  • Today at camp we are going to be cooking Sourdough bread over hot coals. I'm not going to be using charcoal briquettes that you buy. Today I'm going to be using firewood. I’m going to give you some tips on how to pick out the best Dutch oven for you needs, how to dig the right size hole to cook in, how to choose the right method of cooking with (charcoal vs firewood) and how to get started. I love to bake fresh bread and I taught myself how to cook it in a Dutch oven so that we can have fresh bread wherever we go. It can be intimidating to learn to cook over a fire but it is so worth and its an invaluable skill to have. Not only can you cook in a Dutch oven at camp, but if your power goes out then you can still cook bread. Dutch oven cooking is the way our ancestors cooked and you can cook anything in a Dutch oven that you can cook in a regular oven. It just takes a bit of time and practice to learn how to do it.

This is some next level dutch oven skill. I've served some embarrassing biscuits when camping 😐 thanks for your encouraging words on practice 😊

Awesome video! I didn't think it'd take 2 days to make sourdough bread! How much of that leaven did you use? Thanks again!

Try eating your local honey for some relief for allergies 😢

I eat our local honey, and harvest local stinging nettles to make a tincture to take and I take bee pollen too and this as as good as it has gotten for me…. Which is a huge difference than what they use to be.
