Its learned behaviour!! whats wrong is if they like fashion teach them to use a sewing machine. Public speaking teach them to read aloud without mistakes. They have challenges for kids like Math & spelling bees or Camping Jesus I would rather see these girls learning to shoot a GUN!! This is so low class. Since this was filmed (or at least aired) 25 years ago, I'd love to see a "25 Years Later" follow up with each of these children-now-adults to find out just how this lifestyle their parents chose for them ended up affecting their lives.
One of the poor children featured in Toddlers and Tiaras un-alived herself at the age of 18. If you read all of the gory details, my personal opinion is that her mother deserves jail time for child abuse and torture. I’d say she suffered the worst punishment by losing her daughter, but even the obituary she wrote subtly betrayed her priorities and personal agenda.

The Whatcom County Medical Examiner's Office in Washington announced in a news release this week that Posey died by suicide at age 16 earlier this month.

How can some of these mothers claim their child is enjoying pageants after the child is weeping before, during and after the pageant. The child's home life is taken over with practice and lessons for pageant talent where she's judged constantly.

Cystic Fibrosis really is a bad condition - However, some children can reach adulthood, especially with the newer medications out there.
I know a chap in his early 40's with CF- he spent so much time in hospital as a young person, physio and taking daily meds to help him digest his food. It's an inherited condition.

When my girls were young i put them in exactly 2 padgents. At the 2nd one i saw mothers actualy smacking thier girls because they wouldnt/couldnt sit perfectly still in chairs for HOURS on end waiting for others to finish on stage. We never went back. I agree that this garbage equals child abuse!
I never had a dream of being Cinderella or a beauty queen! Those thoughts are coming from the moms. I do not believe in pageants! They do more harm than good to their daughters. The younger children are tired from it all.
5 year old Lindsay and her siblings will need a whole lot of therapy, what a hellish mother, she shows no love and they are babies. Wonder how they are doing now?

These kids are just average kids but the makeup hair and clothes turns them into something TOTALLY DIFFERENT.
One of the moms works 3 jobs and sleeps 2 hours a night to support her daughter's pageants. Yikes! As a fellow mother of a beautiful daughter who loves to dress up and perform, I could never imagine making such a sacrifice. What skills and experiences of value do these pageants provide? I'd rather invested my limited time, energy, and money elsewhere.

A chap I know has it- he was in and out of children's hospital for years on end. Luckily for him modern drugs have enabled him to reach adulthood.
She had a terminal illness and had to spend her time on earth doing pageants how heartbreaking

Jenny? She didn't make it to 18, she passed away not long after this was filmed of congestive heart failure while waiting for a transplant. We do have somewhat of an answer to your question as she had another daughter named Cassidy following Jenny's death, I believe they are in the Toddlers and tiaras show, I haven't watched that though.

That's so sad in the most pathetic way 🙄 I feel sorry for these kids! I was so blessed to grow up at my grandparents on their little farm, my grandpa was a high respected breeder for Rottweiler, since my birth I got a special bond with dogs and I was the happiest child to run across fields, swimming in the sea and play in the woods with two big Rottweiler and a German Shepherd ❤ I did not know anything about make-up or dresses, I did not have to perform something only to get McDonald's or toys, I was so appreciated and beloved just the way I was ❤

My kids did beauty parents for a few years. Some of the parents acted just this way, but the majority that I met were just normal moms and kids. But one time I saw a mom slap her 2 year old for not winning, I had one mom jump all over me because my 5 year old son beat her daughter in a talent portion of a contest. The system we did was very wholesome with lots of of rules about makeup, hair styles, etc

there is nothing wrong with pageants as long as everyone is having fun. One of my daughters did pageants when she was younger (here in Canada) She was very shy when she started (she was about 4 when we started) She absolutely LOVED them. Loved dressing up, the hair and the makeup. We didn't go every weekend but a few times a year. I always told her as long as she does her best and has fun that's all that matters. As she grew older her interest in them slowly went away but her confidence in being on stage now in front of people is amazing. She has gone on stage and given speeches and has no fear now.
The ONLY part of this video I had problems with was the fact that a camera person was in the the dressing room with a topless 14 year old. Her mother should have NEVER ever allowed that. I'm hoping the camera person was female, but I highly doubt it
I have a naturally beautiful great Granddaughter, her smile lights up a room. She is innocent and hopefully will stay that way and I feel sure her Mom would never exploit her.
