I've been working with baked clay for quite a while but this video enlightened me to the fact that masking tape... can be baked. This will revolutionize bulking for my sculptures dude thank you Also, since you've baked your sculpture multiple times, that could be why it's so brittle. The longer the Sculpey spends in the oven, the harder it'll get and the more likely it is to break. You have to be pretty sparing with bakes, my biggest tip would be to make limbs separate to the body (with spots to attach them), bake them all at once, and then go over the joints and open areas with some more clay. Saves you some bakes and keeps your clay sturdy! Also makes it easier to keep limbs symmetrical, and since you can attach and remove them at will (until the final bake) it's easier to add details without messing up other areas of the body when you're holding the sculpt. Of course, that's my own experience :)
This is really good! I can definitely see improvement from the allo, and the coloration and overall sculpt is really pretty too. Glad this one finally came out haha, knowing of all the updates you were giving on how this was coming along just emphasizes for me how much time and effort you put into your content! Keep it up :)
I've been thinking about making a sculpture like this for a long time. It was refreshing to see that you had some difficulties, that's really motivating (and funny). It always looks too easy for the professionals. The end result is cool, by the way. :D
@@ichthyovenator3351 i guess not, but i love to imagine the 3 baryonychids all chilling/eating fish fingers in the same place. regardless, video was BALLER
In regards to making dioramas and sculpts in the future. I recommend looking at Vallejo Diorama products, similar to what i use for my 1/35 scale ww2 dioramas. In regards to the arms and getting those right, I would recommend making them out of a much thinner wire and / or attempting to sculpt them completely separately with attachment points. Might be better to completely free sculpt the arms and hands.
Good suggestions. I’ve seen vallejo used a lot so I’ve been meaning to try it. The thing with the arms is I’ve noticed I end up not keeping in scale when they’re seperated, but most likely practice would fix that
I recently quit modeling for a while after not really making anything good And mostly never finishing it, but here you are with this video, and I now have motivation to continue making stuff, so thanks I guess
Dude. You are ridiculous! You are so freaking talented it's beyond amazing . Like if I knew you and you showed me that and said, " I made this " I'd be like ok. Suuure ya did. Damn dude you're killing it. Propskudos. You're a master.
If you're looking for something to sculpt I have two ideas when is hard to do the other ones a bit more easy. The easy one would be a Acrocanthosaurus (do whatever you want with the acro you're the one making it) But the hard one, would be a Becklespinax covered in armor (something akin to how Knights armored up their horses) acting as a sheepdog protecting some sheep from wolves.
So EXTREMELY chonky, especially in the legs, but this is paleo accurate (I think), because they had to support its 450-500-kilo weight (the weight estimate is from the Australian Museum)
@@ichthyovenator3351if you have enough you should consider a huge bust of some dinosaur like a 1:15~ tyrannosaurus head or bust and have it in your wall like a mount
@@ichthyovenator3351 the less frill spikes the better. I’ve sculpted nasutoceratops, Furcatoceratops, and Pachyrhinosaurus. In that order. That Furcatoceratops was the most difficult thing I ever sculpted, I sculpted the Pachyrhinosaurus’s head separately and that made it better, and the nasutoceratops was in the infancy of my sculpting career. So it sucks, bad.

Thanks for the advice! I usually bake it to avoid smothering it whole sculpting areas so this would probably make things a lot easier!
completely unrelated but the gigantoraptor drawing in the back is phenomenal
Thanks! I unfortunately couldn’t film the drawing since I drew it at school during class😅

Nice to see a fellow artist do something absolutely beautiful
This is pretty amazing. Looks so realistic

this is amazing!!! def something you could do more often!
That's good to hear!
This is easily my favorite Baryonyx interpretation I have seen
Thank you!
I've gotta say this looks spectacular! Amazing work!
This was a great accompaniment to working on my dinosaur colouring book! I love how the model turned out!
It looks beautiful!! Very much like a real animal!
This looks absolutely amazing! But also i cant stop thinking about how it looks skined alive earlie on the video

Nice work, i would love to see more Spinosaurs like Suchomimus or Spinosaurus or something along those lines
Turned out nice, maybe it's stocky but the portrayals of dinosaurs have historically been skin over bones so I would not fret about it
If you brought that up to me, I would think it was a frickin toy. You did really good, Icthyo!
Gorgeous!
HES SO CHUNKY I LOVE HIM
That looks great! Can you sculpt some azdarchid next time? Fluffy cryodrakon would be cool.
Pterosaurs are so odd, when I’m more comfortable with them I’ll definitely make an azhdarchid
Very Very cool!
Very impressive. It reminds me of a James Gurney maquette
You Are So Creative Like Kayakasarus!
That’s high praise!
He looks freaking awesome! I would love so sculpt some dinos but I have no more clay and keep spending my money on BOTM figures
I wish they were cheaper, I really want one
Very nicely done
Reminds me of a penguin. Which for a primarily piscovorous dinosaur is not a bad association!

I use super sculpey but I haven’t really tried other polymer clay brands
Finally, a chonky spinosaur. 90% of aquatic and semi-aquatic creatures are chonkers, so I don't see why spinosauridae wouldn't be.
