Good presentation! Macro/close-range wildlife/nature photography, for me, started as a way to decompress from the evidentiary/forensic/crime scene photography that I was doing from 2010 to the end of 2017. Photographing flowers, frogs, toads, insects, spiders, lizards, habituated birds, and the occasional supervisory small dogs, served as an antidote to the grim task of photographing living, breathing, traumatized crime victims. After retiring from the PD, and finally buying a Nikkor 500mm f/4E FL lens, and 1.4x tele-converter, to pursue the larger “hero” birds and wildlife at longer range, I still find myself mostly photographing the wee beasties and the plants, in their environments, at close range, using macro and zoom lenses.

Is there a link for Colby's mention of macro wildlife photography (43.20) as I can't find this using Google's increasingly useless search function.

I still dislike Walt Disney for writing that snake-hating old testament. 😂 Good talk, although I would have preferred to hear much more details about the actual how-tos, autofocus vs manual and other practical tips. But I guess that was not the purpose or topic of this talk.
