  • The Boker XS is well known by most who live in countries with strict knife laws relating to every day carry. The XS is a slipjoint with a decent size blade and a tactical vibe. The question is, will it beat the Twisted Assisted Junzi for best UK legal EDC?

Totally agree with you on the blade length 👍

Boker xs: I have 3 of them with broken back springs (different years, different suppliers).Light work as this was an offhand backup knife.Strong hand edc: Spyderco Ukpen. Where I live I can carry a 9mil but not a locking folder 😅 . I have a 4th that I tightened up a bit and carry it in a sheath like a fixed blade. I reached out to Boker Germany and U.S.A. No response.

Thanks for the review... it's a solid choice. I especially like the drop point version of this knife... But wholeheartedly agree that the Junzi is a superior knife.

It’s the overall length of the blade regardless of cutting edge. I just watched a video from the ’black belt barrister’ on the subject. He’s a martial artist, appreciates knives and is a lawyer. Check him out.
Edit: UK law only I presume.

In that case the XS is a concern for UK EDC.

@@thatgearguy so is the Lansky ‘World Legal’ especially the hawk bill version. The black belt lawyer has just released a video about the police tricking you into saying that your UK legal knife could be used as a potential weapon. Check him out it’s interesting and worrying.
      Great video!!

"Ambiguity is the enemy of progress". All depends on the judge you get, some will say its fine some wont, some will say the thumb stud is "something" used to release the blade from the handle therefore a flip knife therefore illegal, its all down to the police or judges bias decision

@@requiscatinpace7392 This is how they get ya, half of the time its perfectly legal but getting you to say the right words, now its illegal, now they have another tick on their quota for the day

"The exception to these 2 rules are folding pocketknives that:
have a cutting edge no longer than 3 inches
are not lock knives (they do not have a button, spring or catch that you have to use to fold the knife)"
"Flick knife, gravity knife, ‘switchblade’ or ‘automatic knife’ A knife where the blade opens automatically or is released from the handle, either by gravity or by pressing a button or something else on the knife."

As an update can you conform if the Boker XS is still a legal carry knife. Some people are saying is joe 3 inches for the blade length but the legislation still states cutting edge.

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  ปีที่แล้ว

Legislation is not going to help you if rulings have already been made regarding the definition of a "blade". It was ruled that a blade does not require a sharp edge to be a blade. This would mean the entire length of the XS blade is therefore longer than 3".

@thatgearguy but how can a reasonable member of the public expect to know that unless its in legislation? I would challenge that

@thatgearguy unfortunately I disagree. Where is it documented for a reasonable member of the public to follow the law. If I wanted to buy a knife and be legal where would I go. I would only be able to reference legislation. I would use this legislation as a defence including, with my unblemished record and also the fact that Heni Hains states it UK legal. I am sure the court will afirm that a reasonable member of the public has to be able to reference what is available to them.

At 7:45 you measure wrong. You measure from curve on bottom of handle. You should measure from tip to closest first contact of handle, which is in the middle of the blade. Than is 3 inch

I am sure the Police and courts will measure from wherever suits them.
