heyyyyy lovelies, in this video I will be using the exact same methods as seen in my last washi tape video to see how well we can disguise the clear PET washi tape in resin. Will it work the same way it did with the paper washi tape? Join me to find out.

I think part of it is the poly resin isnt quite as glossy to start so the edges show more 🤷♀️
I forgot to say… Like I said in the chat, maybe it worked better with the paper tape the other day because the other is porous and the plastic is not? Just a thought.
This absolutely could be the reason I have no doubt about it xxxxx thanks my lovely xxx
@@ClairesCraftyCorner 😁 Ordered those pendant molds and I’m going to try it for my channel. Thanks for the ideas. ❤️
Thank you for trying to get to the bottom of this mystery for us all Claire!! Even with the PET tape results, unless you're looking for the fish scale, you would just assume the shimmer was part of the tape. Great experimenting. ☺️
Claire, I am SO PROUD of you for using a PPE. A respirator is something I can not get through to people enough…..I am a Masters RN or Nurse Practitioner as we say here and ER/Trauma is my specialty. I don’t have enough digits to tell you how many times we get a patient who presents with pulmonary issues usually due to chemical exposure. Lungs are a tricky organ and we do need them for life so thank you for sharing that and I hope you do in every vid as I am a new Sub so bless your heart for making that clear to people. The only thing I would like to add that I feel you missed, especially using these chemicals if the REALLY important part of our daily life that is very close to breathing insofar as priority goes and that is your EYES…..they are a mucous membrane and it is SOOOO equally important to protect them as well. Unlike the lungs which can, in most cases, come back from chemical exposure…..eyes do not. Even a teeny tiny “splash” or “flick of the cocktail stick” goes into your eye…..that is the scariest thing to think of as the body is an amazing self healing thing for most “accidents” however we need to be smart about it soooo, IF I can get even one person to think hard and even just grab a cheap pair of clear lenses to wear while crafting with chemicals, that would be a WIN!!! Better safe than sorry and you can get some really cute clear lenses without a prescription, on Amazon and if you do NEED glasses to see, saver your old pair to use just for crafting? OR, if your optometrist will put in a set of your prescription lenses into an old frame for you for a less expensive option, ask if they can be made in GLASS and the reason for that is that if you DO get a wee “splash” GLASS can be cleaned far easier or even wait for the resin to cure and you can usually “flick” it off with a finger nail without any scratch if the lenses are glass…..can’t do that with plastic……
Just a share and a cautionary tale as eyes are a MUST just as breathing is!!!❤ MUCH love to you and keep doing what you do! You make us all smile just watching and listening to you. You are a doll and I LOVE that you test and try everything to strive for perfection. You’re the best!❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤. Great experiments….but that’s last one with the green botanicals were spot on perfection Not bad for a 99.9%. Love it !!!!!
❤ Claire, thank you for showing us how to eliminate most of the lines from washi tape. ❤
My suggestion would be 2 different things, first I think you should dip the clear sticker in your resin before adding it to the pendant then rub it down and top coat #2 I think it will work better with a 2 part resin. But I was so excited to see this one!! I have so much washi tape and idk what to do with it so anytime I see a video using it in any way I have to watch! It's a total addiction!! ❤❤❤❤🤗
Thanks for all the effort, it really helps me pluck up the courage to try and use my washi tapes! ❤
Me too...but, I can't help thinking "what the heck am I so afraid of?" Lol
❤ Thank you so much! I watched this video weeks ago and promptly forgot about the rub coat technique. I did a crescent moon paper washi tape inside of an open bezel crescent moon shape....failed miserably. I tried to remember which of your videos experimented with this and it took me a minute to find this one again. Genius! I took copious notes and will try again.
❤❤❤❤ you get 4 big hearts from me Claire. Thank you for the video. It was fantastic 😍😍. Hugs to you my friend 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Claire! It is definitely making it better. Appreciate your hard work trying to solve this. ❤
I love this experiment!! Awesome job, Claire!!! 🤩
Proper game changer Claire - thank you!
❤ love your work claire
Thank you so much for doing this experiment for us Claire. So so helpful ❤
♥️ awesome results!
❤ love them Claire. Thanks for your expertise
❤❤ love that you do all the experimenting for us to get to the crux of different techniques! It seems the plastic backing makes the difference which makes sense 👍🏻 still, your idea makes a great difference to the results 🤩 xx
You are absolutely brilliant ❤
Thank you so much, Claire ❤❤❤
Thank you for experimenting this for us!
Thanks for sharing all the tips and tricks and experiments, Claire. Helps immensely. 👏🏻😁
Learned a lot, thank you.
Great experiment Claire 👍 Thank you so much for sharing with us 🤩👍
A fascinating experiment, Claire. Thank you for another great video.
Omg Claire you are a hero!! Thank you for your efforts! You are killing it!! ❤🥰❤
Here til the end Claire...you're awesome, thanks for all your experimenting !
Love it! x
Fantastic video Claire ❤❤ Thank you so kindly for sharing this wonderful idea with us all. Take great care Love ❤❤❤❤
Claire you are a genius!!!!
❤thank you for testing the rubbed vs not rubbed approach!
When regular resin cures, it contracts. I imagine the same is true for Uv resin. So, not doing a “rub” coat will result in the resin contracting which could pull the tape up. When you did the vid with the sticker washi tape, you used a fair amount LESS UV resin for the rub coat… if you do an even thinner layer (like the first vid), it may work as well as the first video.
❤❤❤ thank you, this was very helpful
Hi Claire great experiment with great results, thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
❤ great video Claire! I was just about to use some clear stickers, this is very helpful ❤😊
Great experiment 👍! Thanks 😊

❤ Thank you Claire for the this experiment. I’ve learned so much from your channel. This one was great !! Thank you for all the great content you have !! ❤❤
Excellent experiment ❤ 🍀☘️
Wow, that was a good experiment Claire. I have not used that poly resin yet, I’m anxious to try it
Love these and great way to reduce the lines from the stickers.
❤❤ absolutely love this ❤️
❤ Great Test
Hash tag sciscors..
-paper scissors
-cloth scissor
-scissors for tight delicate spots.
-scissors for whatever
-cloth scissors.
For this project i have about 1-3 in scissors used for delicate, tight and intricate cutting.
You need scissors for paper, cloth, vinyl and plastic
Scissors are the best investment you’ll ever make and keep them separate..
Like a chef and their knives. Your scissors and dont let others use.
Use common sense on what to use. I havent covered all material and 3 types of scissors should do it. Paper scissors and vinyl scissors need the smallest and regular size.
I really dont need to say this but left handed people need to use left handed scissors. The best cutters i know are left handed and they cant cut a crooked line with right handed scissors.
PS dont forget to keep sharp at the right angle. Use a pair that isnt from the dollar store but isnt the best or the worst. Use the pair you use on the rough cut scissors.
I love your site and never mean anything as being ruse or a critism. Im adding little things i’ve found that you may appreciate or may not. But i love what you do and feel you are so hard on yourself. You dont need to be hard on youself you do an amazing job. Thank you for all the time, effort, money that you put in to helping us improve our projects as well as giving is amazing ideas. Sorry for any and all spell check or finger oops. I try to catch them but…god bless you and have a beautiful spring and summer.
Great experiment. They look pretty ❤😊
❤❤I learned so much🎉 Be safe
❤ thanks for going the extra mile 😊
A very useful tip for those who are trying to get perfect finish , thank you so much for sharing it here,Ms Claire 😍.The difference in both the ways is evident here. And these washi tapes are tooo beautiful 💜💜💜
❤ great experiment Claire thank you for your time spent on this. I did the 3d layered fish stickers a few years back and loved it EXCEPT for the very obvious edges. Now I can try it again and hopefully the UV rub will help. I adore the last 2 pendants you made btw - gorjussss!
I have made a few pieces with stikers and put them aside cause I didn't like the edges showing. You have now came to the rescue. I will try again using your method.Thank you so much for this video and all your other videos as well. You're the best.😊
Lots of info but really good. Thank you. 😊
Claire! Brilliant. Can you try the same with waterslide paper/temp tattoos? Pretty please? 😅
Hi on replay. Hope you are well. Looking forward to watching this ❤
The rub seems to be getting rid of that magnification that top coating does when you use it plain. Loved the experiment. Thx Claire.
❤. Great video. Thanks.
❤ great video
Thank you
Thank you for all your time, help and ides😘💕💕💕💕🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
On the angle of the shot of the transfer once you put the resin on at certain angles it looks like the washi tape is perforated all over with microscopic holes.... might be my eyesight though lol 😁
I looked again and Its the first one you did after you put the resin on but not rubbed, the resin magnifies it and it shows the best at the bottom of the piece....
❤ beautiful washi tape
What a cool experiment!! I love experiments but so allergic to resin am gutted so living the resin life through you 😂
I know this is not Jesmonite related. But today at an event I had someone interested in trying Jesmonite after she had done a craft class. So I directed her to your TH-cam page. 👍
Another great video. I wonder if the PET would look better on a clear or glittered base, then a rub and top coat?. 😍
I would bet the adhesive is reacting with the heat and creating the scales and you just can't see it on an opaque paper sticker. I would try the same process but use a regular resin.
I think the lighter could melt the edges smooth. Love the test
Nice! I'm wondering if the "iridescent" fish scale look is somehow the adhesive on the clear PE washi tape itself? If you take a piece and just rub it onto a piece of clear glass you might be able to see how the adhesive looks just stuck and burnished onto something clear you can see through without the resin. Then with resin. Might narrow down the culprit. 🤔 Just a thought ❤
Thanks for sharing your findings as you experiment on this!
I wonder if the heat of the UV resin curing causes the adhesive on the tape to warp and this causes a slight de-lamination that results in these shiny spots. Or maybe the slight shrinkage of the resin as it cures shifts the sticker away from the surface it’s bonded to very slightly - just enough to show in places and sometimes even stop the resin making contact with the backing pendant in extreme cases. I think the adhesive being the cause might explain why your experiment of adding a layer of resin _under_ the sticker also didn’t work.
If the shiny spots do have something to do with the curing process interfering with the adhesive, that might explain why your rub coat works, because that very small amount of resin would have a less dramatic effect during curing, and once that’s sealed the top coat is no problem. I wonder if there’s some other kind of coating you could use to seal the tape in place then top with resin to avoid messing with the adhesive bond. Or maybe there’s a way to cure the resin so that it doesn’t generate as much heat while curing (or shrink less? Idk)?
Great comparisons Claire!
Does it happen when you use regular resin vs uv resin? Maybe the heat from the lamp causes that? ❤❤
Love your videos. Please may I ask do you have to wait 4 weeks for the polyurethane resin to degas like epoxy resin? X
How about rubbing the uv resin underneath and then rub the uv resin on top. Put it under the uv light and then top coat it? You rubbed it underneath but, didn't do it on top, for the the 3rd or fourth. It's the experiment before the last. The flowers were placed on the bottom and a portion of the top was blank? Just a thought.
Very interesting. What happens on a resin base instead of a poly base?
I've GOT it. If the sticker is not cut so jaggerdy (lol) it won't show the fish scales. I've purchased professional PET stickers, and the cuts are so smooth that they just dissapere in the resin, and it makes the edges invisible. ❤❤❤
Hmm. great! I wonder if that technique will work with transfers?
I wonder if you added the tiniest amount of glitter to the rub coat or top coat (or both) if it would help camouflage the edges?
Regardless they're still so pretty!!
always to the end. I really liked this video. I learning experiments. Thanks
❤ I'm wondering if the temporary tattoos do the same thing? Thank you Claire for showing these experiments ❤❤
Love your art!! What is the difference between Washi PET tape & Washi stickers? It's confusing since they are both on a roll
I've been looking for those pendant molds here in the US. What size are the pieces that you demold, please? Oh and I absolutely love and look forward to your videos every couple of days. You have inspired me so much, to play not only with different resin types, but now polymer clay too! ♥
Do you have Lin, to the rotary tool please and thank you x
After putting on the sticker, and rubbing it down, turn the resin disk over...sticker side down. DO NOT TRIM THE STICKER LIKE YOU DID --TRIMMING AROUND THE FOLIAGE. Then you can take an exacto knife and trim away the excess sticker. Then you won't have the problems you had, by using the scissors, and trying to trim around the foliage.
What do you think about painting the edges of the washi tape with some white paint or paint the bottom of the washi tape with white paint (just an idea)
Hi lovely, does it have to be on the polyurethane resin? Me and the entire resin community THANK YOU!!! for you dedication to the cause and love for finding out all of these things so we don’t have to my lovely!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe try some uncured resin under the washi transparent tape?
I have that tool but have not use it yet
What about using guilding glue for foil under washi tape so it is tacky to seal the edge. Then either rub coat or top coat or both. I wonder if it is the adhesive. If washi tape made an non adhesive version and you applied uv resin under the washi tape.. cured it ..then did rub coat and top coat...or just top coat ..I wonder what you would get?
🍰🍭🍬No heart on the kindle fire so you get some cake!
Good experiment. Thanks.
Claire, have you tried to heat up the tape and then rub it on to increase the stickyness? There must be a reason why there are air pockets under the stickers...
I wonder if you adhered the tape to the resin with something like mod podge would fix the edges all together 🤷🏼♀️ just a thought
