Propulsion restrictions vary by tournament. Most major tournaments allow pedals and trolling motors, but it's always a good idea to check before signing up.

I'm looking into getting a kayak and doing tournaments hopefully in the near future. Silly question,do you personally run a fish finder?

I don't if I am just leisure fishing, but definitely do if tournament fishing. I recommend something small and easy to use like a Humminbird Helix 7.
