the by-product areas, filling buckets with chitterlings, packing barrels of fetal pigs (for schools, etc.) and on and on and on. There is no job I ever had which provided a better an education than I received those hard summers. Y'all live close to the land, close to your food source. You understand. THANK YOU TO THIS BEAUTIFUL FAMILY and y'all did such a nice interview, so natural. 🙌🏼 💞 P.s. Look forward to another interview or visit with this family.

When you said this was the last one, I said, "Awww...no." I really like their family! They genuinely like each other. You kinda have to love your family, but you may not always like them. They like each other after all these years. They had (in episode 1 and 2) talked about what all their father did and when they said he was born crippled I was shocked. He didn't let it stop him one bit. Good Mom and Dad who raised good, Godly children. Can't ask for more than that!

Sounds like exactly how I grew up, very poor and worked from sun up to sun down and many times after dark by lamp light. We didn't have any problems sleeping because we were always so tired.

Tipper, I appreciate that you were able to bring this family to the forefront. Katie, thank you for your input. I hope you are able to talk to them again! I think they enjoyed telling the history of their proud family. ❤️🇨🇦🙏
