I was one year into the R2D2 build. I was in the Paradise Ca. (camp fire) and lost everything including my house. When we rebuild my house and shop, R2 will return again. I worked for Lucas Film I.L.M. for 10 years. I was a Storm Trooper in the re-make of A New Hope ep.4 in 1997. I plan on getting started on this in about a year from now. The force is strong, I'll return.
I had no idea people were doing this. It's Very cool. I grew up watching the original Star Wars as a kid but never thought I could build any of the robots.
I’m building my first R2D2 at this very moment, have the dome. It just needs sanding and finishing, started 3d printing the body now. I have most of the electrics too just need a few more things, I buy bits and pieces every now and again as I 3d print R2D2.
My question is ... can you buy an R2-D2 unit and how much would it cost? And if you can make it possible for you to interact with the robot like in the movie? It would be very interesting to have such a unit in your home and that you can interact with it, not only have it as a luxury or a toy for large people, is that possible? thanks.
