i've always respected this guy as a coach, sure he's emotional, but he's passionate about his team and players...and yes prior to the current saints mora brought he saints closest to greatness than they had ever seen....taking them to the playoffs several times during his tenure, including winning the nfc wes division titlet in 1991...
Despite the way his ten year run as the New Orleans Saints head coach ended, he is still seen as an NFL legend and a New Orleans Saints hall of famer. Nobody can deny what Jim Mora has accomplished with a team that went through 20 years of mediocrity as well as changing the attitudes of a fan base that experience 20 long, hard, and frustrating years of witnessing this beloved team have one losing season after another. Jim Mora never won in the post season or won a Superbowl, but he tried everything in his power to get the Saints to greatness and be the best football team they can be. And for Jim Mora's outstanding efforts Whodatnation thanks him. WHODAT.
People take pot shots at him, but don't forget he took them from being the 'Aints, to the playoffs, they just couldn't get past Joe Montana's 49ers. He was 1987 coach of the year, and much better than Wade Phillips before him, or Mike Ditka, who came after.
They didn't play the niners in the playoffs he ran his guys in the ground John McKay took a sorry ass bucs expansion team from 0 and 26 to the NFC championship in three years. Players hated Mora if your players hate you it mentally screws them up
As Domirules28 said below, I will always be grateful to Jim Mora because it was under his tenure that the Saints finally had a winning team. He gave us the "Dome Patrol" which many sportswriters believe is still the best linebacker corp in NFL history. He made the Saints believe in themselves and for the first time ever, we were proud to be Saints fans. But sadly, he was not a playoff coach. Yes he took us to the playoffs but could not win a playoff game. Nevertheless, it felt great to be "America's Team" for a change. Who Dat mania swept the nation. It felt great to be part of it while it lasted.
2:10-END There goes a legend right there. Never won a playoff game but still from 1987-1993 never had a losing season. 1994 he struggled but still hung in there and took others down despite finishing 7-9. 1995 started out 0-5 but wound up going 7-4 rest of season. Again 7-9 but hey 7-4.... 1996 he realized he was finally burned out. I know they had a lot of good times.
Did you know that Jim Mora and Jack Kemp were room-mates at Occidental College? While the Saint's announcers were rehashing this for the 200th time, the Rams, 49'ers and Falcon's announcers were talking about what how great their teams were playing.
Offense was abysmal; fans were calling for Carl Smith to be fired. Mora refused. When the 49'ers bet them with Rickey Jackson as a 49'er, Rickey muttered, "same old offense".
Jim Mora did what any and every football coach would've done to have a successful football team. He may not have been the nicest guy in the world, he mite have been emotional at times. Nevertheless, all he ever wanted was for the Saints to be successful. l hated to see his career as Saints head coach end the way it did.
Jim Mora was referred to as an almost god in my home growing up. My dad lived through the 70s and early 80’s Saints and it can’t be understated how impactful this guy was in turning around the franchise that was previously the #1 shit show of the league. They were a complete joke before he came around.
Apparently that "horse***t performance" The Saints had against The Panthers was the straw that fractured the camel's vertebra. How the mighty had fallen...
1:24 If by "close to being a very good Football team", he means the 49ers, Rams and Falcons getting more yards on one drive that the Saints did the whole game, he's right. They got beat by Steve DeBerg, by gosh...
Saints had no offense the whole time Mora was there but he sure did have the Dome Patrol. Sam Mills ,Ricky jackson , Pat Swilling and Vaughn Johnson now imagine that with Brees , Kamara Mike Thomas and sean payton
The definition of a real quitter. He couldn't figure out how to run a team to save his life. Funny how sean peyton was able to do what he dreamed about doing

The Saints went on to go 3-13 that year.
Offense was abysmal; fans were calling for Carl Smith to be fired. Mora refused. When the 49'ers bet them with Rickey Jackson as a 49'er, Rickey muttered, "same old offense".

He said "just give him one ounce of privacy." That qualifiies as being an a-hole?

Ends up coaching the colts which started out to be terrible. Even with Peyton manning
And decided that Marshal Faulk needed to be traded. Oh man.
Poor jim mora never had any peace at that team

Mercedes. Nice.

Man at the door
Jim Mora is very mean. 1:27
No wonder why his teams quit on him
His teams never quit on him lol just some fake fan talking out their ass
No way his team ever quit on him they wouldn’t dare

Mora needed a franchise QB. Funny how Peyton isn’t that great without one.
See ya lol
