In the last match of their Asia Tour, BVB faced the Vietnamese national team in Hanoi. At first, everything went as expected, with Dortmund taking the lead in the 13th minute through the in-form Donyell Malen. But then the Vietnamese suddenly equalised before the break through Tien Linh. In the second half, BVB had several good chances, but failed to take advantage of them. Vietnam managed to secure the surprise 2-1 victory in the 90th minute through a penalty kick from Tuan Hai. There was a curious incident shortly before the penalty as BVB keeper Marcel Lotka briefly managed to damage the crossbar... have you ever seen a goal being lift off its hinges? Really embarrassing as a Vietnamese, hope our country will have better infrastructures. It's a friendly match after all, so making ppl happy is more important. I know Vietnamese ppl have high hope in this team since this has been the last year of Park Han SEO, and winning against big team like Dortmund gives our team a great momentum, but in the end we shouldn't take it too serious since everything can happen in football, just like Saudi can win against Argentina.

Vietnamese football has gotten better in terms of playing, but in terms of facilities it is still quite bad and still needs a lot of improvement 👍👍
There are millions of Vietnamese people overseas. As a Vietnamese in Germany who tried to play amateur football in very very young years I comfirm that as a Vietnamese, its really difficult to play football properly when the competition has better genes. The only chance for a Vietnamese football player is to play in Vietnam but then theres the problem with those football facilities.

Anyways, you may have some good explanation about the lack of Vietnamese talents oversees. Its just my own observation as a person who is playing football in the youth living in Europe who has contact with several other Asian Whatabouts who tried their best.
Even Japanese and South Korean players playing in Europe on professional level are not original trained by Europeans in the very youth but are invited later on. Those who where raised and trained in Japan, South Korea got facilities superior to other countries with lesser developed football organization.
So thats my point, if you are Asian oversees (Europe) you have no chance to step up to professional class if you compete with others - maybe its not about genes, maybe the numbers are just relative but in this case the number of Vietnamese talents born oversees goes 0,1%. Just if the facilities in Vietnam raising talents would be more developped anytime soon, European clubs will have an eye on Vietnamese players but European clubs barely tske Vietnamese talents wjo ARE already living „next to them“ due to competition and thats facts.

Spends nearly 5 minutes fixing the goal, 1 minutes of stoppage time, and half of that time, the Vietnamese used it to celebrate. The substitute bench was so unstable that the wind blew it over and landed on BVB players' stuff, then they replaced it with plastic chairs. I love the idea of a club playing against a national team but this is just a shameful display on the side of Vietnam, a lack of preparation is not something a country should be showing to their guests. Vietnam should learn and improve, don't take this as a slander but as a constructive criticism.

I'm so ashamed of our stadium's quality. Also the extra time being 1 minute - thats just so weird since fixing the goalpost took like 10 minutes or sth. Our team won, but it was a rather weird game and I'm not very proud of it. Was fun watching our national team against BvB though. Cheers!
It is the BVB manager asked the referee to finish the game because they had to go to the airport in time. You don't know the truth so don't speak silly words.

Add in the Vietnamese economy rise which is one of the fastest in the world combined with the huge love for the game in the country you have an extremely bright future especially with better money academies and infrastructure into the game. Anyway, I was there and it's ashame about the preparetion, the color of the grass is not that yellow as you see on the tv, it's kinda green, but the quality is not good, and second is the cabinet for both team for coach/subtitle, third is that cross bar, face of the nation, speechless.
A friendly match and BVB did not play with their 100% as the stadium's grass quality may easily injure them.
2-1 for Vietnam is a good start for Vietnam to AFF. However, they need to seriously look at the stadium's infrastructure if they still want to attract more European clubs to come and have a match with them.😐😑

As a Vietnames who are now living in Dortmund, this match would have been the best thing ever happens to me since I'm the big fan of football, sadly what is left after the match is a sad fact about how poor our football federation has run, the fans don't even care about how much the team has improved, Vietnamese fans were once only cared about winning, now they don't even care about it anymore, instead focus on criticizing the stadium and federation, showing how bad the situation is, Vietnam is no doubt one of the best team in Southeast Asia, but our league is so far behind Thailand or Malaysia, I still have hope that one day things will get better and BVB will soon coming back to Vietnam 😁
