I love how, even in the final full solution. ...Steve literally has no purpose. Because he was just a mistake. An innocent bystander to literally EVERYTHING that's going on. My guess? He acts as a surrogate for the player who doesn't understand anything - since the Visitor knows Lionel's info going into the final timeline, we need someone else who's essentially clueless. As such, we have Steve who just fucked up and worked late on the wrong day.
Ah Nostalgia. Helped kick start an interest in time travel too and eventually indirectly led me towards Steins;Gate. Amazing game and coverage. Also fun fact, only 3 codes were ever needed for everyone to survive so if Steve wasn't there... they'd still be fine.
Seeing the thumbnail sent me SO MANY MEMORIES!! I remember playing this game, and absolutely loving it! it absolutely messed with my mind for a while! I am so happy to see it immortalized in a video like this, it absolutely deserved it, and you did a great job at it!
It's always a joy to play visual novels with multiple endings with a convergence ending in the end. Such a shame the developer never made anything more after it and the closest thing is the kotaro uchikoshi games.
Sammybloo has made 1 other game, and its pretty cool too! Their writing is too powerful, the universe couldnt handle more of their narrative prowess :(
AHHH OK before you got past the general summary, I went and played the game myself before continuing the videooaoo.. my route went christina ending steve ending lionel ending troy ending it’s really haunting getting troys ending last☹️ GUHAHH GH. one of my favourite moments was when the premise of the experiment was explained by Lionel as the key to immortality and if it works. no-one has to die I WAS LIKE SOYPOINT,,,,!!!!! And yeah God I agree the way steve has to get surrounded by fire to turn the switch to save christina killed me irl. I knew I was going to love this game because I love watching people play bad end theater and this is like if bad end theater was ace attorney (insane and deranged sentences) also the true ending kills me dead because the concept of. Loving someone so much you know you have to meet them again as you leave the timeline your life together so far was made is TOPNOTCH I think the characters that are going to stick with me the most are Troy and the visitor ,. because the subtle differences in the agony Troy and the visitor and the player feel as the loop continues is extremely interesting to mee gwuhhhAGH AND okay the way when I first started playing and the puzzle forces you to accept a casualty, made me think huh. how is there a way no-one has to die(tm) later??? And really the way no-one has to die is if everyone was the last survivor where They came from. That’s like. Not okay……☹️ it’s like. The only way everyone lives is if everyone survives off the deaths of the other three at least once.?!?!, they became phoenixes by surviving the culling of 6 million cockatiels… it’s crazyyyy its awesome thank u for this video
Two things, first, this is an awesome video and i was enraptured the WHOLE time, difficult to achieve with my adhd. Second, i truly hope this gets alot more attention and launches you to stardom, you seem to truly enoy creating content and youve worked immeasurable hours to get to this point
I'd hope someone's told you by now, 999: Nine Persons, Nine Hours, Nine Doors is extremely similar in ways I won't spoil. It strikes me as almost certainly being the inspiration for this game, and explores concepts *much* further. I highly suggest it, as well as the author's other works, including the two sequels to 999. It's a rabbit hole you'll most likely enjoy.
I've got good news, I have played the entirety of the Zero Escape series, though quite a few years after I first played NOHTD, and they ended up being some of my favourite games ever
..... WOW. What a unique concept. This is super super interesting, and an underrated video!!!! Awesome job showing us how this goes! You've earned a sub :)
One of the brst videoes I've watched this year, absolutely amazing work my guy! I'll tell my friends about you because this has truly been an awesome experience
Absolute banger of a video, the game obv has really good storytelling but can tell thought went into when/what order to release info for the best viewer experience 🫂

Great video, i love video essays, but i guess as a viewer tip, if you can, try to look at the camera more
