Not so much an easter egg, but I caught on quite quickly that ALL of the dialog was sort of being role played by various family members, some of whom were never shown on screen. There's an invisible toddler running the CEO (hence why he's shown holding pink drum sticks.) Gerwig apparently directed Gosling to cry as her four year old son cries; I got the impression than much of Ken was being run by a younger brother, the kind who got super excited when he learned about the patriarchy but less so when he learned it wasn't just about horses.
Scott!! Nobody is talking about Scott!! In one of the scenes of the Chelsea tree house, where Skipper lives, there’s a guy on the swing. That’s Scott: Skipper’s old boyfriend from the late 70’s. She came out when the Roller Skates Barbie & Ken came out. As part of the collection, there was a Skipper with a skateboard and also a long purple skirt. Scott was part of the collection. I had the other dolls, but not Scott

I go way back, born in 1959, just like Barbie. I mainly remember the 3 wigs that came with the doll. The next big thing was the “bendable knee” Barbie & Skipper. I would have loved a nod to those but 60+ years is a lot of memories. I just wish my Ken was Ryan ( and I do remember Allen!)
My mom was born in 1959! She used to have a major collection of Barbie dolls when she was still alive. She had around 200+ Barbies. Here are some I remember vividly: Lucille Ball Barbie, Marilyn Monroe Barbie, Elvis Barbie, Catwoman Barbie, Ballerina Barbie, 2000 Holiday Gown Barbie, Cowgirl Barbie and Madonna Barbie. Oh how I miss my mother! x
I was born in 1958. I also had the Barbie with the 3 wigs. My Mom and I made clothes for Barbie. I didn’t have any of the store bought Barbie accessories. I made things for her. I made a house for her on two shelves in my closet and my brother made an elevator to get to the second floor (shelf) My niece has my Barbies now. @kaleybrowning so sorry about your Mom
This movie is so awesome. I went with all my girlfriends and we spent the whole time roaring with laughter, as did the rest of the audience. There was a man behind us who kept making little comments during serious scenes that cracked us up, too, like, “Whoa, that’s deep,” and after a sad part, “I’m gonna need a beer after this movie.” The movie didn’t strike my friends and I as woke. It was just from the POV of girls/women. Men who aren’t used to thinking from that POV see it as as strange and extreme, but none of the women I know do. It disappoints me that more men don’t understand the movie, but then, it wasn’t made for them.
I disagree. It shows that both men and women have vulnerabilities and neither need not get trapped with infatuation. It was just as bad as when Ken was infatuated with Barbie as it was when the Barbies were infatuated with the Ken. Neither reflect healthy relationships, which is why Barbie didn't want to return Barbieland to how it was previously. Barbie felt an Agape love for Ken. She didn't want to hurt him despite not having romantic feelings for him.
I was sitting next to two guys, I would say in their late teens, and I realised that they actually chose to go to this movie, and they loved it! When they saw the ‘I’m Kenough’ sweater I overheard them saying that they wanted it, and I caught something like ‘this movie was balling’. Now, I am 28. I am not that old, but this is definitely different from 10 years ago, when boys around me wouldn’t be caught dead going to a Barbie movie. It warmed my heart. And for me? I cried many times. I felt incredibly seen. Everything about this movie was just *chef’s kiss*.

1:30 in the video it's not Life in the Dreamhouse, it's Dreamhouse Adventures
The movie "The Godfather" can be seen streaming on Ken's TV in the Dream House he took over as his own. Why this particular film? Perhaps it is a reference to the old/current Hollywood studio system, male dominated and controlled. It could also be a reference to the themes of masculinity in The Godfather, also one of the themes in Barbie The Movie.
