Day One is about how people deal with the arrival of the monsters....not how the monsters were born 😂

One thing I've learned from disaster movies... never follow the crowd.
Day after tomorrow... the crowd gets frozen to death.

The M. Night Shyamalyan movie, The Happening, is a master class in Never Ever follow the crowd.
And anyway, a smaller group can think and decide better than a larger group. Fewer people = less BS
And even in this one, shut tf up. One so you can hear, and two just in case it's an alien invasion and they're allergic to sound
That's just a basic rule. Most experienced protesters or people who've lived under oppression give this advice. If you are being chased by anyone or anything and you are in a group, its most likely that if you split up whoever is chasing you will probably ignore you because one is a waste of time but 10 is an oportunity. Although I dont think it applies to literal animals because they just chase whatever's closest

@mriddley I've seen lots of dogs that can be trained to be silent, and since their so dependent, you can rely on them to maintain certain behaviours. A cat, however... unpredictable.

i’m a slow burn movie typa guy sometime and i found this was really engaging for me. just the way the story progressed had me hooked. great casting

I just saw it on Saturday!!! It wasn’t a bad movie, I enjoyed it. Joseph Quinn and lupita Nyong’o and the cat are the highlight for me. The problem is that I still haven’t know why or how the monsters arrive on earth.

did you not see them entering the atmosphere? that's how they arrived. Who cares why they arrived, they are there, and its all survival mode.
I've just assumed they are like the intergalactic equivalent to a pest/infestation. The chunks of rock/debris are what carried them across space - similar to how certain insects here require leaves or flowers to fly away to a new location- and that they are simply from an environment that is insanely dangerous/hellish. What happened to their home planet? That' I can't quite pin down. Would hate to be stuck on their home planet though. They also seem to just kill whatever triggers their primary sense (hearing), and we know of several species right here on our own planet that will kill despite not being hungry or threatened (cats, penguins, dolphins, orcas, chimpanzees). Hell, domestic cats that are allowed outside kill so much it's altering entire ecosystems. So, this is the holy-shit-it's-from-space equivalent haha.
The back story is that they evolved from a lightless planet that eventually exploded.
My theory is that the sound makes them go insane. Hence, 3:59 they attack everything they detect
According to John Krasinski, the director of the movies, the creatures originated on a lightless planet in a faraway galaxy, a hell world with harsher conditions and higher gravity than Earth. At some point, the creatures' planet was destroyed for unknown reasons, but due to their durable nature and their indestructible armor, they survived on asteroid fragments, which eventually arrived on Earth in a meteor shower and fall into several cities such as Millbrook, Mexico, New York and Shanghai.
I give credit to Sarnoski for trying a different tone. Sequels/Prequels always fall into the danger of repeating the same exact beats over and over and I'm glad he took some risks by focusing on issues of mortality over action/horror. But I get it...when you subvert expectations some people will be disappointed.
why were people expecting a monster movie, none of the other Quiet Place movies were?
They've all been about people adapting and surviving or at least trying to survive.
Maybe because the trailer focused heavily on the monster aspect
Ngl for me the issue is just there wasn’t enough tension built like by far one of the biggest misses is not having the deaf girl anymore since scenes with her were always crazy tense (same with the baby and in the first when the mum was pregnant)
Loved the approach this movie took. It isn't your stereotypical prequel. I'm glad that they leaned into the emotional aspects of this disaster as well as focused on a unique companionship. Not everyone will appreciate it, but I honestly think that this is one of Lupita's best roles.
Did anyone peep that the bald head black dude was also the dude from quiet place 2..that boat mustve been taking them to the island they were on in part 2

He literally says in the 2nd movie that the national guard took them from New York and that only two boats made it to the island

Appreciate yall keeping it real by saying you didn't enjoy it the way you wanted to but that doesn't mean it sucked, it just means you didn't get to see what you wanted to see. More people out there reviewing shit could stand to learn that distinction.
Im with Drew. The Alien scenes were so epic. I didnt really mind the music or acting. Especially the first part of the movie. Without spoiling anything, the CGI is PERFECTION !!!!!

I think that the mystery of the alien invasion should remain a part of the franchise.
Besides, Humans can't communicate with the Aliens since sound equals death, so how would humans even find out....and what difference would it make?
I loved this movie. In my opinion, a successful franchise or cinematic universe needs other stories to remain fresh. I wish the Star Wars movies would move beyond Skywalker and Palpatine.
This movie respected its audience. We only know what the characters discover. No exhibition dump, no character that conveniently knows everything needed.

Ending kinda meh
I think if they do a part 4. It should be from the military's perspective next. That would be how I would evolve the story from a family... to strangers on the street... to the military response, that could give us some insight into where they came from and further develop the ending of part two where they finally find a way to fight back.
A Quiet Place 3 has been green lit already, that's the running title for now.
In an alternate universe there is a movie called Loud Place and the characters need to scream incessantly to survive.

Just got back from seeing the movie. It was good. Was it better than the other 2 I’m not sure yet. I never thought a cat would have me shook like that 😂. Lupita and homie from Stranger Things did great. We need the sequel to the last movie asap!
6.5 / 10 for me. Could've been so much more than what it was. Also it should've been 2 hours
Seeing an alien hive was the most interesting part to me. I notice that weve never really seen the aliens eating people, (at least not in part 2 or day one, i haven't seen part one in a while) so it really makes me wonder why the aliens do ehat they do. I have a theory the aliens might have been sent by an inteligent species as a sort of weapon to prepare earth for invasion by them, kind of like in three body problem with the sophons.

It wasn't a bad movie but I'd be lying if I say It wasn't a let down cause I was expecting a apocalyptic sci-fi thriller and not another character oriented story like we c'mon we already have two movies about that 😭

@DarkspiderDavid duh characters are important, but action and world building is also important in a movie like this. There's already two movies previously that covers personal stories and they are great but it's time to expand the universe a bit more. Tell us a bit more about aliens. They don't have to show us their planets and shit but show us how the military tried to fight back but was overwhelmed. Show us the hierarchy of these aliens. Show us how they breed and reproduce. If they just keep solely focusing on characters, then it's gonna feel like the same movie over and over again.

First place I wanted to see, after seeing it. Fun but flawed, keep expectations low and you can have a fun romp
I just got back from watching it. It was so good. I was terrified lol. Joseph and Lupita were absolutely phenomenal!
I was with Joe on this one, it was a good movie, but I wanted a little more on Djimon's character and how they set up the island from the 2nd movie...and I wanted not necessarily where the aliens came from and why but more on when did we see them coming (like NASA etc saw nothing headed to earth?). But again, it was a good movie, just not what I wanted.
it wasnt that bad but sad to say its my least favorite of the 3. it had some pretty intense scenes though that i havent seen from the first 2
I didn’t love it as much as Part 1 or 2 but as a survival thriller with aliens, I really enjoyed my time. The characters were enjoyable and Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn were excellent together. Great review
i give the movie 9/10. the cat was a great actor/actress. the movie was great at the theater i went to that had dolby with the rumble seats during the action scenes.

The movement of the creatures is terrifying! We saw it from the shadows in the first two movies, but this movie we saw them in broad daylight!
Honestly, I thought it was boring, but still entertaining enough. The acting was great. This looks clearly to be a setup movie to understand the creatures more. There's clearly a hierarchy of alien and a reason why they came to Earth. I foresee the next set of movies will be all about understanding the aliens and eliminating them. Quinn probably will be the main character. He may have been one of the first people to see a hive nest.

Well it’s already been stated (not in the movie) that the alien’s planet exploded and the creatures been riding on the remains (asteroids) of the planet for billions of light years until they hit earth in the form of asteroids (the worse luck ever 😅)
What I really enjoyed about the movie was that even though it’s a prequel, we got so much information about the monsters. The fact that they can’t swim, and what were those pods they were inhaling?? Some Aliens type junt.
This movie had way more emotional moments than the previous two films. Not hating on the previous movies but this one raised the feels with the Lupita’s character and her cat. I didn’t tear up during the first two, but damn this one got to me with what was going on with her character. A very solid movie that brought the tension along with the tears.

Movie was fine...jump scares in a "Quiet place" movie tho..not a good choice the past 2 never needed that. Also wanted Day One to be the people FIGURING it out that they need to be quiet. Not we cut to black screen and wake up and all of sudden we know to be quiet....cop out if you ask me .
