    That's some complicated work on just one piece of wood. My heart would be racing the whole time.
    Please, please please, don't screw up...!
    Really like the music to this one too. Sounded like something Buckethead could have put out.

    Every time I see that diresta bandsaw I think of Jimmy's pinky. Must be the best safety measure in your shop!

      I think of it, too, every time I turn it on. When swimming with sharks, I want to keep my eye on the one that's tasted human flesh before. lol

    Hi 👋, I am new to your guitars work shop, that looks amazing, A great work of Art, It is something that I have already been interested in making and repairing Guitar 🎸, I can not play, I have tried, I have brought a few guitars and rebuilt them, with new electric,
    Seymour Duncan pick ups , when I was in my teens I could pay a bit, I was into Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, to name just a few, I am now in my 70s, I still have 6-7 electric guitars 🎸, that I have rebuilt, as peace’s of Art to hang on the wall, but when I listen to my music 🎶,
    CD Tapes and vinyl , through my recently rebuilt transmission line loudspeaker cabinets, they start to set up a residence, so they are now standing in my bedroom, it’s a good job that I live by myself.
    Great territorial, I look forward to another project , ever thought about putting resin in between the framework or the bodies of the guitars.

  • @robinleebraun7739
    @robinleebraun7739 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m imagining how difficult it would be to make that fretboard without a CNC router. The maker would have to be not only a luthier, but a master wood carver.

    • @timsway
      @timsway  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the carving would be fairly easy for a real wood carver who can do intricate shapes and stuff, but for a guy like me it would be a nightmare! Real pipas do it differently, with thin, tall bamboo 'frets' glued on the instrument and traditionally the first 7 are carved jade!

    What are your thoughts on using bamboo in Instrument building? It seems like it’s easy to regrow from a sustainability perspective though it can grow out of control if unchecked. From an extended range guitar players perspective I think seeing bamboo strips layered together would make a cool looking fretboard!

    • @timsway
      @timsway  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've messed around with some bamboo floorboard and stuff. it's all engineered, of course. A little splintery but I think it would be viable. I might still have a piece of that flooring. If I do, I'll cut a fretboard from it to see how it looks :)

    Timbro, you are THE most talented creative genius on TH-cam, it's a complete flummoxing mystery as to why you don't have a million subs!! I love everything you build and design, and one day I'll save enough shekels to buy an original instrument off you and it will be my most prized possession!!
    Did you use reverse snare drum in that recording? I dig it!!
    Take care bro, and say hi to the boy!!

    • @timsway

      Too kind. There are a ot of reasons my channel isn't bigger, the main one is I put very little time in to growing my social media presence. It takes work to get big and I'd rather make things than chase SEOs and algorithms. All the viewers I have, for the most part, are like you who just sort of "found me." That makes this space a lot more pleasant, too, with fewer trolls and BS arguements in my chats to police. Sorry to say all the drums in this are digital, I just used real guitars and basses over loops.

      Oh, and the pipa looks great. Just a question about the pegs: any reason to plug the peg holes? I'm used to them sticking out on the other side.

    • @johanneswerner1140
      @johanneswerner1140 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, sorry, I need to clarify: as a western classically trained (well...) hobby musician. Looking at the peg box of violins.

    • @timsway
      @timsway  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johanneswerner1140 Simply put, I messed up! LOL. I made the headstock too wide and the slot too big and the reamer is for cellos so a different taper. I wasn't happy with the look and grip. It should protrude a little mostly for functionality - more wood to grip against and hold tension. closing the ends made it look better and gave me another surface to "grip" against.

    • @johanneswerner1140
      @johanneswerner1140 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      Just... When you refit the pegs down the line (clean up the peg box and reshape the pegs' taper) you will have to fiddle with the length of the pegs. I guess that's why they poke through on cellos, makes the job easier. I know that this is exactly not what motivates you 😁 (you rock!)

    • @timsway
