As someone who is addicted to Piercings i was rather excited to see this on my feed
ROLY HELLO I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
HI ROLY OMG I LOVE YOUR VIDEOSSS
Yeah I can’t wait until I turn 14 so I can get a middle nose and right nostril piercing lol
ROLY????
dude i was just watching a vid of irs
The Monroe piercing was definitely more popular in the early 2000s. Now in the 2010s people are more into septum and medusa piercings.
Seren Fee its pretty sad tbh, i don't wear my septum piercing out anymore because everyone has it
Seren Fee very true. I have both.
Man, I've been rocking a bridge piercing since 2012 and I have yet to even meet anyone that has one. My fiance had his done a long time ago and kept it for only a couple of months. WE NEED MORE BRIDGE PIERCINGS!!
Ichthys look up jayyvon Monroe he has one
I've seen a couple of people with both ones, but I think it also depends where you're from. Both piercings are really popular at the moment. :)
So your telling me that they had DOUBLE NOSE PIERCINGS in the 40/50s but they only had pierced ears 60/70s ?
What I'm saying 🤔
I think it meant when they became trendy. With guns being available everywhere in malls at the time it was easier for them to to pierce their ears so it became a major wave of ear piercings
The world doesn't revolve around America. Different countries have different cultures.
@@xoxocessa what I was just gonna say, but it would be great if they had dicided them into different catigories of culture and region cuz this was a mess
they’ve always been popular in South East Asian countries
Anyone who calls clip ons "painless" has clearly never worn clip ons.
I wore one on Halloween to dress up as a goth chick... that damn thing left a scar!!
Aden !
Right!? Infections are less painful
What kind of clip ons have you been wearing? I used to wear my grandma's and were never uncomfortable. Maybe you should take them to a jeweller to have them modify the pressure.
FACTS
If I even mention the word “piercing” to my mom she’ll scream
“YoUlL gEt An InFeCtIon”
Not if you get it done properly, by a professional, and look after it!
That’s what I say but she doesn’t listen
@@ronnie7322 My mum is the same. I'm 32 now and she still freaks out whenever I get a piercing. Last time she cried "When are you going to grow up??"
Never, apparently. 😂
Same for me but for tattoos
My mom is 43now and yeah she doesn't like piercings and many tattoos but i still have them. I don't think she mind them so much . Only thing i hate about people is that they always ask me "what would you do when u will be old" like omgg im so triggered about that q.
HIGHLY doubt people had nose piercings in the '40s
Maybe not in America but in places like Africa and India nose piercings were most certainly a thing and very very popular
Shawna Mathews my grandma had
@@shybabi8985 in india they were a thing since forever not at 1940😂
But you never know
Pfft, my friend is 10 and has a lip piercing and a nose piercingand a couple of ear piercings.
No, there's definitely a trend missing here that we did between 80's to early 90's, which was having just 1 piercing on only 1 of your ears then getting like 7 piercings all the way up your other ear = the asymmetric lobes !
Oh No right??? That was probably the biggest trend out of all of them, and it being my era I'm disappointed it wasn't on here
Oh No my aunt has those peircings they look really good 👍
i really want that piercing but my body says no 😅
1:44 that girls beautiful! she could pull off almost any piercing!
Yasss
lmao nice one
True
Agree
yeah
In India there is history of piercing of thousands of years. Even men used to pierce their ears.
Yass... I guess they just forgot about Asia..😅
Haha yeah
I was shocked to discover that piercing was considered illegal in certain parts of the world when it’s a part of our tradition.
Sorry for the dead late reply 😅
@@insanelyawesam1420 piercings are lovely and i want a bunch like nose
This can be a whole separate vedio

"Pain free"
HA!
Those clamps hurt worse than walking around in heels with wooden bases all day.
2030: Eyeball piercing
Ahhh pls but did you ever see the eye tattoos they are so cool but so scary
It's actually a thing now but it's more like inserting jewelry in your eyeball
@@potatodirectioner5848 I will never understand why ppl want that. But hello fellow directioner
@@sophiegallagher9445 hey bestie
@@potatodirectioner5848 outof curiosity who's lane are you in
There is absolutely no way nose piercings and septum piercings were excepted in the 40's and 50's, especially before ear piercings. My grandmother and great Aunts and Uncles were all born and raised in that time period and they hate my septum piercing
Tatum Dean they're of eastern culture not western...so maybe that's why or simply personal preference
Tatum Dean Oh wait here's a though: not everything revolves around western cultures. African and middle eastern people have been doing a great deal of things a lot longer than we have. We don't invent a new 'trendy' thing, we often steal from other cultures and claim that we invented it ourselves.
babyoctopus why are you so self loathing... White people have their own culture too just like any other race.
Zayna Dai I said often we steal. We have some culture but stuff like body piercings and tattoos didn't originate from us.
I wasn't saying that everything revolved around Western culture or that we take credit for everything African, Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures have been doing for years. I know that these cultures have been doing piercings and tattoos for years, however this video is in no way celebrating those cultures and their 100 years of history. Every single actress in this video in clearly dressed in Western attire, with Western styled hair and makeup. None of them are styled in the traditional, historical, or modern attire of the African, Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures you are talking about. Therefore, this video is talking about just Western cultures and I know for a fact that in Western culture, most of these piercings are still frowned upon to this day.
did you have "no piercings at all" strict parents or "only allowed ear lobe piercings to be lady like and any other piercing is forbidden" strict parents?
I have 2 those lady like piercings.. Then my mother asked me if I want a nose piercing!! So I told her yes but I also want 3 more in my ears.. Atlast she had to give me the permission.. 😃
@@i_m_mini1836 luckyyy. My mum wouldn't mind me having another ear piercing but my dad would utterly forbid it.
Whilst I would like a septum 3 other ear piercings and a lip ring 🗿
Same my mom doesn't want me to get another piercing on my LOBE like bruh (that'll make it my 2nd)
i got those parents. i'm on my third lobe left, second right. 🤣 i'm 13 and did them all myself needles and all the sterilising equipment
My parents are not strict but if I ever gotten any facial piercings, my mom would freak out
idk if its just me but whenever i see someone wearing huge heavy earrings with the piercing close to the edge of the ear i have the irrational fear that its gonna tear through any moment
omg same

The 1990s girl with the lip piercing was literally so pretty.
Yeah!
1940s piercing was only popular among dancers and the boheme.
Imagine e.g. seeing a regular person shopping in 1940s supermarket with a nose ring 😂
Margarita M. in india you would
What about stretched ears? Pretty sure that's a big one you missed...
dull-shimmers stretched ears aren't a piercing in themselves, they class as a body modification.
That would make sense if they didn't also include clip-on earrings. Piercings are body modifications. As are many other things, of course, but stretched ears fall into both categories.
dull-shimmers unless they just randomly found a model with stretched ears, im not sure they can depict that in this video.
Vaffanculo - there is in fact a model with stretched ears in this video, but that would fall under the body modifications category, not piercings
wow im high then
1:29 SHES SO PRETTY!!!
The model at 1:30 has the cutest face! Her piercings and hair complement her face
Where is the one earring trend from the 80s? Like Cyndi Lauper and Madonna
Nerdy_3000
Pretty sure Bowie started that trend
Nerdy_3000 is ur picture mirai kuriyama from beyond boundaries as a dude or something? o.o
Kat Attack Is Not On Fire yes, lmao
Nerdy_3000 i was wondering that as well
And Billie idol lol
Wow I dont agree with the last one, think it should be ear piercings and septums for example
Janne totally agree!
Janne yeah everyone is getting their helix pierced rn
Yes! I haven't seen someone with a monroe in almost 10 years and surface piercings were more common in 2009ish, but so many people have fancy septum clickers (me included lol)
what I see the most are fake piercings, in ear, septum or even mouth.
Janne I agree with that..I think they were popular early to mid 2000s. Another better example might be the industrial which was really popular a few years ago, inner conch, helix or any upper ear piercings.

"Pain-free" giant clip-on earrings? HA, no.
They hurt more than my current earrings after healing lol
Back then they were pain free I have some more vintage ones (not from then but not new at all) and the were painless . Now I can’t wear them because I JUST got my ears pierced
Sakura Cat I have quite a few from back then and they were never pain free.

Sakura Cat okay
nose piercings didn't get popular for a much longer time in western countries,,, and they've been popular for much longer is places like asia more specifically india...
no pe to be fair this isn’t region specific.. but I get what you mean, Asia has had them for hundreds of years.
Ya. My indian friend's mum had abt 4 nose jewellery (not all at the same time) and 3 ear piercings
I see what you did there
no pe and Pakistan!
Most of the women in Bangladesh do. It 😂
When they described tongue rings/piercings with “Despite the pain” I was so confused cuz I didn’t feel any pain when I got mine done (which was literally last week) and others I’ve asked said it didn’t hurt at all. The tongue is 1 of the most used muscles and easily relatively quickly so it doesn’t hurt, if anything you’ll feel a pinch
Clip ons hurt though
Girl Q nah
Lilith B you got an ugly headass as your profile pic 😧😧

same, at least a quarter of the girls I see in class have one, I have 2 myself
That depends on the region. All the white girls in my university have it LOL
Pensé lo mismo.
This could have been way more in depth. Which country is it talking about? What about stretched ears? septum piercings skyrocketed 3 years ago you can't ignore that.
The Mechromancer stretched ears classify as a body modification.

What about stretched ears and the industrial bar ?
I remember my piercing obsession started in the mid 90s when I turned 12. i got my nose, both eyebrows, belly button, tongue and monroe pierced all between age 12-16. I still have all of them plus some in more "private areas" lol..I started getting dermals a few years ago but those just rejected on me. I love my piercings and since I've had most of them for about 20 years they pretty much are like a part of me.
My piercing addition started in April 2014 when I got my 1st ear piercing done at the mall. Now I have 5 holes in both ears plus a right nostril piercing.
the girl with the lip piercing is beautiful as hell
Eyebrow piercings were a 90s thing.Of course people got them in the 2000s, but it definitely started getting popular in the 90s.
I think 2010 should have been credited for more industrial piercings and gauges
"pain free earrings" ... clip ons hurt way more than actual ones, no matter how "soft" they advertise them to be. lol.
i don't think this is very accurate lmao
kenadi Same
Especially the nose piercings from the 20s and 50s 🤔
Its more accurate than the tattoo video they made. That one is straight up garbage.
1:31 she looks too good with a lip piercing. Idk what it is, she just looks really cool
megan biddle It’s a vertical labret piercing! They are awesome
I'm assuming this is supposed to be based on American fashion since Allure is an American company but I have never heard of any sort of nose piercings (single, double, or septum) being popular in the 40's. Also Monroe piercings were definitely really only popular in the 2000's.
didn't expect to see dermal anchors here!
have three of those myself 😁
illmakeuhowell oh hey! I love your videos lol
illmakeuhowell can i maybe ask how long they took to heal? and dont they feel weird being under your skin ? I am so curious haha
they healed in 1-2 weeks. i have them above the collarbones and you can't feel them because the skin is very thin. but that also means it's very easy to literally rip them out accidentally 💀
illmakeuhowell ohh so they heal really fast. A friend of me accidently ripped Hers out , it Sounds pain full hahaha thanks for answering tho
illmakeuhowell four below my collarbone
I don't think I've ever seen the "Monroe" piercing look good on anyone, ever
hopelovestyler I've had one for years and get nothing but compliments on it
Amy Winehouse! xx
I have a double monroe//angel bites and I also get nothing but compliments. I've had them since I was 15 and I'm going on 24!
I get compliments on mine all the time.🤷🏻♀️ And I have my nose pierced on the other side, everyone loves it.😂
I agree.
My favorite piercing for a girl is the standard ear piercing & that 2000 Bellybutton Piercing.
For the bellybutton piercing, I totally agree the bellybutton goes very well with skinny jeans & a crop top.
Get it done yourself
Ive had a navel piercing for 15 years. I got it in high school and never got rid of it. I probably never will tbh because im just so used to it. I'll be one of those 80 year olds with piercings
Quixotic I had mine done about 16 year's ago and had no choice but to lose it due to pregnancy. Closed up after I had to take it out my last trimester.
Emma Madison there are belly button rings specially for pregnancy. theyre super flexible and 22mm long so you have plenty of room to grow ;)
Britney really started the belly button piercing trend. Such a legend.
The girl with the lip ring really pulls it off! I wish I could do that!
All kinds of piercings were popular in 2000s
I seriously thought that the first girl was Liza Koshy.
Cittix` she looks nothing like Liza 😂
Bro she does look similar to Liza
Me too! 😂
This amazing timeline on piercings really shocked me.
1:31 Oh my goosh!!She is cute♥
Nose piercings in the 40s? In what place?
The Fandom Girl India.
The Fandom Girl South asian countries and middle eastern countries. In south asian countries septum is a part of a brides jewellery.
Flying Cats indians have been doing it way before the 40's.
The Fandom Girl septum piercings are old af
The Fandom Girl they really should specify what country/region these trends take place
Personally i feel like stretched ears and philtrum/“medusa” piercings would be a better fit for the 2010s tbh. Septum too, but i know they were probably trying not to repeat too much
Wow, I never thought about getting a piercing by my collarbone
Uh... no, try again.

During my emo phase in middle school I wanted a lip piercing so bad but now I think they're just incredibly tacky lol no offense to anyone with them tho
No offense taken.
same here! the only piercing idea that i really stuck with was getting my septum pierced, and i actually got it a few months back.
I want one, but I'm afraid it will rub against my teeth and damage them.
cRinGe LiFe I used to have a small ball and the back piece was constantly rubbing with my teeth, now I have a ring and it hardly ever touches my teeth and it is way more comfortable for kissing.

Lmao same, I wanted spiderbite piercings but now I just have a septum :))

Way off no nose piercings or septum in the 40's and 50's, in some select period films fake ones yes but no average western or European women was wearing those I'm a vintage buyer and history enthusiast in style and beauty from 1970's and before this is so far off

1:22 OH MY GOD I love her plugs and her style so much
Nowadays the trend is to have many earrings and different types of piercings on the ears, and also nose and septum piercings.
um have you noticed the shocking amount of snakebites due to the new age Emos? you need to be more specific with your piercing names because not all "lip piercings" were popular in the 90s it's called the labret the one shown in the video is a vertical labret but there are MANY other lip such as snakes, spider, viper, cyber, shark, angel, canine there may have been one named after a Dino like Trex I think, Medusa, side labret, Monroe, lowbret, panda kiss, outer corners and so so so many more
1:16 i personally love my tongue piercing haha
Doesn't it hurt or being annoying 'cause' I really want to have one but l am afraid
That lip piercing is beautiful
Fun fact: Earings dated back to the Indus-Valley Civilisation.
i have a question- why would they try to emulate real ear piercings if they were taboo?
i think the taboo is mostly on piercing your body not on the erring itself
chill

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I have no knowledge on this. Did septum piercings/jewelry really originate in the 40's? I find it hard to believe.
My mother literally forces me to get piercings. After a while, they don't hurt a lot. Still loved the vid!
2019:Nose studs,cartilage,streched ears
Clip-ons, they were more painful than actual piercings 💀
I'm totally a 2000s teen lol. I got my eyebrow pierced when I was 15 (2003) and my bellybutton pierced when I was 16 (2004). My sister is 6 years older than me making her a 90s teen and she had her tongue, lip, and nipples pierced. This video was dead on.
“Thanks to piercing guns” 😂😂😂😂
Piercing guns are the worst. No piercing should be done with a gun. Ever.
Obsessed with piercings I have about 19 now
Different kinds of ear piercings get popular nowadays. Even tragus, helix, conch... people sometimes go to the specialized salons that can custom ear piercings for definite person which I think is cool. I'd say these types of piercings, navel and septum are the most popular rather than anchor dermals
Agh the 90's was crooked I'm crying
I love how they act like they just got pierced, darling if that was the case there would be blood and swelling all over.
Lisa Mackie if you get a piercing and there is "blood and swelling all over" you sure as hell did not get that piercing done right.
Yeah, for the most part getting a piercing should not cause immediate swelling and bleeding. The only ones I've seen bleed and swell up pretty quick are tongue piercings, but its probably because its a deep piercing on a thick, fleshy part of your body. And especially if you've gotten a few piercings before, you won't 'bleed and swell all over'. If you are, than that piercer needs to be fired.
What... My nose and two cartilage piercings both bled quite a bit, although my bellybutton only bled a little. Bleeding and redness is completely normal.
Lisa Mackie You are correct
Vaffanculo Not everyone doesn't bleed. Sometimes people bleed more becuase they hold their breath or many other reasons. Depends on the person. Not always becuase it was pierced wrong. In fact I've bled a little bit on every piercing ive gotten, which is my nose, belly button, and industrial. After all you are shoving a sharp object through your skin and sometimes people hit a vein when they pierce their ears.
I really want one of the piercings that looks like a beauty mark
Nose and septum piercings in the 1940’s????????????
I’m so done with you.
