I think we need a series of at least 10 parts of this category, because I know a country picked a singer or a group that has at least one member who was not born in that certain country has become more and more common nowadays. Hell who am I kidding, it was already a common thing back then and it still is.
I noticed you included Brooke. However, under the Good Friday Agreement you can be born an Irish citizen in Northern Ireland. It's a grey area, hence why there have been so many people from N.I. representing Ireland and not UK.
However, Dana was born in London.

FACT: María Mendiola (Baccara) was born in Madrid in 1952
Anni-Frid is the daughter of a Norwegian mother and a German soldier and after her marriage she actually became a German noble.
After WWII these women and their children (Tysketöser & Tyskeunger) were shunned and treated like traitors by the Norwegians. Anni-Frid was about one year old when her grandmother brought her to Sweden and a little later her mother joined them here. Unfortunately her mom died not long thereafter, when Frida was still a toddler.
@@swedishmeatball4382 I know, I read that, too. What I would like to know though is if her mother's pregnancy was forcefully, by accident or desired. She was already 32 when she met her father after thinking that he died at the end of the war. What I think is the irony is that she suffered at a very young age for being half German no matter if she actually experienced this herself or not and now she is a German princess. Funny enough Vicky Leandros has become a German noble later in her life as well although not a princess, but still.
@@watchnocatch171 Oh, I think the mom was quite enamored by her soldier (she had no idea he was aleady married and, if I remember correctly, had three kids at home iwth his wife). Let's not forget that her mom was very, very young (17 or 18, I think) and that's an age where Love (insert dozens of hearts emojis here) are all that many teenage girls can think of.
So, the love affair was probably mutual and I think that he was transported back to Germany not knowing about the pregnancy. And if he had known he most likely wouldn't have left his wife and kids anyway. I read that his son read in a newspaper about Anni-Frid's story as ABBA was performing in Switzerland I think (they weren't in Germany but close enough, if I recall correctly, and thought some details sounded familiar, so he asked his dad who came clean about his Norwegian "fling". I'm guessing the wife was dead by then. So, a meeting was arranged and it was just awkward, according to Anni-Frid. I guess the dad wasn't that keen to meet her.
@@swedishmeatball4382 Well, getting to know 32 years later that you have another child surely is... something. Although he was her father they were foreign to each other. I think then you have to give to him that he didn't try to cash in from her success later in her life. I bet there are enough people that would have. Doesn't she live now in Switzerland? Is there anything known that she can speak German? Once I searched for some videos but I don't remember finding one.
Also, TNT (Spain 1964) were, if I'm not mistaken, Uruguayans that were born in Italy.

It's like one of my cousins. She was born in Cambridge, England, UK but now lives in Sweden and is fluent in the Swedish language. This is because her mum and her mum's side of the family was born there. If she could sing and represented Sweden in Eurovision and sang in Swedish, no one would know where she was actually from.
So,as a peruvian,it was such a shock inducing thing to see an artist from here representing Spain in 1979 and being a runner up too 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Also ,I gotta admit I was just as surprised by many of this cases ,especially when the artist was from a country that also participates in Eurovision and when they choose them from a completely unrelated country 😂😂
(Now that I think about it,Spain and Peru both speak spanish,diferently of course,but keeping that in mind..it does make some sense,is just so crazy that they actually choose her and the song is beautiful 💖💖💖💖💖💖)

Nope. Her dad is Hall of Fame hockey goalie Dominik Hasek & he was playing for the NHL's Buffalo Sabres when Dominika was born.
