      On his channel, he’ll set a crack boulder problem which, genuinely, no one else on earth will do, he’ll spend a week on it, in immense pain, but once he’s done it, he’ll start to master it and he will very quickly downgrade it massively. Insanely humble and insanely talented

      Pete also casually tore a ligament doing a horrible heel hook during a video between Midtbø and himself and still felt fine enough to try to do a few more climbing attempts. The tearing was not meaningful as he is now back to his usual strength but still.

    So I just watched 20 minutes of men hanging from a rod. Just hanging and falling off. I never even noticed the time - totally engaged by guys doing basically nothing. Genius level editing and film story telling guys! It has long been the case that 'part' of why Storror is what Storror is - the film making is as good as any and incredibly consistent, week on week on week. Pete is an ironman without an ounce of tough guy energy about him. What you might call a 'sleeper' when it comes to toughness. A spectacular display of both body and mind power/endurance. A gripping movie in which very little happened.

      Endurance, not necessary strength :)

    • @gezzapk
      @gezzapk ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from being an insanely strong climber, he was taking frequent breaks to shake off and let the blood back into his arms. If you time it well then it's just tolerating the pain, rest then repeat as he explained at the end. Most of Storror (except Benj and Max and Toby) were just dead hanging without breaks which made them fall so much earlier.
      But Pete does have some incredible pain tolerance and endurance in his hands.

    Pete is a machine! And such a lovely guy as well. I think my favourite part of doing competitive sport (mine was synchronised swimming) was how high a pain tolerance it gives you. Now I’m really into cold water swimming, and the look people give you when you walk past them in just a swimsuit when they’ve got full winter gear for -10C and a foot of snow is priceless! Also breath holding/under competitions are a breeze.
