The steel guitar (no pedals back then) player is undoubtedly Charles Mitchell who led a band that recorded with Jimmy Davis. Most famously Mitchell is co-writer with Davis of the classic song "You Are My Sunshine", which may or may not be the case. There's allegations the song was bought from its true composer.
