Thank you, Lord. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Thank you, Virgin Mother, for being the Bridge that carried God to us . . . Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, Have Mercy on Us
@mohand7777 It was a good thing that Arabs put an end to Greek (Roman - Rum) vs Persian rivalry over these disputed areas!.. And adopted/reconciliated these 2 highly esteemed traditions (Greek and Persian). Slava Bogu, Δόξα τῷ Θεῷ, Glory be to God..., for protecting us in ways we can't imagine.
Братья и Сестры! Пожалуйста молитесь за Единство. что бы церкви были в единстве не только в пределах здания, молитесь за единство всех церквей между собой .
@mohand7777 «Saint John of Damascus (Arabic: يوحنا الدمشقي Yuḥannā Al Demashqi; Greek: Ιωάννης Δαμασκήνος... Latin: Iohannes Damascenus...) (c. 676 - 749) was a Syrian Christian monk and priest. Born and raised in Damascus, he died at his monastery, Mar Saba, near Jerusalem. A polymath...served as a Chief Administrator to the Muslim caliph of Damascus, wrote works expounding the Christian faith, and composed hymns which are still in everyday use in Eastern Christian monasteries...» (wikipedia)
@ToryAnarchist :) Brother, this is not a chant about resurrection. This is a chant that laments over Christ's dead and tormented body. It is sung during the Great Friday service. Best regards.
@mohand7777 Yes, I agree that there is a Roman ("Byzantine") Orthodox Hellenistic-Semitic tradition before the Arab Conquest. If we put it this way, we agree and we are more accurate. (But how many people hear "Arab" and understand "Arab of the arabian peninsula"?)
I recognize this!!!! Been attending for a year. Pray for me that I may enter the church. And pray that Orthodoxy will be embraced in America. It's very misunderstood here.
@Abdularab90 God is not just a GHOST, HE BECAME MAN so that we can attain Salvation, He took on FLESH, if you read the NEW TESTAMENT, IF you read historical books...He existed on this earth in the form of a GHOST AND MAN....it is not a blasphemy to paint an icon of him....WE KNOW JESUS CHRIST, He did not come to be a SECRET for the few but to be the LIGHT TO THE WORLD.
@mohand7777 It would be more accurate to state that all those peoples conquered by the arabs, semitic by blood (yet not entirely) and greek by culture (at least predominantly) passed on their culture to their primitive yet zealous conquerors. Much of the cultural heritage of those peoples (and this hapenned not only in the middle-east, but also in north-Africa and southern Europe) was destroyed, and christianism was torn out (usually with the sword) and replaced by the invader's religion.
The last prophet ,Muhammad[peace be upon him ]was born in Makkah on Monday,12th Rabi al Awwal .He was born an orphan . He was brought up by his grandfather . His uncle ,Abu Talib , took care of him when he was eight years old . When he was ten or twelve years old , he used to look after the sheep around Makkah . Muhammad was loving , kind , generous ,helpful and honest man . He was an example of prefect character .He lived a very simple life . He was fair in his dealings with all people whether they are friends or enemies .He was known as Al-Sadiq and Al-Amin . He was injured by Quraish but he completed his duty . So, we must follow him and interrupt all people who try to deform something about his life .And
Are you talking about the Arabs in the Levant? We are not greek by culture at all... And you need to learn history, the old cultures of North Africa etc are still there and so are the Christians. Southern Europe was influenced by middle eastern culture and no one there was forced into the "invaders" religion, a lot of people openly converted but those apostates were then later killed by Christians.
Christ, you, who are Life itself,
were placed in a sepulcher,
and legions of angels were astonished
by your condescendence.
God Bless You.

Though I might not understand the words, the "tune" of Christos Anesti is recognizable in any language.
