Only thing I will say it that the switch version seems to make it harder to see some things… or is it just me? I’ve run around a room several times trying to figure out where to go until i’ve seen a ledge from the right angle…
Me personally i stay with the original version even though its old i feel like it has much mor detail then the remasterd one for example in the original version you could se samus eyes through the visor on the remaster on you just se a green screen
They literally redesigned the entire Gane, every detail of the Areas can be seen The eges of the Metal Sheets can be seen on the ship, the cracks in the walls of the Chozo Ruins can be seen, Ice is now transparent and so on

The original Metroid Prime was way ahead of It's time. I even remember several game journalists commenting on this back In 2002 with one saying that It felt like some cutting edge game from 7 years Into the future got shot back In time and released on the GameCube, haha.
I really hope they do a 2 and 3. I bought a Wii after selling my Wii Collection. Even without Metroid Prime Trilogy it's worth keeping. But I remember really loving the pointer/waggle controls for Metroid Prime 3. It was perfect.
Of all tweaks and changes, this might be one of the smallest that bugged me, but I can't be the only one out there that feels this way - does anyone else feel the Power Beam's pulsing light effect along the arm cannon to be way too flashy in the remaster? In the original it was very subtle, more of a little accent detail and finishing touch to the arm cannon to let you both visually see the beam type selected, and give you the sense that this was a piece of technology that was primed and ready to use. In the remaster, it's like a bloody rave is going on inside the thing. The effect is cranked up to the point where it's almost distracting.
Despite myself owning the Steam Deck and the countless other handheld PCs on the market today my Switch OLED still amazes me every time I pick it up. It really is amazing what both investment and optimization can accomplish on a little Nvidia Tegra.
While the lighting/shading is vastly better in the remake, the overall texture/modelling almost looks more "cartoony", or more of that bland "CGI" quality. I would have preferred a more realistic aesthetic, like the kind you see in unreal 5 fan remakes, but Nintendo apparently refuses to do that.

It's so cool because you feel as though you're playing the same game. I always thought Metroid Prime looked as good as the Remaster, until I saw the side by side comparison. Now I'm like "oh, Gamecube graphics were pretty darn good, but I have to admit Switch looks absolutely beautiful 😍
GameCube: we want the best graphics of our time! And make sure the audio is booming good!
Just got mine this morning! I remember staring at the environment as a kid playing the original. Thanks to your video I can tell I will be doing the same with the Remastered version as well!
Amazing game music and my go to example for how to do boss battles right!
Great video. I just got my copy today. Nintendo really hit it out of the park with this one. The lighting alone looks crazy good. I can only imagine what this looks like on the OLED model.
I'm impressed how good it looked on GameCube as well!! Retro Studio is legendary.
when my biggest fear is nintendo not doing this treatment for prime 2, you know they did something right.
you never know we might get the trilogy remastered and that would be a dream come true
Gamecube version still looks and sounds absolutely beautiful. It holds up VERY well to this day, other than its one stick control on a two stick controller. The remake is how I saw the game back in during my many runs. I love both versions.
Let's appreciate how awesome Metroid prime for GC looks, this game is over 20 years old!
Just ran through this classic twice. Once in normal and a 2nd on hard. Man the memories
Finished the remaster today! Still have the GC copy that my brothers would play 15 years ago. It's crazy to see how well the graphics hold up to today
Man, I have the same feeling with this remaster as I had with both zelda games and dtarfox remasters on the 3DS.
They have done such a good job !
Anyone who thinks the Majora's Mask "rEmAsTeR" is anything but garbage must be a bot, or never played the original.
@@zamonsta Majora's Mask was the first Zelda I have ever 100%-ed without FAQs or walkthroughs back and was my only Zelda I had on the N64. The 3DS version has its own strengths and weaknesses, but I overall enjoyed it. Not the Mona Lisa, but not garbage.
I'm happy that people can play these classic games on a new system, but I'm content with playing these games on the original systems for the memories/nostalgia.
It looks better on the switch definitely, but the GameCube is aging VERY WELL.
While the good that the remaster brought is undeniable and it's likely to be the way I play from now on, I gotta say I still kinda prefer the original's atmosphere in a lot of places. The punched up lighting, while looking amazing, does make some things feel less grounded, which is a lot of what i loved about the original.
I will say that it is harder to tell that the planet’s been impacted from space in that first shot in the remaster. You can see the fracture lines from what I assume is the impact point in the Gamecube version.
This is a remake named remaster for modesty. Awesome work on the comparison!
It's just a remaster. You clearly don't know what a remake is
@@johndodo2062 you don't have it do you? 🤣 Otherwise you'd know this game is pretty much a remake lol. Just with the title of remaster. How many other devs are making remasters of 20 year old games that look brand new in almost every way and not just a simple upscale of the resolution?
@@bmac2814 A remake is starting from the ground up while a remaster is just upgrading. And yes there have been a few remaster that was way better looking than the originals. For example Final Fantasy 8 and 9 remaster looks amazing.
@@johndodo2062 It is a point in between.
While regards like the movement and layout remain almost the same, others like the visuals are absolutely overhauled, except for certain animations but I imagine they will polish those later
@@Yannaro_Kim except this is a significantly bigger upgrade than the ff8 and ff9s remasters. Those are more like what people consider a remaster. This does keep a lot of the original elements gameplay wise, but visually much more akin to a remake.
i remember the gc version had water effects that was removed from the wii triology version.. if you morph ball rolled in water it showed the water splashing around.. is it in the switch version?
Yes
@@iRedditShorts really? cool! just bought the game but the physical version isnt avavible here until the end of march for some reason..
This remaster + the added gyro aiming option = gaming heaven.
The Motion Control was already added in the Wii version, but yes, gyro is more comfortable than having to point towards the TV
I still don't understand why they fuck up the beams light source on the remasters, like why you remove that?
I'm excited for Prime 4, but I wish we could get Prime 2 and 3 remastered like the first game.
Its.. as beautiful as I remember.. 😭 in the way that I remember the original, this remaster looks goooood!!!
dude the parasites queen looks gnarly now! The updated textures & lighting look so beautiful 👌
this game just brings me back to a beautiful place at home with my brothers, i miss them so much.
Wow. Props to Nintendo and Retro! I bought it yesterday and haven't had a chance to play it yet but the game looks far better than I imagined it would!
No matter what Metroid will always be my favorite video game series from Nintendo ever there will never be a debate in my eyes.
This was one of those games that when I wasn't playing, I was thinking about playing.
Does the ice gun freeze over when you charge it in the remastered version? If not, then what's the point?
It does and it looks phenomenal.
J'adore le travail que tu a fait sur cette vidéo comparatif.
I never played this one back in the day. I'm very happy they did this so much justice. I'll definitely be picking it up!
I remember playing Game cube version, and playing right now the switch one... Damn it looks so good like new generation games, i am enjoying this so much. Waiting prime 2 switch remake
I never played this game before, but I gotta say the remastered game looks so good. looks so polished, and assuming this game is mainly keeping most of the original games original game style. gonna try and take a crack with this myself sometime.
What’s crazy is while playing the game it felt & look exactly how it did when I was a kid! The way it looks now is what the graphics looked like to me then lol but seeing the side by side you see how much they improved it. The only thing that jump out to me like whoa I don’t remember this looking like that was this boss & the ice 🦖 looking things you can tell they was updated
I've pre-ordered the physical copy :) So excited
The left: How it was
The right: how we remember it
100% the truth.
I was 17 yo old when I bought Metroid Prime in the black! Gamecube bundled with the game. The black GC looked far better than the purple one.
I had the black gamecube as my first. It eventually failed and I got a platinum. I was about 11 or 12 myself at the time. I love that console lol. The remaster of Metroid Prime is incredible.
I'm playing it rn and it's amazing definitely worth to spend time playing
Graphics just peaked in 2002
As Great as this Remaster is... The Beam weapon effects are totally missing from the Remaster - In the Original Game all the Beam/Laser weapons each lit the environment as they traveled across the space! - That super immersive feature is Totally missing in the Remaster. You can clearly see that even in this video... But still a great Job!
Dang looks pretty damn amazing!
I been playing the remastered version for a while I do like how the visor screen has led lights top and bottom and Samus arm cannon flashing all the time in comparison to the game cube version
Considering how this was one of the first GameCube games really goes to show how underrated the gc was
What’s amazing is my dad got me the game for 7$ between super smash melee and Mario kart double dash, this became my favorite to this day, 18 years later
Nice vid. Subbed.
I am loving it. I’m also equally surprised at how much I remember and how much I can’t remember lol! I didn’t realise how much improved the graphics were until this video so thanks.
The game cube version still looks amazing especially for its time
They literally redesigned the entire Gane, every detail of the Areas can be seen
The eges of the Metal Sheets can be seen on the ship, the cracks in the walls of the Chozo Ruins can be seen, Ice is now transparent and so on
Nice video as always. Keep up the work!
This just confirms that the Gamecube version was truly amazing for its time!
I remember this coming out back in 2002 and it was really the first game where I was like whoa... graphics just reached a whole new level. It was mind blowing.
Glad I had a Component Video Cable for my GameCube back then. Definitely helped the resolution
Now just waiting for Echoes & Corruption.
Wonder if they'll ever remake 007 Agent Under Fire??
Never played this game but seeing this shows how much effort was put into this remaster.
The original Metroid Prime was way ahead of It's time. I even remember several game journalists commenting on this back In 2002 with one saying that It felt like some cutting edge game from 7 years Into the future got shot back In time and released on the GameCube, haha.
Wow that’s actually quite nice!
What is the name of the song that plays at the ndo f the video? It's from metroid, right? I would love to know the name.
Yes! It is "Brinstar (The Jungle Floor)" from Super Metroid.
@@indominus_B Thank you so much! And great video :)
I really hope they do a 2 and 3. I bought a Wii after selling my Wii Collection. Even without Metroid Prime Trilogy it's worth keeping. But I remember really loving the pointer/waggle controls for Metroid Prime 3. It was perfect.
Best part is they probably will have the pointer control scheme if they do a Prime 3 remaster seeing how they kept that in the Prime 1 remaster
this is awesome! thank you
I see they gave Samus that sweet, sweet intergluteal crease. Seriously though, they did a fantastic job overall and I've been loving the game!
The sound design is simply phenomenal
I think Retro Studios did a test run to see what Metroid Prime 4 would look like by remastering Prime 1
Yeah this is their prototype Engine, MP4's engine going to be way better than this one..
OG still looks amazing to this day. The GC was a beast.
I am not ready to go through the haunted ship in HD. Nope, I am not brave enough.
I could tell by the style and the looks of it. I'm definitely going to buy a Nintendo switch 2 for 2023 for the legacy Metroid
The effect is cranked up to the point where it's almost distracting.
gamecube version still looks fantastic. gave me chills watching it.
Is there a remastered version for Metroid 2 ?
There is a remake of Metroid 2 on the 3DS.
The original is so well done. But the remaster is definitely easier on the eyes.
Looks fantastic overall, but why did they give Samus' suit an asscrack in the remaster? 2:10
